What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 405 : We’re Just Going To Rush There

"There is one problem though, Boss…" Ries warned as her finger hovered over the screen that would activate the security systems.

I nodded at her, "A little late now but what is it?"

"We won't be able to add ourselves to the database which would let the security systems believe we are friendly units. We would basically be treated as intruders or worse, one of those Psionic Chrysalis and also shot at…"

I frowned, "Is there no way to add ourselves to the system to be registered as friendlies?"

"Erm… Boss might be able to hack the turrets to change their settings individually but that means you'll have to do it for every single turret and trap we come across… We'll need to hack the system from the security room itself if we want to affect all of them at the same time…"

The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.

I grimaced, "In that case, can we stay here for a while and let the security systems do their work before shutting it off and heading towards the security room to add ourselves to the database before coming back here?"

Ries paused and nodded slowly, "That's… Actually possible. As expected of Boss!"

I just said what I thought would be the most sensible thing…

Ries moved her finger closer to the screen, "Shall I start it now, Boss?"

I nodded, "Do it."

Her finger tapped on the screen and the generator glowed a little brighter for a moment before dimming again.

Several of the screens near us also came to life and I realised that those were displaying the security cameras that were outside the generator room.

I didn't expect this place to have their own security systems… And thankfully the cameras had night vision on them so we could still see what was happening despite the lights not being turned on.

Hey, then maybe… Could I just hack into them through here?

Before I could attempt to do so, my attention was drawn to the screen where several Psionic Chrysalis were smashing themselves against the door, as though trying to break it down.

Too bad for them, the door was too thick for any of them to even penetrate so what they have been doing so far was completely futile.

Right then, a few turrets popped out from the ceiling and I got to receive the satisfaction of watching the turrets shred those Chrysalis into pieces.

Surprisingly, the Chrysalis seemed to ignore the turrets and just continued to ram themselves against the door, even though quite a number of them had already fallen.

Then all of a sudden, as though they had only just realised that they were being shot at, they suddenly turned towards the turrets and started charging towards it.

The turrets continued to shoot them down until they were overwhelmed and the Psionic Chrysalis managed to tear the turrets apart.

Damn… At least the turrets managed to cut down a good number of them before they got destroyed.

I thought that the turrets were the only defense that this place had and since they were destroyed, there was no other defense that could be utilised to get rid of the Psionic Chrysalis.

But then from the corner, several drones suddenly flew in and started shooting at the Chrysalis as well.

It also took the Chrysalis some time to react to the drones but by then, it was too late as there were not enough of them to withstand the onslaught of gunfire to reach the drones.

Well, at least that clears out the Chrysalis outside our room…

Then I noticed that the drones started flying towards the generator room doors instead of leaving.

Wait… Don't tell me…

I looked in the direction of the door and noticed that above the armoured door were even smaller doors that slid open for the drones to pass through.

And as I feared, the small swarm of drones started flying towards us, clearly intent on shooting us as well.

"Umm… Girls?" I called out, pointing in the direction of the entrance as the drone swarm flew towards us like an angry cloud.

"I'll take care of them, Captain," Mara assured me, floating to the front of the room.

She then stretched out her hands and clenched them, causing a large part of the swarm of drones to suddenly stop moving.

They were then crushed by Mara's telekinesis before being sent flying as improvised projectiles towards the remaining drones, smashing them all into pieces.

Granted, there weren't as many drones as there were Psionic Chrysalis from earlier but this was still impressive to see.

"Alright then, should we move to the security room now or do we still need to wait for a while more?" I asked.

Ries hesitated, "If we want it to be absolutely safe, we might need to wait here for a while… But now that I know there's also drones in the station acting as a defensive measure… We would definitely end up getting attacked again if we stay here…"

I made a face at her, "In that case, let's scrap the previous plan. We'll just rush towards the security room right now to register ourselves into the system. Hopefully most of their attention would be on the Chrysalis swarm instead. Any objections?"

I looked at each of the girls but all of them shook their heads.

Alright then, guess we're really doing this.

I did a quick check to make sure my shotgun was fully loaded before leading the way towards the door again.

With the power only being fed to the security systems and the doors, it was still pitch black for us and we needed to make use of our lights to illuminate our path in the darkness.

I was a little worried about being swarmed again by drones or Psionic Chrysalis when we reached the door but thankfully that didn't happen.

Those two must be busy destroying each other right now, hopefully…

Still, we kept our guard up as the door opened, though it seemed like it was unable to open fully and got stuck halfway.

Most likely it was due to the damage that Mara had done to it but well, at least it was still open wide enough for us to go through so it didn't really matter.

We went back into the corridor and floated our way back to the junction. That was where I saw a couple of drones engaged in a firefight with several Psionic Chrysalis down the path that we needed to go to reach the security room.

With how the first battle I witnessed between them went, I thought this would be another easy fight that would end in the drones' victory.

But then a different type of Psionic chrysalis appeared where it looked like it had formed into some kind of spinning top with its dark matter.

The bullets the drones fired were deflected away by the dark matter before the spinning top Chrysalis flew towards the drones, shredding them apart like they were pieces of paper.

The heck? When the hell could the Chrysalis do that? Is this just a new type of the creature or were they able to join together to transform themselves into that? What kind of thing are they even?

There was no time for me to figure that out since the spinning top thing started flying towards us as though it had sensed our presence.

I was about to fire at it when Lea pulled the trigger on her sniper rifle first, sending the deadly projectile forward to smash into the dark matter that encased around that spinning top Chrysalis.

It seems that while it was able to deflect away normal gunshots aimed at the, Lea's sniper turned out to be pretty effective as it blew through the dark matter and shattered the crystal behind it.

That left the remaining Chrysalis that the drones didn't manage to kill but there was no big deal as we easily shot them all down before they could reach us.

"Damn… This thing can also transform into other types?" I asked, looking at the dea Chrysalis that had destroyed the drones.

"This isn't normal behaviour for them, Tera…" Amber explained, looking at the corpse as well. "They would usually just charge at their target without caring which is why they aren't that big of a threat to people who are prepared for them… Everything we've seen them do around here so far has been out of the norm…"

I sighed, "Great… So there might really be someone controlling them or maybe giving them instructions?"

"I wouldn't rule that possibility out at least… In fact, it's the most probable answer that can explain everything that is happening right now."

Damn it… I suppose we'll just have to deal with it if we end up meeting the person… If only we can just loot this station without some random hobo disturbing us with their little pets, that would have been great.

Whatever, let's just deal with the security room first before seeing how things go from there.
