When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 979: What Should I Do? What Should I Do?
Staring at the maid, Mrs. Rhodes, a fleeting judgment flashed through Nathan Xavier’s mind, but he quickly gathered himself.
"Mrs. Rhodes," he said to her, his expression serious, "from now on, you must do everything in your power to protect Miss Gia, no matter the circumstances. She is the priority. Do you understand?"
Mrs. Rhodes was momentarily stunned. She definitely had her doubts but nodded, "I understand." But isn’t Miss Gia an outsider?
Nathan Xavier was angry about her lying to help Rhiannon Xavier today, but he didn’t blame her.
Because he had gotten the information he wanted.
"From now on, you’re not allowed to lie, and especially not allowed to help Rhiannon lie." With that, he turned and walked away.
Mrs. Rhodes stood at the door, watching the tall and cold silhouette of the young master. She clutched her heart.
A premonition arose out of nowhere; it seemed the Xavier Family was about to change, that something big was going to happen!
Nathan Xavier left Mrs. Rhodes and headed straight to Rhiannon Xavier’s residence. His gaze was steady, his handsome face taut, and his steps were brisk.
When the knock on the door sounded, a panicked Rhiannon Xavier turned abruptly, opened the door, and started berating the maid outside—
"What are you doing?! I said I wanted some peace! Don’t disturb me!!" She was really annoyed, not yet recovered from the fact that Gia could be Shane, feeling as if the sky was about to fall.
The maid at the door replied in a small voice, mustering the courage to report, "The young master is here, downstairs, saying he wants to see you."
The young master?
Rhiannon Xavier was startled again, almost thinking she had misheard because Nathan Xavier hardly ever came to see her!
And if he was here today, he must be here to trouble her! Gia got hurt, didn’t she? Look at how worried and distressed he was!
He had just been bandaging Gia, so he must have seen the crescent-shaped birthmark on her left leg, right?
With this suspicion, Rhiannon Xavier’s body suddenly stiffened. Her gaze lost focus. Oh my god...
"Miss..." the maid quietly reminded, "the young master is waiting downstairs. Are you going down, or should he..."
Rhiannon Xavier slowly turned her gaze and saw Nathan Xavier already on the stairs.
He stood not far away in a tailored suit, his face pale, watching him, her heart skipped a beat.
The maid followed her gaze, "Hello, young master." She quickly bent to greet him and then quietly stepped back, afraid to get involved in the conflict.
Rhiannon Xavier gripped the door handle, standing guiltily at the door, her face pale as she watched the man walk towards her step by step.
Nathan Xavier’s face was cold, his eyes full of disgust. His seriousness, that aura, made her feel afraid.
Until he stopped right in front of her, she managed to conceal her guilt with a slightly raised smile, "Brother, is Gia alright?" She dared to ask proactively because she trusted Mrs. Rhodes to lie for her.
Thinking of his sister, injured and bleeding, Nathan Xavier’s heart ached, his expression even more grim—
"Rhiannon Xavier, listen carefully. From today on, you’re not allowed to get close to Gia again. If I find out you’re up to no good, I’ll throw you out of the Xavier Family immediately! I won’t need anyone’s consent!"
Which meant not even father and mother could back her.
His words fell like a heavy hammer, crashing down on her heart!
In fact, it was only a matter of time before Rhiannon Xavier was kicked out of the Xavier Family, and Nathan Xavier was slowly gathering evidence.
But now, without the paternity test results and with his sister’s memory not yet recovered, there was no rush.
Some things can’t be forced; they need to be accepted gradually.
Just then, Nathan Xavier’s phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, swiped to answer, and the person on the other end said, "President Xavier, I’m here."
"Okay, I’ll be right there." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
With that, he cast a stern warning glance at Rhiannon Xavier and then turned to leave.
Watching her brother’s back, she had already guessed that he must have seen that crescent-shaped birthmark and suspected that Gia was Shane, right?
Afraid his sister would get hurt again?
What to do, what to do? What should she do now?
Rhiannon Xavier slammed the door shut, took a few steps back, and collapsed onto the bed, losing herself in thought for a long time...
