Chapter 775: They’re All The Same Gang

"You again?"

I waved at the police officer that had questioned me back at the exhibition hall less than an hour ago.

He was quite memorable considering the fact that he had gene modded himself to look like a red skinned devil complete with horns and a spaded tail. Kind of ironic if you ask me.

"What can I say? I seem to be a pretty unlucky person," I chuckled.

He looked down at the pile of unconscious men laying on the floor of the bar, his partner making a face at the sight as well.

His partner was a normal human male except with a few cybernetic implants here and there so it was just him that was gene modded.

Apparently some other patrons called the police during the fight and that’s why they sent someone from the exhibition hall over here since they were already nearby anyway.

Should have expected something like this to happen after starting a bar fight...

The devil police officer turned back to me, "So... Care to explain what happened here?"

I pointed at them, "They started it, ok? They were the ones who came over to us and threw the first punch. We just fought back in self defence. You can ask the bartender or any of the other patrons here, they will attest to that."

The bartender that was still behind the bar nodded, "She’s telling the truth there."

The police officer hummed but said nothing.

His partner started scanning them with his personal terminal before he visibly grimaced.

"Dude... Take a look at this."

The devil police officer went over to look at the screen and his face also scrunched up noticeably.

Wait... We didn’t accidentally kill them, did we? I’m pretty sure all of them were still unconscious when I last checked them...

The devil police officer straightened himself and let out a deep sigh, "When you said you were unlucky, you weren’t kidding... These guys are part of a gang around here."

I blinked at him, "Ok? So? I don’t see how that’s relevant or even changes anything about this situation?"

"They are... A rather problematic gang and I can tell you that they will most likely not let this go. If you’re still staying here, you might need to prepare to get harassed or something..."

I frowned at him, "Wait... You guys know about them and don’t do anything about them? Why the heck aren’t you guys just going in there and arresting them all?"

He scowled at me, "It’s not as simple as that. To begin with, we can’t just walk right in and arrest them without a warrant. And what’s more, we ’officially’ don’t know where their main base is to begin with."

"So basically bureaucracy is tying you guys up? Typical."

He looked around as though to make sure no one was listening in before he leaned over to me, "Well... Just saying... I’m just speaking in hypothetical terms here... But if a Mercenary were to take up a hustle on dealing with those thugs, it would be completely ok, you see? No need to wait for a warrant or anything."

Huh... Now I’m curious... Aren’t Mercs just acting as vigilantes in that case? Would that land us in trouble with the law if we were to go and kill some people because we were paid to do so?

Like maybe the gang doesn’t do anything illegal aside from maybe being a public nuisance. But someone paid for a hustle to have them be eliminated by a Merc. Would that be illegal?

I didn’t get to ask him before he started cuffing and collaring the unconscious thugs with his partner, leaving me alone with my girls.

Well... I might as well just ask them instead, I guess?

When I turned to my girls, I realised Amber was already scrolling through her personal terminal with a serious look on her face while the others were looking over her shoulder to see the screen.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Hmm... The cop was telling the truth earlier... There’s actually a hustle out right now that is commissioning for someone to go and wipe out that gang. They even provided the location of their base."

Ah... So that’s what the officer meant by they ’officially’ they don’t know where their main base is.

"I have a question... Since the police can’t get a warrant to deal with them, doesn’t it mean that it’s kind of illegal for us to just go in and kill them?"

Amber looked up at me with a wry smile on her face, "Don’t you think it’s a little late for you to worry about something like that, Tera? We’ve already killed our fair share of thugs after all."

"Yeah... I mean... We had to deal with the police three times in a row ever since we got here after all... So I got a little curious about how they would deal with people like us..."

"It’s pretty simple actually. The client is the one that is liable for any crime the request might entail. But if the Merc does something outside of what the request asks for, then it would be the Merc that is liable for it. Assuming that there’s someone to report or press charges against, of course."

That sounds a little complicated so I’ll just accept that and not think about it anymore.

Amber grinned at me, "So... Should we just take the hustle? It’s basically free Credits for us~"

Well... I guess the best defense is a good offense. Since we already know that these guys would come after us, we might as well go after them first.

And the fact that someone actually put in a hustle to deal with them means someone else was also a victim of them to the point that they are willing to pay to get rid of them so this is completely justified.

I nodded at Amber and she grinned as she tapped on the button to accept the hustle.

*

I’m going to just say that it was fated to happen at this point... Though if you think about it, I would say that they were really, really unlucky.

This was apparently the same exact group that were hired to steal the Exo-Knights who I had also taken out earlier...

And their hideout was literally just a street down from where we were, which I guess made sense since they were visiting that bar so they should have been nearby.

Since we’ve already gone this far, we might as well just wipe them out.

"Renata, Ries, Lea... How do things look?" I asked.

"All clear here, Daddy!"

"Everything is clear here as well, Boss."

"The place is isolated, you are free to go, Mistress."

I nodded at the screen that showed me the faces of my lovers, "Alright then. We’re starting now. Yumiko, Mara, I’m relying on both of you to take care of anyone that might try to escape."

"Leave it to me, Mistress."

"You can count on me, Captain."

I then turned to Amber who was already looking at me in anticipation, "Ready?"

"Of course!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

The both of us strolled towards the run down building this gang was using as a base, its entrance guarded by two thugs who were playing with their personal terminals at the side of the door.

They spotted us pretty quickly, though it wasn’t like we were trying to hide ourselves anyway.

"Hey, you two lost or someth--"

Amber raised her hand and the guy was telekinetically flung towards the wall where he crashed through it like it was made of paper.

I also raised my hand to exert my will over the other guy, snapping his neck with a tilt of my wrist.

Shouts of alarm came from inside and Amber flew inside the building with me following close behind her.

She was already shooting out fire from her palms and setting the bottom floor ablaze, cutting off any possible escape routes out of the building.

I chose to fly up to the second floor and someone tried to shoot at me from around the corner, only for his bullets to get eaten up by Renata.

I flicked my hand at him and he was sent smashing against the wall, his internal organs being crushed by the force as blood burst from his pores.

Flying from room to room, I cleared them out methodically, catching most of the thugs by surprise as I eliminated anybody I found with my telekinesis.

Amber joined in when I was about to move up to the third floor and we ascended up the stairs to be met with gunfire.

I was prepared for that as I extended my tentacle to create a wall in front of us, absorbing the impact and protecting us as we took our time to locate where each of the thugs were before we snapped their necks with our telekinesis.

Well then... That was easy~

Now it’s down to the final room at the back and this gang would be completely wiped out~
