Chapter 67: Soul Devouring Emperor

As they were observing, the tendrils suddenly reacted and began pulling back slowly, retreating from every surface of the cavern at once. Seeing that movement, everyone immediately took fighting positions, their weapons drawn as their auras sharpened in preparation.

The tendrils did not scatter but instead converged toward the boy, slipping back into his body one after another in an unnatural and almost fluid motion. As they entered him, they merged seamlessly, as if they had always been part of him, leaving no trace behind.

The moment the last tendril disappeared, his body began emitting terrifying fluctuations that felt unstable yet overwhelmingly oppressive. The aura around him surged irregularly, like something incomplete forcing itself into existence through sheer will.

The boy slowly opened his eyes, and for a brief moment, fear and regret could be clearly seen within them. However, that expression did not last long, as something else began to overwrite it, swallowing everything that made him human.

His body stiffened suddenly, freezing in place as if he was resisting something from deep within his own mind. That resistance lasted only a moment before it collapsed completely, his movements resuming as if he had given in to something far stronger.

Then, without warning, the ground beneath him cracked apart violently, and his figure vanished from where he stood. In the next instant, he appeared directly in front of one of the disciples, his movement so fast it felt like teleportation.

Just as he was about to reach out and grab her, a powerful kick struck him from the side, stopping him instantly. Han Leu had moved at the exact moment, sending the boy flying straight into the cavern wall with immense force.

The impact embedded him into the rock, leaving cracks spreading outward from where his body struck as debris fell around him. For a brief moment, he remained still, unmoving as if the attack had completely disabled him.

Then, slowly, he began to move again as he pulled himself out of the wall and looked toward them, his gaze sweeping across everyone as if carefully analyzing each of them one by one. That eerie calmness returned to his face, replacing everything that had been there before.

A creepy smile slowly formed on his lips and in the next instant, his figure vanished again and reappeared directly behind Chu Yue, his speed making it seem as if space itself had folded. His hand moved toward her without hesitation, the attack precise and sudden.

However, just before it could land, a golden shield erupted around her body, stopping the strike mid-motion with a sharp impact. At the same time, several talismans attached to her shattered instantly, their light fading as they completed their purpose.

The moment the golden shield shattered, the entire cavern seemed to react as the pressure spiked instantly, making the air itself feel heavier. Chu Yue didn’t hesitate even for a second as she slid forward, creating distance while already drawing another arrow.

The string snapped as frost gathered violently, and the arrow shot out with a sharp whistle straight toward the boy’s head. At the same time, Lin Xiaotian stepped in from the side, his movement controlled as he raised his hand and condensed qi into a sharp strike.

The boy could have easily dodged the incoming arrow, yet he ignored it completely as if he was incapable of even basic defense. The arrow struck cleanly and froze over his body, and at that exact moment Lin Xiaotian’s qi blade followed right behind without delay.

Both attacks landed together, but the boy simply shattered them apart as if they held no real threat to him. Frost cracked, qi dispersed, and in the next instant his figure vanished again without leaving even a trace behind.

This time he appeared directly behind Xiaoshan, his movement so abrupt that it felt like space itself had folded for him. His hand shot forward toward Xiaoshan’s back without hesitation, carrying that same unstable yet terrifying pressure.

But Xiaoshan reacted instantly, bringing his halberd up in front of him with a sharp motion just in time. The moment the boy’s hand collided with the blade; a sharp crack echoed as the force split around the weapon instead of passing through it.

The impact forced Xiaoshan back slightly, but the boy did not press further and instead stepped away on his own. He looked down at his hand calmly, watching as the damaged flesh began regenerating slowly in a way that felt unnatural.

The skin twisted and reformed in uneven layers, as if something new was reconstructing him piece by piece instead of restoring what was originally there. Even his aura flickered slightly during the process, unstable yet adapting with each passing second.

The boy did not stop after that moment, as if that brief pause had only sharpened something inside him. His figure flickered again, appearing at different angles without warning as he began attacking relentlessly, forcing everyone into pure defense.

His movements had no clear pattern, no rhythm that could be predicted, as if he was learning while fighting. Each strike came faster than the last, more precise, more dangerous, as if he was adapting to every single reaction they made.

A disciple was the first to falter, barely raising his weapon in time as the boy’s hand struck down with crushing force. The impact threw him backward instantly, but before the follow-up could land, Tianhe intercepted from the side, diverting the attack just enough to save him.

"Stay focused!" Han Leu shouted sharply as his sword cut through another incoming strike aimed at one of the weaker disciples. His movements became faster, shifting constantly as he covered multiple angles, but even he was starting to get pressured.

Chu Yue did not stop firing, her arrows coming one after another, forcing the boy to adjust his path repeatedly. Yet even then, he began slipping through the gaps, appearing in blind spots where her arrows could not reach in time.

Xiaoshan stepped forward again, taking another hit head-on as he blocked with his halberd, his body trembling under the force. He barely held his ground, buying a second of time for Lin Xiaotian to step in and force the boy back with a sharp qi strike.

But that was not enough at all.

The boy vanished again and this time he appeared in the middle of the formation, attacking without hesitation as multiple disciples reacted too slowly. One after another, they were forced back, barely surviving through combined effort and desperate coordination.

The truth is this was not a fight but a one-sided endurance battle.
