"Away from this?" Aaran laughed. "Sera… this place is teeming with guards. You think I can just disappear without getting caught?"

If he disappeared for long, the Emperor might lose his mind. He didn't want to make things complicated just before he was supposed to leave.

Seraphina crossed her arms, intently staring at Aaran. Of course, getting in or out of the palace was impossible for him. It was the same for an ordinary human.

Fortunately, Seraphina was anything but normal.

"You can agree and leave the rest to me," she said, already chanting a spell.

Aaran sighed. It should be fine to indulge her, right? What could possibly go wrong?

"Fine."

"Hold me, tightly. Oof—"

Perhaps she thought Aaran would blush and reject. That's why she was surprised when he pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her.

"What's next?" he asked, gazing into her eyes.

Seraphina averted her gaze before quickly regaining her composure.

"Now, we fly."

With a stomp on the ground, they soared through the sky. Things like these used to make Aaran jealous in the past, as magicians seemed to have it all. They could conjure water when needed, light a fire without flint, and fly like it was the most normal thing to do.

Subconsciously, Aaran's arms tightened around Seraphina's waist. Her breath hitched as he pulled her closer, but her focus remained on the spell. The slightest distraction might break it and they'd fall twenty feet below to the ground.

Eventually, they landed beyond the palace walls, gasping for air.

"Wasn't that fun?" Seraphina asked, smiling from ear to ear.

Aaran smiled back, shaking his head. He hadn't seen such an adventurous side of Seraphina, ever. She had always been the proper poster child of royalty, but this was anything but proper.

"Okay, so… now what?"

Seraphina didn't reply. She conjured a light and began scanning the ground for something.

"It should be somewhere—Here!"

She dove into the bushes and retrieved two bundles before tossing one to Aaran.

"What's this?" he asked.

"Change of clothes," she replied. "Our clothes are too luxurious to mingle with the public, don't you think?"

"I would think something if I knew what's going inside your head."

Aaran didn't even notice when he stopped being formal with Seraphina. Well, she didn't mind it either.

However, there was a problem.

"Where shall we change?" Aaran asked.

"Here, of course."

Without a warning, Seraphina undid her gown, and it fell under the bushes.

"Sera!"

Aaran clicked his tongue and took off the coat to cover her up while looking the other way.

"You're a princess. Have some decency."

"I brought you along to protect my decency, didn't I?" Seraphina smirked before slipping into a typical commoner dress. "So, what do you think?"

Aaran turned around and… she made him remember why she had been his constant companion throughout his incarnations. Not only was she a capable sorceress, she was one of the most beautiful women the gods had ever created.

[The Goddess of Salvation pouts, asking her priest to wait till he sees her.]

Aaran didn't even pay attention to the notification. His eyes were fixed on Seraphina.

"I'm your fiancee… but it's still rude to stare at someone, you know…"

Her voice snapped Aaran out of his thoughts.

"It's… just that you look even more gorgeous than before," he smiled, awkwardly rubbing the back of his head. "I didn't think it was possible."

The usually confident Seraphina blushed and looked away. While she wanted Aaran to be straightforward with his compliments, she overestimated her heart.

"Y-You should change as w-well."

"No peeking," Aaran chuckled, grabbing the clothes for himself.

However, something was off.

"Um… Sera, this is a… sundress."

Seraphina nearly snapped her neck as she turned. It was indeed a sundress. However, she was looking past the sundress, straight into Aaran's bare torso.

"Sera? SERA?"

"Uh, yeah!"

"The sundress."

Seraphina smacked her head when she realized what had happened. While request for her maid's outfits, she only told her they were for a friend.

She didn't want to reveal she was going out with Aaran. So she didn't take his name. The maid naturally thought the friend was a female and got two sundresses.

Aaran sighed. While he looked attractive, his male features had grown with age. There was no way they could hide his sharp jaw or Adam's apple to pass him off as a female.

"This is quite a surprise, Sera."

"I-I'm sorry…"

Seraphina sat on the ground, her face buried in her hands. Aaran could have ignored her and walked away. But after seeing how much effort she had put in, he didn't want to break her heart.

Besides, he had a walking store at his disposal. He threw the sundress in the inventory and opened the charm store. Soon, he found something decent and wore it.

"Come on, let's go," he said, squatting down beside Seraphina.

She didn't look up and spoke through her fingers.

"There's no need. I failed at planning things—"

"Just get up."

"What will you wear? The sundress?"

"Yes."

Aaran had never seen someone react so fast. Her crying stopped as she looked up to see Aaran dressed in normal clothes, not the sundress. She looked disappointed, and it made Aaran think the mess-up wasn't a mistake.

"Y-You look good!" she said, changing the subject. "Come on, let's go!"

Aaran smiled, shaking his head as Seraphina ran away.

The life in Velrune wasn't a dream. Since most guards were stationed around the palace, there weren't many personnel to regulate the streets, and that's when the real Velrune appeared.

Beggars, street workers, and countless other less fortunate people appeared on the streets. Usually, the knights wouldn't let them walk out of the alleyways, but no one was there to stop them that night.

Aaran held Seraphina firmly by the waist. She didn't know the streets like he did and he wasn't taking any chances when it came to her.

Seraphina didn't mind his overprotectiveness, either. It made her want to act out a bit. Yet she didn't. She wanted to make that night memorable, for the right reason, not as a night where she messed up everything.

"Where are we heading?" Aaran asked her for the fourth time.

"Here!"

Seraphina jumped, exaggeratedly pointing at the sign.
