What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?-Chapter 64: Yes, We Can Fight
I was still a little confused by Maylene’s declaration and it seems like I wasn’t the only one judging by the looks on the other bunny girls’ faces.
"Maylene? What are you talking about?" One of the older looking bunny girls asked.
By ’older’, I didn’t mean like they look elderly or anything because one of the common themes amongst them is that they all look like young women. This one just looked like she could be Maylene’s older sister or something.
Pretty sure this was some unique character trait for this race for them to look like that... And to be honest, it wouldn’t even be strange since we already had to deal with elves anyway. And they are only just one of the multiple races that we’ve encountered where they had the characteristics of remaining youthful in their looks despite being several decades or even centuries old.
Maylene turned towards the bunny girl who had asked the question, "Sister Sagia! You heard me right! He is our saviour!"
The one known as Sagia narrowed her eyes, "What do you mean by that? Who even is this person?"
"He is someone who actually possesses combat abilities that isn’t reliant on tools to fight those Rock Munchers!"
All of them turned to look at me and I felt a little awkward being stared at by a bunch of shortstack bunny girls.
Aside from Maylene, there were four other bunny girls, each of them with a different hair colour though their body shapes were roughly the same.
The one that Maylene had called Sister Sagia had shoulder length brown hair and white bunny ears and looked like the oldest sister of the group.
Standing beside her was a dark skinned bunny girl with black bunny ears poking out her head of straight black hair that reached down to her lower back.
The third one was a fiery redhead bunny girl who looked quite muscular despite her shorter frame and the interesting part was that her bunny ears were also red in colour.
The last of them was a blue haired bunny girl wearing a pair of glasses making her look like the stereotypical librarian except that she had blue bunny ears poking out of her head as well.
All of them were wearing overalls and looked like they had been working around machines for a really long time.
The redhead pointed at me, "What powers does this guy have?"
"He can beat Rock Munchers with his bare hands!" Maylene answered excitedly.
The redhead narrowed her eyes, "Ha? This guy with his stick-like arms? Are you kidding me? There’s no way that could happen!"
Maylene looked offended by her claim and huffed at her, "I saw it with my own eyes, sister Netty! Are you trying to say that I don’t even know what I saw myself?"
Huh... I’m assuming that in this colony, everyone refers to each other as ’sisters’ or something?
Maybe for them, they are just one big family?
The redhead named Netty suddenly went over to one of the machines and pulled out what looked like a solid steel bar before handing it over to me.
"Hold this."
I did as she asked, holding it up with one hand and wondering what she wanted me to do with it.
She smirked at me, "Bet you can’t bend it."
Oh, a test of strength? I should have expected that.
I guess I should just help Maylene here to give her credibility to her words so...
I didn’t even use both hands and simply held it in that same hand before placing my thumb on the bar and pushing it with just my thumb.
It was actually more solid than I thought so I had to put in more strength than I first expected.
Still, the metal bent like how I wanted it to with a metallic groan until it was bent in a U shape.
I then handed it back to her, "Is this good enough?" I asked.
All the bunny girls stared at the bent metal that the redhead was holding in her hands with a dumbfounded expression on her face.
The only person who wasn’t surprised was Maylene who had her chest puffed up proudly like she was the one who bent it.
The other four bunny girls slowly turned their heads to me, the brown haired bunny girl named Sagia facing me directly.
"Who are you, really?"
At this point, I’ve pretty much figured that this group of bunny girls were probably the leaders or something.
Thus, I decided it would be better if I just told them the truth here.
"I am actually someone from another World. A World that is also being invaded by the same creatures that you call Rock Munchers."
This time, Maylene turned back to me with wide eyes, "Wait... You were telling the truth this entire time?!"
"That’s what I’ve been telling you all this time but you didn’t believe me..."
The brown haired bunny girl stepped forward, "Are you speaking the truth? Are you really from another World?"
"Yes. Are you aware of how these Ano-- I mean... Rock Munchers came to your World?"
She nodded, "They came from the Dark Wastes. The place where the darkness consumes everything that enters it."
Oh? That got my attention.
"Where is that?"
"Ah... If you leave our outpost and follow the tunnel down, you would eventually reach a crossroads with four branching paths, there is one particular path that leads all the way down to the darkness. That’s where they first poured out from and started consuming everything."
Hmm... If I’m not wrong, the place she was referring to was back at the original group of tunnels that we first came across.
Which means... The Gatekeeper would probably be located there.
I crossed my arms, "Do you know about the portals?"
"Portals?" She asked, giving me the look that basically told me that she most definitely did not know about them.
I nodded, "I’ll tell you what we know then... These Rock Munchers are known as Anomalies in our world and they are basically creatures that consume worlds. After they consume a world, they will open another portal leading to another world and repeat the same thing in that other World."
Maylene gasped, "Does that mean... These Rock Munchers are invading your World as well?"
"That’s right. And before you ask, we are here to close the portal to stop them from invading our World."
"Eh... Then if you came over to our world... Does that mean we could go to yours as well?"
I nodded again, "You can, actually. But... Seeing that you actually carved out a haven for yourself... I don’t know if you would want to?"
All five bunny girls looked at each other before looking back to me.
"Sorry for the late introduction... As you might have heard... I am Sagia, the oldest sister of the Rhodes clan. You have already met Maylene, our third sister," The brown haired bunny girl introduced.
She then started gesturing to the other three bunny girls, starting with the black haired one, "Vittaria is our second sister, the redhead is Netty and our youngest is Inies."
I nodded at them, "Nice to meet all of you. You can call me Qing. I would introduce my companions but they are sharing some of their supplies with your people right now."
Sagia gestured towards me, "If it isn’t too rude to ask... What are your plans here?"
"I said before, right? We are planning to close the portal to stop the Anomalies here from crossing over to our World. If we don’t close it, they would also launch an all out assault on our World and we don’t want that."
Once again, the five bunny girls shared another look before Sagia cleared her throat, "Ahem... Qing was it? Are you going to stay here to deal with those Rock Munchers?"
"Unfortunately, we did not expect to meet any survivors and this was more of a recon expedition for us. We intend to return back to our World to rest before we come back again tomorrow."
Sagia then gestured at Maylene, "If... If it’s possible... Would you mind having Maylene tag along with you? She knows the tunnels around here so... I think it might be beneficial for you to have a guide."
I could tell that they wanted something else and my guess was that they were sending Maylene with us through the portal to check the conditions of our World. No doubt, if they found our World to be suitable, they might even ask if they could migrate over.
At least... That’s what I think.
For all I know, they might still want to stay here and perhaps they’re just asking for trading access or something, which I’m not sure if we would be able to do since that would mean keeping the portal open and that’s definitely not something we want.
I guess we’ll just have to see when the time comes. For now, I seem to have an additional bunny girl as a companion.
