While My Mage Wife Grinds, I Power Up Idly-Chapter 62: Stop Hitting Me
Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Stop Hitting Me
Old Goth saw trouble brewing and quickly stepped forward to mediate.
He took a step up, hastily helping the fallen man to his feet, subtly positioning himself between the two.
"Sir. Your Grace. I’m sure this is all just a misunderstanding."
"No, I hit exactly this idiot," Ashu stated firmly.
What the hell kind of era was this? How could someone be so blind and stupid?
This guy looked every bit the spoiled brat—didn’t know who had even done his makeup.
"Idiot? Stupid?" The slick, well-groomed man clutched his face, still stunned. It was the first time in his life anyone had dared insult him like that.
Old Goth’s expression tensed, and he frantically signaled Ashu with his eyes, whispering, "This man is Cardinal Kakarim’s only son. Please, guest, don’t provoke him any further."
"Oh?"
Ashu had come here to meet the Cardinal himself, but unexpectedly ran into his son first.
Judging by this son’s attitude, the Cardinal probably wasn’t much better.
"Get lost. Disappear from my sight in three seconds, or I’ll hit you every time I see you," Ashu said coldly.
Ashu didn’t have spiritual perception and couldn’t tell the man’s cultivation level, but judging from the strength feedback in his palm just now, this guy wasn’t stronger than him.
"Heh," Kakayather sneered with a careless laugh. "You telling me to get lost? In Kakase, you telling me, Kakayather, to get lost? Who’s this bumpkin thinking he’s got the nerve?"
"Tsk."
Ashu was too lazy to argue. What Kakayather got in response was a fist the size of a sandbag.
Using his masterful control over Magical Essence, Ashu transformed the surrounding Magical Essence into shackles, restraining Kakayather’s movements.
Then he pummeled Kakayather’s face with rapid, drumbeat-like punches.
Before ten strikes were up, blood was flowing from Kakayather’s mouth and nose.
"I said, every time I see you, I’ll hit you. And I mean every time."
Dizzy and seeing stars, Kakayather was just about to get back up when Old Goth finally rushed in to pull them apart.
Ashu could feel the immense strength in Old Goth’s pull—far beyond his own.
Just a gentle tug, and the two were separated.
Given such power, Old Goth’s strength was obviously no joke, yet he waited until after ten punches had landed before intervening.
"Stop hitting him! Stop hitting him! Sir, please calm down!" Old Goth pleaded from between them.
With Old Goth blocking him, Ashu couldn’t strike again.
Kakayather gritted his teeth in pain but refused to back down. "Damn it! If my guards hadn’t been requisitioned by that damned Demon Huntress Nun, I would’ve torn you to pieces already!"
"Demon Huntress Nun?..."
"You’re dead meat! Just one word from me and someone’ll have you killed!" Kakayather spat blood but still sneered arrogantly. "Is she your woman? After I kill you, just watch what I do..."
Before he finished, two exquisitely crafted throwing knives suddenly whipped past Old Goth, encircling Kakayather from left and right, aimed straight at his temples.
This time Ashu had no hesitation; daring to harbor such dark thoughts was a death sentence.
Yet—
Though sharp, the knives were firmly grasped in a pair of rough, calloused hands.
The rough hand was cut by the flying knives, but they never managed to get an inch further.
The one who acted was Old Goth.
He saved Kakayather’s life, and seeing the two knives so close, Kakayather’s face instantly drained of color.
Ashu’s intent to kill was unmistakable. He had seen dismembered corpses and had personally sacrificed living people.
"Your Grace Kakayather, please stop talking and leave quickly," Old Goth said quietly.
"You—you actually dared to try and kill me! Just you wait!"
Kakayather scrambled to his feet and fled the manor in a panicked rush.
Ashu couldn’t bring himself to finish the job, all because Old Goth stood between them.
Only after Kakayather left the manor did Old Goth explain, "Sorry, sir—oh no, you’re a Bishop? Then you absolutely shouldn’t have attacked him. He’s the Cardinal’s son. This is going to cause trouble."
Old Goth soon noticed the Sovereign Ring on Ashu’s right hand.
"Trouble? Why didn’t it bother you when you were hitting him?" Ashu said with no patience, already turning to leave and chase after Kakayather.
Old Goth hurried forward to stop him.
"Please wait. I appreciate you standing up for me, but you must immediately stop your intent to kill Kakayather. Once he’s outside this door, he can call Paladins at any time. You’re no match for them."
"Then you shouldn’t be stopping me. If that were true, he’d be dead already."
Old Goth sighed deeply. Of course, he couldn’t allow Kakayather to die on his territory.
