Working as a police officer in Mexico-Chapter 1638 - 750: The Great Banker Heist
Chapter 1638 -750: The Great Banker Heist
Before Little Bush’s words had fallen, the heavy oak door of the reception room was suddenly slammed open from the outside with a loud bang!
“Bang!”
It wasn’t the familiar black suits of the Special Service agents, but a dozen armed personnel in dark combat uniforms holding M4 carbines who burst in.
On their armbands was a simple family insignia—belonging to the private army of the Bush family!
In the chaos before, when the Federation allowed major families to establish their own forces to “maintain local order,” the Bush family naturally didn’t fall behind.
This sudden show of force caused the bankers’ representatives, who had been sitting quietly, to erupt instantly. The screech of chairs on the floor resounded, with many startled into standing up, their faces filled with shock and disbelief.
“What does this mean?!”
“Bush! What are you trying to do?!”
“Mr. President! Please explain this behavior immediately!”
After a brief chaos and outcry, there was even greater anger.
Who were they?
They were the titans controlling the financial lifeline of the country and even the world, never having been treated so rudely and brutally, much less at the White House, with the President pointing a private army’s gun at them!
The representative from the Morgan Consortium, an elderly man with meticulously combed hair, looked ashen, “George W. Bush! Do you know what you are doing? You are making an enemy of the entire capital world! You are cutting yourself off from all who support you! Don’t forget, your position here depends on our support!”
The words were naked and direct.
Little Bush didn’t directly answer the old man’s question but abruptly turned to look at his Chief of Staff, Carl Rove, whose face was equally ugly, and barked, “Carl! You! Tell them! Tell them what I represent now!”
Rove swallowed, “According to… according to the ‘1917 Trading with the Enemy Act’ and its subsequent amendments, and given the current state of ‘war’ and ‘rebellion,’ the President, as the Commander-in-Chief, has the authority to temporarily take over and manage any financial institutions and their operations that might impact national security and war efforts… including, including requesting the suspension of specific debts…”
“Did you hear?!”
Before Rove could finish stammering, Little Bush interrupted directly, slamming both hands onto the heavy mahogany conference table with a loud “bang,” leaning forward almost to the bankers’ faces, saliva almost spraying out, “Usually! Usually, I can turn a blind eye while you bleed this country dry for your full pockets! But now? It’s a time of national survival! When soldiers on the front line are being destitute because you extorted their blood money, causing divisions to collapse and surrender en masse!”
His voice was hoarse, carrying a kind of hysterical desperation and madness: “You don’t want this country to do well? Fine! Then let’s all die together! No one gets to live!”
“Let’s all die together!”
As he spoke, Little Bush abruptly straightened up, snatching an M16 rifle from a private soldier beside him, brutally pulling the charging handle with a “clack,” loading a bullet! The dark muzzle swept over the terrified faces before him.
“You!”
He pointed the muzzle at these usually influential bankers, “Now, stay here for me; nowhere else is allowed. I want to see which bank, which consortium, dares not to obey! Anyone who dares be a turtle hiding its head now is a traitor! The enemy of America!”
“Take them all down for me! Separate them and watch them!” Little Bush shouted at the leader of the private soldiers.
“Yes, Sir!”
The wolf-like private soldiers immediately stepped forward, roughly pushing and scolding, forcibly escorting those bankers’ representatives who were loudly protesting, trying to reason or even threaten, out of the reception room.
When only Little Bush, Chief of Staff Rove, the complex-eyed Defense Minister Green, and a few core confidants were left in the room, the suffocatingly frenzied atmosphere seemed to slightly ease.
He paused, looking at everyone, “In the name of the White House and the Department of Justice, call the headquarters of these banks on the list. Tell them their representatives are now detained for ‘suspected threat to national security and treason.’ They are required within an hour to issue an official announcement to unconditionally extend all mortgage loans, credit card debt repayment periods for all active, fallen, and missing soldiers’ families until at least 180 days after the war ends, and immediately halt all collection and asset recovery procedures against those families!”
He suddenly turned his blood-red eyes to Rove and Green: “Tell them, this is an order, not a request! If any bank refuses to cooperate…”
“I will, as the wartime President and Commander-in-Chief, sign an order declaring that bank a ‘traitorous institution’; its assets will be immediately frozen, and its management arrested! As for their representatives here…”
He raised his hand, making a trigger-pulling gesture.
“They will be executed on the spot for treason!”
Defense Minister Green couldn’t help but speak, “George, this is too extreme! This will trigger a financial tsunami! The whole of Wall Street will…”
“Then let the tsunami come!”
Little Bush roared, interrupting him, pointing outside, though nothing was visible there, “Look outside, Green! Look at the fire in Detroit, look at the soldiers surrendering in Indiana; A financial tsunami? Is anything bigger than the complete collapse of the country? They’ve already put a knife to our throats! Do we still care if they catch a cold?!”
