Wedding Night: My Disabled Husband Made Me Cry-Chapter 165: A First-Time Husband
Jett Sterling said flatly, "Go on."
"I’ve kept my return to the country a secret from my family, and they don’t know about Elle. But Aethelgard isn’t that big. I travel between here and my apartment every day, so I’m bound to run into someone I know. When my family finds out, it will definitely cause trouble for you."
Jett Sterling sounded rather impatient. "Get to the point."
Shirley Wentworth: "..."
Her expression darkened, but she maintained her composure and said, "So, I was thinking it would be best if I limit my time outside."
Ian Sterling chimed in, "So you want to move into Sycamore Bay?"
Vivian Quinn froze, looking at her with curiosity.
Shirley Wentworth smiled. "I didn’t say that, and I certainly wasn’t thinking it. My idea is that Elle could come back to my apartment with me. I happen to own two units there, right next to each other, so I was thinking of inviting Miss Quinn to stay in the other one. It’s also close to Aethelgard University, which would be convenient for her classes."
Jett Sterling was dismissive. "Do you think I’m short on properties, that my wife needs to live at your place?"
"Of course not," Shirley Wentworth explained. "I know my place isn’t as comfortable as it is here. I just figured that since Miss Quinn is genuinely kind to Elle, she would probably be willing."
Vivian Quinn smiled at her. "Miss Wentworth, you’re aware of my background. I’m not that particular about where I live. But if I were to stay at your place, Jett would surely follow, and he wouldn’t be comfortable."
Shirley Wentworth: "..."
"You two must be very close. Can you really not bear to be apart?"
Vivian Quinn didn’t deny it. "If you were married, Miss Wentworth, you’d know that it’s true."
Shirley Wentworth’s expression soured even further. "But have you considered that if this gets out, it won’t just be trouble for me, but for Jett, too? He doesn’t want anyone to find out about Elle."
"Sycamore Bay is very secure," Jett Sterling interjected. "My people are all tight-lipped. As long as Elle doesn’t leave this place, no one will know he exists. If word gets out, it will be because the information was leaked from your side."
Shirley Wentworth: "..."
"Jett, don’t you think that’s going too far? How could I possibly leak information about Elle?"
"Which is why asking Vivian to go live with you is completely pointless." Jett saw right through her. "It doesn’t matter if people find out you’re back in Aethelgard. Even if your family discovers you’re coming here every day, I trust you’re intelligent enough to smooth things over without anyone needing to know you have a son. Isn’t that right?"
Shirley Wentworth pressed her lips together, her face a mask of grievance. "I was being thoughtless. I take back what I just said. Ever since Elle got sick, I’ve been a complete mess, and I’m not thinking things through properly. I’m sorry."
"It’s alright. We’re all just trying to do what’s best for Elle," Vivian Quinn said comfortingly. "Let’s eat."
"Okay."
After dinner, Elle woke up. Vivian Quinn went to the kitchen to dish out the congee she had cooked for him. She had planned to feed him herself, but after a moment’s thought, she handed the bowl to Shirley Wentworth. "This is a medicinal congee, it’ll be good for Elle. You should feed it to him."
"Thank you." Shirley Wentworth carefully fed Elle one spoonful at a time.
While eating, Elle patted the spot beside him. "Vivian, sit here."
"Okay." Vivian Quinn sat down beside him. "If you have an appetite, you should eat more. Just let me know if there’s anything you’re craving, and I’ll make it for you."
"Okay."
Elle ate more than half a bowl of the congee, then grabbed his iPad, wanting to play with Vivian Quinn.
Vivian Quinn looked to Shirley Wentworth. "Is it okay for him to play for a little while?"
Shirley Wentworth didn’t say anything.
"Elle, I’ll play with you!" Ian Sterling walked over and scooped up the boy. "You’ll get sick being cooped up in this room all day. Let’s go play!"
Shirley Wentworth didn’t stop him. She and Vivian Quinn shared a smile. "Ian is still such a child."
"Men mature late, especially a young master like him."
"You seem to know men well, Miss Quinn."
"Only a little."
"Then what kind of person do you think Jett is?" Shirley Wentworth asked.
Vivian Quinn shrugged. "You’ve known him for over twenty years. You must know him better than I do, so I won’t presume to lecture you on the subject."
"As I said before, no one in this world truly understands Jett. But you’re different from me, Miss Quinn. You have the chance to get to know him deeply, to control him. If you can do that, then you’ll be the real winner in life."
Vivian Quinn smiled. "But I’ve never thought about trying to control him."
Shirley Wentworth clearly disagreed. "You’re still young, Miss Quinn. If you don’t control your man, how will you control your future? Only by having a firm grip on him can you have a firm grip on your marriage."
"I have a much simpler view. A marriage lasts when two people respect each other’s boundaries and cherish one another, not when one person has to control the other."
"It seems we have different points of view. I, for one, am curious to see which of us is right and which is wrong."
Vivian Quinn smiled. "It seems you’ll have to get married soon to find out the answer, Miss Wentworth."
"So it seems."
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Jett Sterling opened it and came in. "Vivian, it’s time for our workout."
"Coming."
Vivian Quinn followed him to the gym and bolted the door behind them.
Jett immediately sprang into action, pinning her against the wall and lowering his head to kiss her.
"Mmph—" Caught off guard, Vivian Quinn clutched the front of his shirt and returned his kiss.
After a long moment, the man finally let her go, breathing heavily. "Mrs. Sterling, I chose the wrong place. We should have gone straight to our room."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"You’re being ridiculous!"
"I’m serious."
"Stop messing around." Vivian Quinn pushed at his chest. "Let’s hurry up and work out."
"Fine."
Vivian Quinn changed into workout clothes, did some stretches to warm up, and then got on the treadmill, only to get off again after just a few minutes.
"What’s wrong?" Jett Sterling asked. "Are you feeling unwell?"
"My legs are sore."
The man gave a suggestive smile. "Worn out from last night?"
Vivian Quinn shot him a glare. "What do you think!"
"My apologies." Jett Sterling shrugged. "I’m a new husband. I get a little overexcited."
Vivian Quinn was speechless. ’This man is infuriating.’
"I’ll just do some yoga. You go ahead and run."
"Alright."
Vivian Quinn was aching all over, so after a short session, she went to take a shower.
Elle went to bed early that night. After giving a few instructions to the maid who was looking after him, she returned to her room.
Jett had finished washing up and soon pulled her into his arms.
As they kissed, Vivian Quinn quickly sensed his intentions and pushed against his chest. "Not tonight. I have to be ready to get up and check on Elle at any time."
His kisses trailed down her neck. "That won’t be a problem."
"How could it not be a problem? You wore me out last night," Vivian Quinn complained. "No matter how much I begged, you were completely unmoved."
The man chuckled softly. "My fault."
"But you’re showing signs of being an unrepentant offender."
Jett Sterling explained, "Vivian, once a normal man gets to that point, he won’t stop. He can’t stop."
Vivian Quinn’s face flushed red all the way to her ears. "You don’t have to give me such a detailed explanation."
"True. You can feel it for yourself."
Vivian Quinn: "..."!!!
"Don’t say another word!"
"Alright, then let’s continue."
With that, he lowered his head and captured her lips once more...
