Chapter 46: Chapter 46: There Must Be Someone Better, Keep Looking

Elara had been busy all day. As soon as she got home, she received a WeChat message from Andrew, thoughtfully asking, "Are you home? Was the bus crowded today?"

Elara paused for a moment but then decided to ignore it and put her phone away.

Unexpectedly, Andrew called after a while, and Elara had no choice but to answer, "Hello, Supervisor Chambers, is there something you need?"

Andrew’s voice was like that of a gentle older brother, very calm, "Nothing much, just worried since you didn’t reply. It’s good to know you’re okay."

Elara chuckled awkwardly, "I was busy earlier and didn’t see it."

Andrew asked, "Have you eaten yet?"

Elara had just gotten home and hadn’t had time to eat, but she pursed her lips and replied, "I just finished."

In recent days, Andrew’s attitude towards her had suddenly become more attentive. She was no naïve little girl and could obviously tell Andrew was interested in her.

But she wasn’t interested in Andrew; whether emotionally or mentally, she found it hard to become friends with a man again in a short period.

So she tried her best to avoid any misunderstandings, but Andrew remained enthusiastic. Elara couldn’t find a better way to handle it, so she decided to cool things down for now.

Andrew seemed a bit disappointed by the rejection but smiled gracefully, "Alright, maybe another day. Have a good rest."

"Alright, Supervisor Chambers, you too."

After ending the call, Elara breathed a sigh of relief, only to be startled when she turned around and saw Zion standing at the dining table drinking water, "When did you get back?"

Zion was dressed in sportswear, seemingly just finished working out, with sweat droplets still on his face. As he raised his head to drink water, his Adam’s apple moved enticingly, and Elara couldn’t help but swallow hard.

Her housemate really was dazzling...

Zion twisted the cap back onto the mineral water bottle and placed it on the table, only then saying, "Just got back."

He paused and glanced at her phone, hinting, "A suitor?"

Elara felt a bit embarrassed, "Not really, he hasn’t said it outright, but that seems to be the case..."

Zion remembered his role, doing some mental preparation before eagerly approaching, "How is he? Do you have any feelings for him?"

You could say it was quite gossipy.

Elara strangely saw a hint of Esther in him, though somewhat discordant, it made her feel familiar. Smiling wryly, she explained, "He’s a very gentle person, looks pretty good, and has established his career somewhat. But for now, I’m completely uninterested in men."

Zion imperceptibly breathed a sigh of relief and patted her on the shoulder, "Surely there are even better ones, keep looking."

Elara smiled and nodded, "Right."

At this moment, her phone rang unexpectedly, it was Zara calling.

"Elara, come to the usual spot, I have good news to share with everyone!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Elara curiously asked, "What? Did you win the lottery?"

Zara laughed coldly twice, "Would I treat everyone at a BBQ stall if I won the lottery? Stop talking nonsense, hurry over! Esther’s almost there, there’s only so many skewers, if you’re late, there’ll be none left!"

Elara sighed helplessly, "Alright, I’m heading over now."

After ending the call, she hesitated for a moment and looked at Zion, "I’m meeting friends for dinner, do you want to come along?"

She felt that Zion was a good person, and introducing him to their trio circle seemed like a good idea.

Zion smiled, "I just ate outside, won’t be joining. You all have fun."

He already knew Grandma Fitzwilliam had approached those two people, best not to ruin the atmosphere.

Seeing him genuinely uninterested, Elara didn’t insist, lightly packed up and left.

She walked out of the neighborhood and got on a bus, unaware that a car silently followed her once it caught sight of her.

The usual spot Zara referred to was a barbecue restaurant on a food street. The owner had run it for at least ten years, and the taste was excellent.

They loved coming here while at school, and even though they had graduated, they still occasionally visited.

When Elara arrived, Esther and Zara were already eating, and upon seeing her, they immediately called out, "Quick, come over!"

While eating, Elara asked, "What’s the good news you were talking about?"

Esther complained good-naturedly, "I interrogated for so long, but she wouldn’t tell me, insisting on waiting for you to say it together. Can you tell us now?"

Zara couldn’t hide her smiling mouth, with a mysterious expression, "I—found the right person to marry!"

Esther choked on her water and started coughing violently.

"You, cough, you damn... cough cough cough..."

Elara was also a bit surprised, "So soon?"

Zara took out her phone and showed them the photos, "Here, gentle and elegant, intellectual and generous, most importantly, my parents are satisfied."

The photo showed a very pretty girl, dressed in a traditional Chinese outfit, looking very dignified. Esther was dumbfounded, "Such a gorgeous girl, is she blind? Fell for you?"

Zara angrily knocked on her head with chopsticks, "Shut up!"

Elara gazed at the photo and furrowed her brow slightly. The girl was indeed beautiful, but for some reason, she felt a sense of déjà vu, yet couldn’t remember where she had seen her.

Just then, a surprised voice echoed from behind, "Elara?"

Elara turned her head, stunned for a moment seeing the newcomer.

"Mr. Chambers... you’re here for dinner too?"

Andrew smiled and nodded, "Yes, I had discovered this little shop was great before and planned to share it with you today, but didn’t expect you to arrive earlier."

Elara felt slightly embarrassed, given that not long ago, she just used the excuse of having eaten to politely decline Andrew, only to bump into him now, which was somewhat awkward.

Andrew seemed unfazed, courteously saying, "I came by myself, not much fun eating alone. Mind if I join your table?"

Actually, there’s no choice, the little shop wasn’t big, only a few tables and chairs. Even without his saying so, there wasn’t anywhere else to sit.

Elara could only move inward a bit to make room.

Esther and Zara exchanged a glance, what’s going on here?

Andrew was a great talker, quickly blending in. Esther couldn’t hold back her curiosity and bluntly asked, "Mr. Chambers, are you interested in our Elara?"

Andrew smiled nervously, "I do have those thoughts, but she doesn’t feel the same, so I’m still trying."

Under the table, Esther high-fived Zara, they were right!

If it were before, they would certainly help, but not long ago, Grandma Fitzwilliam had invited them for a talk, and right now, it wasn’t suitable for Elara to shift her attention to men.

In this kind of situation, Esther wasn’t afraid of speaking bluntly, "Don’t get your hopes up, you have no chance, Elara is already..."

The words "married" hadn’t left her mouth when a sharp voice cut in.

A girl suddenly rushed over, holding a brick in her hand, furiously yelling, "Andrew, Elara, what are you doing?!"
