With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods-Chapter 1407: Lion Hill
"Ouch, you really don’t hold back at all."
Lin Fan looked at the guild master with a faint smile on his face when he heard this.
After all, he had been caught off with the ability that the guild master had demonstrated.
At first, Lin Fan thought that he would be able to easily handle the guild master.
But he quickly found that the guild master really wasn’t that simple.
The muscles that he had weren’t just for show.
Though in the first place, Lin Fan did also restrict himself from showing off too much. He was only showing the standard of a S Ranker, it wasn’t as if he was showing off all his strength.
Still, the guild master showed that he was not only able to keep up with a S Ranker, he was also able to suppress normal S Rankers.
Lin Fan couldn’t help wondering just how strong the guild master was before he retired to become a guild master.
But that wasn’t the main event today.
Once the guild master caught his breath, he stood up and walked over to the couch to sit down. Even though half the couch was missing, he was actually sitting on it better than before.
After all, the couch had been a bit too small for the guild master previously.
It was the kind of couch that was normal sized for other people, but it wasn’t the same for this guild master who was a walking mountain of muscles. Only without the handrests there, it really made it much more open for this guild master.
Once he sat down, the guild master took out something from a cabinet that was under the half destroyed table. If they had missed by even an inch, then it would have been destroyed as well during the fight.
Taking this report out, he placed it on the table and said, "This is all the information that you requested. Go ahead and take a look."
Lin Fan was surprised by how forward the guild master was, but it wasn’t as if he was going to say no to someone offering something like this to him.
When he sat down and read the reports, a surprised look appeared on his face.
After all, this report was much more accurate than he thought it would be.
It was as if they had been watching over the lion on Lion Hill for a long time.
It was to the point where one might even consider it obsessive stalking if it wasn’t for the fact that it was an animal.
But it wasn’t as if Lin Fan didn’t know the reason why they were this vigilant of this place.
He had already heard of the deeds of this lion that lived on Lion Hill and even if he didn’t, everything was already listed in the report that he was reading.
Seven villages, two towns, and half a city.
That was the list of damages that had been caused by this lion over the years.
Though most of it had been caused a long time ago, when the lion was considered younger. Now that the lion was much older, it seemed like it didn’t have the same reckless personality that it once had and now settled on Lion Hill.
From the reports that he had received from the Laver Empire, Lin Fan also knew that this was an understated list of damages that had been given to him in this report. He knew from the information provided by the Laver Empire’s information network that there were far more damages, it was just that no one had survived to report it.
It was only with a network like the Laver Empire’s information network that they were able to find this information.
Other than the damages, there were all kinds of reports on what kind of lion this was.
This lion was a magic beast and not just any normal magic beast, it was a special kind of magic beast that suppressed all other beasts in the vicinity since it was a magic beast that was destined to be a king.
At the same time, it had a very special ability.
"Even you can’t penetrate its hide?" Lin Fan suddenly asked the guild master.
A wry smile appeared on the guild master’s face before he shook his head to say with a sigh, "Even I can’t do anything against that beast. That beast really is one of a kind, its hardness is on a completely different level."
Then with a more serious look on his face, the guild master said, "To harm a beast of that caliber, I believe that several forbidden spells would need to be used."
But even though he said this, it didn’t seem like there was any confidence in his eyes.
This was the look of someone that had already experienced the sting of defeat before and it wasn’t just any kind of defeat. For him to show this kind of expression, this was a defeat that had been complete with no chance of fighting back.
It seemed like this guild master wasn’t just someone that was able to leave things as they were.
He was a person that was a man of action, so it wasn’t as if he could just watch as the lion terrorized the people like this.
But in the end, it didn’t seem like he was able to do anything to help.
In the end, it seemed like he had been completely defeated by the lion which broke his spirit.
Though he was also quite capable as he was able to escape from the lion in the end.
Only it felt like there was something that the guild master wasn’t saying with the trace of worry that was in his eyes as he looked at Lin Fan.
Lin Fan didn’t say anything as he looked at the guild master with one brow raised.
Eventually, the guild master said with a sigh, "Just treat this as me talking to myself."
The story that the guild master told was one from a while ago when he was still an active adventurer.
As Lin Fan expected, the guild master was someone that had been a S Rank Adventurer. Not just that, he was someone that had been the head of a S Rank Party.
He certainly wasn’t a pushover when it came to hierarchy among the adventurers.
But the reason that he retired and became a guild master was all because of that lion on Lion Hill.
"In the end, only half of us were able to come back from trying to hunt that lion. I was able to escape without any lasting injuries because of my defenses, but my party members weren’t so lucky..."
Though the guild master didn’t tell Lin Fan exactly what happened, Lin Fan could already guess from the expression on his face so he didn’t ask anything else.
"I know this is hard for you, but are you sure that you didn’t find any weakness with the lion’s defenses?"
"Ha, if we could find something like that, would we have failed back then? All I can say is that this thing isn’t weak at all, so you better be careful." The guild master’s voice filled with a bit of helplessness at this.
It seemed like he recognized that there was nothing that he could say to convince Lin Fan out of this idea. So in the end, he had no choice but to let Lin Fan go ahead with this since he had already passed the test.
After all, it wasn’t for no reason that the guild master had attacked Lin Fan like that.
He was testing Lin Fan to see if he would be able to face the lion or else he couldn’t just watch as Lin Fan threw his life away. Or even worse, he couldn’t watch as Lin Fan provoked the lion and caused trouble for the surrounding area.
Lin Fan gave a simple nod in response to this and didn’t ask anything else since he knew that there was no point in asking anything.
At this point, it seemed like there was nothing else that the guild master had to offer him.
But before leaving, Lin Fan did ask one thing.
"Do you know if there’s a good place for me to pick up some potions and supplies?"
When the guild master heard this, he immediately perked up and returned to his professional tone.
"There’s some things that you can pick up at our branch, but I’m sure that you won’t be satisfied with just that. For a S Rank Adventurer like you, I’m sure that you’ll want the best of the best."
"If you’re going to face that beast, then you’ll need it."
Lin Fan heard what the guild master said under his breath with his sharp hearing, but he didn’t say anything to expose the guild master.
Instead, he just watched as the guild master stood up to walk over to his desk.
He took out a few pieces of paper and a pen before he started writing.
From what Lin Fan could see, he could tell that these were introduction letters for him.
It seemed like the guild master was planning on sending him to different places in the city.
"These are introduction letters for some of the places that I used to shop in. At the same time, there are a few stores that my friends run. I’m sure that you’ll be able to get what you want from there."
The friends of a former S Ranker definitely wouldn’t be normal.
Though in reality, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan really needed anything.
The only reason that he had asked was to change the topic and put the guild master at ease.
