Chapter 36: Chapter 036: Someone in the Boss’s House

After breakfast, seeing that he showed no signs of leaving, Jiang Shuyao couldn’t be bothered to beat around the bush, and directly issued an eviction order, "Mr. Pei, you’re not getting any younger. Could you perhaps develop a sense of independence and make your own lunch at home?"

The girl’s words were like a breeze blowing through, entering his left ear and exiting the right, leaving no trace. Pei Yan showed no reaction whatsoever after hearing them.

The young man lay on the sofa, wielding his phone and dominating in his game. He was not wearing headphones, allowing the game sounds to be played aloud and with the volume up.

Just then, merely two seconds after Jiang Shuyao had finished speaking, two startling male voices suddenly erupted from the game.

"Damn, I think I heard someone in the boss’s room!"

Then another voice piped up, "It’s not just someone, it’s a beautiful girl, believe it or not."

Jiang Shuyao: "..."

Pei Yan looked lazy, casting his gaze with a curious air towards the figure outside the study.

Tsk, she is a beauty indeed, too bad she’s too fierce. It’d be nice if she could smile at him more often.

His demeanor was downright asking for a slap, so Jiang Shuyao just gave him a slight glare, then silently turned and walked into the study.

"See, you scared her away."

A lazy voice laced with an almost imperceptible fondness traveled into the ears of the three straight men on the other end, carrying with it a deeper meaning.

Hearing this, Chen Jin immediately grew interested and, grinning mischievously, said, "Brother Yan, the girl who was just talking in your room, couldn’t have been Sister Yao, right?"

Pei Yan’s smile froze, "Sister Yao, who told you to call her that?"

Uh.

Even through the screen, Chen Jin could feel the sudden chill emanating from the boss.

Swallowing nervously, his brain started working a bit better, and he hurriedly explained, "Brother Yan, since you and Little Fairy are as close as siblings, that would make her our sister too. We’ve got her back here in Rong City, nobody will dare to bully her."

After finishing, Chen Jin even smugly retorted, "Brother Yan, don’t you think my words make sense?"

Xu Kanfeng couldn’t stop laughing on the other end, thinking to himself that this kid has gotten pretty smart, much more emotionally intelligent than before.

While it was a clear case of changing the subject, the sincerity in his words made it hard for anyone to get angry.

Pei Yan was in a good mood today and didn’t bother to bicker, eventually just gently reminding him, "It’s okay to call her that in private, but don’t go around shouting it."

Getting the boss’s approval, Chen Jin happily scratched his head: "Why though, Brother? Sister Yao sounds so nice."

He Qingzhou and Xu Kanfeng both sighed in unison, see, this blockhead’s intelligence doesn’t last more than three seconds.

Sure enough, it was just moments later that a sinister chuckle from Brother Yan echoed through the game, "Why? Just try calling her that, and you’ll see why."

As his words landed, a series of gunfire followed, and amid the smoke, the three were left stunned.

Their boss had, in just eight seconds, wiped out three opponents?

"You guys keep playing; I’m logging off."

Pei Yan turned off his phone’s screen and placed it on the coffee table, his eyes glancing at a nearby brochure—apparently a Huaren Hospital official HIV prevention handbook that Ms. Zhu had brought back from the office.

He flipped through it disinterestedly for a few moments, then casually put it back before lifting his head only to see Jiang Shuyao carrying a tray of fruit from the kitchen.

The little girl had grown up, smart and sensible, quite impressive.

Pei Yan subconsciously thought the fruit tray was prepared for him, and all the words of praise he could think of were silently uttered in his heart, his gaze towards the girl was much like a gratified father.

It was now ten-thirty, and the hourly maid was probably about to arrive. Jiang Shuyao set the fruit tray on the coffee table, picked up the remote control, and switched on the variety channel on the TV.

The girl watched intently, not uttering a word about inviting him to eat some fruits, indicating clearly that Young Master Pei had been presumptuous just moments ago.

Pei Yan smiled coolly, crossing his long legs at the edge of the sofa, and reaching for a slice of cantaloupe. While chewing, he asked, "Yaoyao, if I really got together with that girl from vocational high, what would your reaction be?"