He quickly changed the subject. "My granddaughter has been possessed by a demon for a long time. We’ve been waiting for the Demon Huntress Nun to rescue her, but she’s busy with official duties. Even after I donated a large sum to the Holy Cultivator Guild, the Cardinal refuses to pass along my request. If this can’t be resolved soon, my young granddaughter will be sent to the stake."
"And what’s the point of telling me all this?"
"I heard recently a ’luminous saint’ chosen by the Divine Mother Goddess has appeared. You became a Bishop at such a young age—you must be that ’luminous saint,’ right?" Old Goth asked.
Ashu didn’t answer.
He was already thinking about how to kill Kakayather. Being the Cardinal’s son, with the power to summon Paladins at will, made things extremely difficult.
But there was talk of the Demon Huntress Nun operating nearby—maybe Vivita. If so, he might be able to use her power.
If not, well, he could at least check appearances—if over a 90 score, maybe bind her and get a nice bonus.
Ignoring Ashu’s thoughts, Old Goth suddenly stepped back and knelt solemnly before him.
He knelt on both knees and bowed his head deeply.
"Your Grace, ’luminous saint,’ I beg you to exorcise the demon from my granddaughter. I will give you anything. If you want money, I will donate half my fortune! If you think I’m in your way, you may take my life! Even if you seek revenge against Kakayather, I will find a way to help you afterward! If you are willing to act, no matter the cost, I will protect you with all my strength during this time and won’t allow the Paladins to come in and arrest you!" Old Goth declared.
"You never should have stopped me just now."
"My deepest apologies!"
Ashu calmed himself and thought it over. At this point, blaming Old Goth was pointless.
What mattered more was that the reward offered was very sincere.
"Fine, let’s go take a look."
Hearing this, Old Goth quickly got up and led the way.
The three of them climbed the stairs and arrived at a private room on the second floor.
Before even stepping inside, Ashu felt a strong wave of Evil Power.
He didn’t even need spiritual perception—it was just his normal senses detecting it.
That showed just how uncontrollable the evil force inside had become.
Anna spoke up, "Be careful. The level of Evil Power inside is equivalent to a peak Archmage. A child possessed by a demon this strong—what exactly did your family do?"
Following Anna’s hint, Ashu noticed the room’s setup.
Not only were small statues of the Divine Mother Goddess hanging on the doorframe, but every corner was filled with sacred talismans.
It was these holy wards that kept the demon restrained inside the room.
Old Goth wiped sweat from his brow, surprised that the silent young woman had such sharp insight.
"My family bought an antique at a merchant guild auction. After that, my granddaughter started acting strange, gradually becoming like this," Old Goth explained truthfully.
"Bring out the antique." Anna ordered simply.
Old Goth’s face darkened. "It’s already broken. It seemed to be used to seal the demon, but unfortunately..."
Ashu weighed the situation. The demon inside was strong, but he wasn’t weak either. With the blessing of the ’luminous saint,’ he had an inherent counter to demons.
So,
He pulled out a brand-new holy scripture from his pocket—normally, he wouldn’t carry one, but since he was here for the meeting, he brought it along.
He opened to the title page and said, "Open the door. I’m going in to see."
Anna didn’t stop him. Old Goth, feeling a huge relief, carefully moved the Divine Mother Goddess statue aside and slowly cracked the door open.
Looking through the gap, black mist filled the room, and the moment the door opened, the dark energy surged wildly outward.
But as soon as the mist spilled out, it met Ashu’s scripture-wielding presence.
It recoiled like it had been touched by burning flames.
Seeing this, Ashu stepped in confidently.
Wherever he went, a faint golden light radiated around him. This light had absolute dominion over the black mist—like fire against ice.
The black mist retreated step by step wherever he walked.
Until Ashu reached the bed, where a little girl of about seven years old clung to the corner of the wall, wide-eyed.
She let out a low, bestial growl.
Ashu looked up at her calmly, showing no fear.
"I, the ’luminous saint,’ sincerely invite the Divine Mother Goddess to judge the demon before me. Oh Divine Mother Goddess, oh Mother of all, protect me and banish this evil for your child..." Ashu began to pray.
Because of who he was, his prayer was subtly altered.
Sure enough,
Under his prayer, the demon hanging upside down on the wall instantly fell to the floor.
The demon twisted its head unnaturally within the little girl’s body, snarling fiercely, "Get lost, damn Saint! Unless you want to kill this little girl along with me!"
Ashu didn’t care at all. He didn’t respond to the demon’s threat. Instead, gripping the holy scripture tighter, he stepped forward even more.
If his prayer was working, why should he back down?
"Demon, I don’t need to know your name to burn you with the Divine Mother Goddess’s Holy Light. Now you have two choices: obey me, or die."
As Ashu spoke, he subtly revealed a trace of Cidi Evil Power.
After all, he practiced both light and darkness.
