Who would study psychology unless they had some issues?!-Chapter 120: Listing Remarks
Chapter 120: Listing Remarks
After discussions with the editor, this book will officially be launched tomorrow, January 1st, on New Year’s Day!
Here, I want to thank all the readers who are willing to continue supporting and following this book despite its sporadic updates!
The performance of this book is notoriously poor. If it weren’t for my editor Jiang Cha and Captain Dragonfly’s continuous "Positive Attention" and the continuous "Support" from the readers.
It would have been really difficult to reach today’s launch...
Before writing this book, Panda was always hesitant about how to write it.
Psychological Consultation is a serious subject, and it’s something Panda has always taken seriously as a trained professional.
But on one hand, serious things are hard for everyone to read, and on the other hand, the current market might be too serious, leading to signs of demonization of psychological consultation.
So Panda has been looking for a way to diffuse the seriousness with a light atmosphere but not to the point of being frivolous, maintaining a delicate balance.
So far, it seems to have had some success, and I am very happy about it.
This book is also written for myself.
I have always wanted to write a book on the theme of psychological consultation.
When I was a psychological consultant, I always wanted to be a good person.
But my career exposed me to too many situations that didn’t allow me to be a good person.
I wanted to help others, but I didn’t have the courage to completely sacrifice myself for others, putting my career and even my life on the line.
So I temporarily withdrew from the psychological consultation industry and have yet to return.
Because of this, in this book, I hope the protagonist can be a good person. I hope he can overcome the things that once obstructed me and help his clients; and that when it’s all over, he can come out unscathed, and even have good rewards as a good person.
That was my fantasy about my own profession.
Nan Zhubin is actually a homophonic play on words meaning "difficult to help people."
Some readers have asked whether the protagonist can use fewer "underhanded tactics," and try to rely solely on professional knowledge, using psychological consultation within the consultation room to help the clients?
It’s a good question. But what can be done in the consultation room is really very limited; sometimes, the main issue with psychological problems doesn’t lie with the client at all.
When I once faced these clients, I really wanted to shout at them: Wake up, it’s not you who’s wrong, it’s really this world!
But doing so might unceremoniously cost me my job, so I didn’t do it.
Speaking of which, I started to care about the issue raised by readers; because even in the book, having the protagonist test the boundaries of consultation ethics was a big challenge for me.
So I am also revising it.
In the future, I will try to ensure that professional issues are solved within professional boundaries.
...
Above is my psychological journey of writing the book.
Lastly, let’s talk about the update issue.
After launch, there will be two updates per day!
Please allow me to explain this.
Firstly, the author hasn’t taken a holiday yet; it’s the end of term week...
Secondly, a lot of research is required for this book...
Since I started graduate school, most of the papers I’ve read aren’t even related to my research direction; they’re all reference books and papers to enrich this book...
Plus, I need to ponder the dialogue between the clients and the consultant, trying to make them as smooth as possible.
So, progress is really slow...
This book is not written in the direction of a conventional feel-good story.
So, I’m trying to maintain quality.
You all can understand that, right? You can, right? You certainly can, right?
I heard you, you’re saying you can!
It’s New Year’s Eve today, and tomorrow is New Year’s Day. The author has shut himself in a small dark room to write.
So—it’s worth subscribing, right?
The above.
