Capítulo 1654: Chapter 755: You Think I’m a Loser?! (2)

“We are forced to fight back!”

Hmm…

It’s just on the other side’s territory, do you have any comments?

The second question came from BBC’s John Harrison, whose style was more direct, even with a hint of challenge:

“Mr. President, you seem dismissive of the formation of the ‘Freedom Alliance’ and its declared strong countermeasures. But it can’t be denied that this alliance controls the important ‘Heartland’ of the United States. They have announced a war fund of up to $12 billion, providing huge bonuses for soldiers and forcing banks to freeze soldier debts. These measures are clearly aimed at uniting people’s hearts and boosting morale. Have you underestimated this new emerging opponent? How will you respond to the more effective and fervent resistance they might launch after integrating resources, which could surpass the federal government?”

Upon hearing this question, Victor revealed a slight sneer of disdain.

“‘Freedom Alliance’? It’s nothing but a gaggle of petty politicians.”

His evaluation was brief and extremely insulting, “A bunch of local politicians trying to seize power in the name of freedom when Washington’s authority crumbles.”

“Their so-called massive funding and soldier bonuses sound appealing, but where does the money come from? It’s either more crazy money printing or more cruelly squeezing their already struggling populace. They accuse the federal government of incompetence, yet they themselves can’t even guarantee the basic subsistence of their subjects!”

He raised his voice a little, “As they high-profiled announce the formation of the alliance and squander huge sums on armaments, according to the information we have, in their controlled areas, the number of civilians dying due to the collapse of the healthcare system and food shortages is rapidly increasing! Bodies piling up might be a bit of an exaggeration, but the occurrence of deaths from hunger, at the doorstep of the 21st century in North America, is simply a disgrace to civilization! What right do they have to talk about ‘defending homeland’? They can’t even protect the lives of their own people! This kind of alliance, riddled with internal contradictions, uneven resource distribution, and lacking a unified and effective command system, their so-called ‘fervent resistance’ is nothing but a desperate bluster that will collapse upon the slightest touch.”

Victor took a deep breath and said with a smile, “If Mr. Little Bush agrees and allows, we can deploy troops to help quell the rebellion! We have no interest in American land. As for California and Texas, they have belonged to Mexico since ancient times!”

This statement justified and well-argued, was actually just “fallacious reasoning.”

How could Little Bush possibly agree to his evaluation?

Do you think Little Bush is Luo Shaowei of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms?

Or do you think Boss Wei is Zhu Wen? 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Lastly, it was the turn for a journalist from the Mexican National Broadcasting Company (TNM) to ask questions.

His question was much milder, focusing on domestic affairs:

“Mr. President, war will undoubtedly impact the economy and social operations. Many Mexican citizens are concerned about how the current international situation and military investment will affect our country’s future economic development and welfare of people’s lives. Does the government have confidence to maintain price stability and the job market, and continue advancing various social welfare programs?”

In front of his national media, Victor’s expression softened considerably, and his tone became more pragmatic and determined.

“This is a very important question, and please convey my confidence to all the citizens through you.”

He looked straight at the TNM camera, “Yes, we are in a special period, and military expenditure does indeed put some pressure on the national finances, but I can state clearly that our economic fundamentals are stable, and our fiscal and monetary policies have enough elasticity and toolbox to face the challenges.”

Victor’s remarks during the joint interview in Cancun, his comment about ‘Freedom Alliance’ as “a gaggle of petty politicians,” and his assertion that intervening in North America was for “protecting overseas Chinese” and “preventing a humanitarian disaster” were quickly spread to all corners of the world through the lenses and pens of TNM, BBC, and CNN.

The most intense reaction naturally came from the freshly declared “Freedom Alliance.”

The Governor of Kentucky, upon learning of Victor’s remarks, angrily smashed a beloved crystal ashtray in his office at the State Legislative Building. “This arrogant tyrant!”

He roared at a group of advisors and representatives from other allied states, “We must wake him up with more fierce artillery! Let him know that ‘a gaggle of petty politicians’ can also rip the hunter’s throat!”

The media controlled by the alliance went full throttle to verbally assault Victor, portraying him as a “modern Xi XX full of lies and bloodlust,” repeatedly broadcasting the desolate scenes of Gerry City after being attacked, emphasizing the “invasive nature” of the Mexican Army and the “determination to defend the homeland” by the alliance’s military and civilians.

Compared to the explosive rage of the ‘Freedom Alliance’, the reaction of the international community was more complex and cautious.

The official statements from European countries were mostly identical, repeating diplomatic rhetoric like “deep concern,” “urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint,” “avoiding further escalation of the situation,” etc.

But privately, the communications of diplomats and strategic analysts were almost overloaded.

“Victor is more confident and also more dangerous than we imagined,” a senior EU diplomat wrote in an internal briefing, “He completely disregards the deterrence of ‘Freedom Alliance’, even seeing it as a joke. This indicates either he has countermeasures unknown to us or he’s so crazily indifferent to mutual destruction. Either case is the worst.”

Of course, these have nothing to do with ordinary people.
