Chapter 337: Outsider

Ayera is a complicated person to deal with in the Brolgadhr tribe.

Ayera is the wife of the Kan and she is given power and even given authority to form her own army.

She has more authority, power and influence yet, she could not give any concrete report about the methods of the Brolgadhr on how to become strong.

Ayera said that she has been snooping but it is really hard to understand how the tribe become so strong other than attributing it to the Kan.

When Garron read the report of Ayera, he wonders, whether this blade of his....is turning against him.

Did she have nothing to report or did she choose not to report?

As for the matter of the Kazan, before Garron make his move toward Rudya, he already thought how to extract the biggest benefit and at the same time, prepare an exit strategy,

The exit strategy is the justification for taking the Rudya. The bargaining chips is the lands of Rudya.

The deterrence is the warriors and horses that he has gained.

If he is really strong and powerful, why display such strength like an ostentatious nouveau rich?

It is said that Aeryon nowadays, did not even need to arrange dozens of men around his tent when a chief wanted to meet him

But just him standing there, talking and laughing while drinking Ayrag and spoke about the fealty and submission of the small tribes gives pressure to people

Because everyone knows that the Brolgadhr tribe is strong.

He did not have to show the ten thousands horses and did not have to look at the faces of the chief and endure what he didn’t want to endure.

Garron read a report that when Aeryon went out of the tribe, there is one tribe that wanted to conspire with some tribe of the west to raise havoc and take the land and the resources so that they would be able to negotiate with the Kan.

The problem stems with their apparent dissatisfaction with certain right that were taken from them as a chief of a surrendering tribe.

Aeryon did say that he is reforming the method of reward and those chief that have seek refuge in him would surely be rewarded with titles and land but ask them to wait a little while he draft this new method of rewarding.

Since the beginning of Aeryon conquest, he did not have time to reward those small tribes and ask them to temporarily take a seat in the Elder Council.

There is now even a large two storey building near the city square that is being built to accommodate the Elders.

There is too many Elders.

Because most of them are from small tribes that surrendered or conquered by Aeryon. The veto power still lies on the original Elders of the Brolgadhr tribe.

There is a meeting every one week where they would discuss an issue and the matter would be then forwarded to the Kan for the Kan to make the final decision.

The Elders however become more and more numerous because of Aeryon campaign and the rewards that they were promised is not yet given

And some are dissatisfied.

This one man called upon his tribesman.

A thousand horsemen rises following this order.

In any tribe, the rise of one thousand horsemen like this is already a major matter.

It would require the chief to go to the frontline to calm the people and lead the attack.

But in the Brolgadhr tribe, Mayeux who is reported to hear this news only chuckles.

He sent Belarion with five hundred men in the morning and by the dawn of next morning, Belarion enters Mayeux tent, drink a sip of Ayrag and throws the head of the small chief tribe and ask for a supply of Ayrag, a dozen horses, twenty sheep and he returns home to his tent and went to sleep.

All it takes to destroy those one thousand horsemen is five hundred horsemen, armed with armour.

The matter did not even cause any chaos to the main settlement of the Brolgadhr

That is the strength of the Brolgadhr.

And because of that they did not have to resort to the kind of method he had to resort to.

The Kazan tribe is not a weak tribe and it also did not lack warriors.

If they fight each other, everyone around them would profit.

But only they would have lost.

That is why even though Utgard had done something that should be a reason to break the alliance, Ayuka restrain his anger and decided to meet

That is why even though garron is in advantageous position, he still ae f show respect and deference to the Kazan tribe.

Because the bulk of the main force that attack Rudya tribe is Kazan tribe warriors. Utgard face the problem of not having enough warrior

They also lack a figure like Belarion that could sweep away all opponents.

Utgard tribe is not like the Chagai tribe that could win ten thousand horsemen with only his mouth.

He is not a master of diplomacy and master of balance like Chadha.

He is not like the Khagai tribe chief Valgrun who is adept in strategy and could use his brilliant ways to fight many with the few.

He is not like Dama who could unite the mountain tribe using fear and force.

He is also not like Aeryon who has it all.

the right time, right place and the right people to conquer the Southern Great Steppe

Why is it hard for him?

Because of his reputation.

However, is that all? Some powerful chief also have bad reputation but it would not be that hard for them to take root and expand as Garron is

The reason is actually more simple than that

It is because he is an outsider.

Why could Chadha convince tow tribes to stop fighting even though there is some blood debt between them?

Is it simply because they marry each other?

It is also because Chadha come from a long line of lineage of tribes and knows many people and connections.

The Khagai tribe chief Valgrun is not the strongest in his tribe but he could rule his tribe with absolute authority.

Is it simply because of his ability to create magnificent strategy?

No. if that is the case, strategist would become chief, become lords and emperors.

The succession of the Khagai tribe is orthodox and Valgrun relies on the connection of his father and grandfather to stabilize the tribe when the seat is given to a person like him that lacks martial virtues.

The ability to create strategies is only icing on the top.

Then look at the Brolgadhr tribe.

Why could Aeryon stage a comeback and seize opportunity and chances like the Steppe favours him?

If it was any other tribes that was feuding with the Xewa and Ghar tribe, they would already be annihilated. What saves Aeryon was his family background.

Even though the Brolgadhr tribe was declining by Rakarys time, they still have many allies. And the Ashana also supported him and his tribe because of the favours of the past.

The Xewa tribe fears that they would be feared and ganged upon by other tribes if they chooses an extreme method to deal with the Brolgadhr tribe so he let them go

And that allowed Aeryon to stage a comeback.

At the same time, Rakarys, Aeryon father left Belarion to protects his son. This Belarion itself is a great warrior with innate strength.

Then there is the location

The tribes are near in front of the entrance of the Wall of Yan. While this makes him an easy target, it also allows Aeryon to ride south.

When he calls upon the tribe to join him, that is an act of gathering the hearts. Aeryon won the siege of Nurshira, brought riches, increase his strength and begins his invincible journey

Right time, right place, right people. This is the thing that Garron lacked.

As he escorted the Kazan chief to sit down, he then returns back to his seat, smiling and showing amiable smile to the new Kazan chief.

"I have heard a little about what happen in the Kazan tribe? But I still need to listen it from you" Garron did not delay.

After all, he also wanted to resume back the alliance.

He estimated that in a day or so, the conflict between him and the Kazan tribe would already spread and some tribe might begin paying attention to his tribe and look at his tribe like an easy target.

He needs to resume back the alliance and once again announce to the Steppe that he has reconcile and enter back into protective arms of the Kazan.

If not, Garron runs the risk of being alienated and if some chief invoke some of the Old Laws and persuade the Ashana to retract their support for the Utgard tribe, then his tribe would be a free game for anyone.

He did not know what would happen nowadays.

Ashana is still a powerful force in the Southern Great Steppe.

Of course, this power would only be effective if other recognize it.

And if interest aligns between the Ashana words and the ambition of the chief, then the Ashana words could become a very powerful force indeed
