Working as a police officer in Mexico-Chapter 1815 - 797: Our Wish Is... (3)
Capítulo 1815: Chapter 797: Our Wish Is… (3)
The news of the successful operation has already spread internally, with a restrained excitement filling the command center.
“All drones returned, no losses,” the technician reported. “The Hummingbird reconnaissance aircraft captured the morning footage of Guatemala City; the situation is stable, without major unrest.”
“What about the air force base?”
“Three A-37s are completely destroyed, but the runway and other facilities remain intact. The new interim president of Guatemala has ordered the troops to return to the barracks, awaiting further instructions.”
Bramo nodded, turning to Victor sitting in the corner: “All first-phase objectives achieved.”
Victor’s table was spread with a dozen documents, but at the moment he was looking out the window, where the dawn had just broken.
“What about casualties?”
“Two of our people lightly injured, both scratched during the operation. On the enemy side: 9 manor guards dead, 14 injured; 23 Government Forces soldiers coming to aid dead, 11 injured; no casualties at the air force base.”
“Very good!”
Victor said with a smile.
Casare pushed the door open, holding a freshly printed telegram: “The response from London has arrived. The Prime Minister issued a statement, strongly condemning our ‘illegal invasion,’ demanding the immediate release of Salisbury and return to the United Kingdom, or they will consider ‘all necessary measures.'”
“All necessary measures?”
Bramo frowned, “What else can they do? Send a fleet? Their aircraft carrier is rusting in the dock.”
“Diplomatic pressure, economic sanctions, isolating us with allied partners.” Victor said, “We need to quickly propose a motion at the United Nations, demanding an investigation into the United Kingdom’s interference in the Latin American region.”
“It’s already arranged.” Casare replied, “The Minister of Foreign Affairs is contacting ambassadors from France, Germany, and Russia. The initial feedback… is better than expected.”
“Oh?”
“The French hinted they are dissatisfied with the UK’s ‘unilateral actions,’ believing it undermines Europe’s overall interest balance in Latin America. The Germans are more direct, saying if the UK cannot explain why a former intelligence officer was plotting a border conflict in Guatemala, they will reconsider their intelligence-sharing agreement with the UK.”
Victor raised an eyebrow: “What about Big Bear?”
“As always, glad to see it happening.”
Casare smiled, “The ambassador to the United Nations has already expressed support for Mexico’s ‘counterterrorism action’ and is willing to veto if the UK attempts to push a sanctions motion.”
Bramo whistled: “Seems like the British are quite isolated this time.”
“That’s because they’re too greedy.”
Victor walked to the map, “Trying to create trouble for us in North America and Latin America simultaneously, and wanting to involve all of Europe. But Europe is not monolithic; the French have always wanted to weaken the UK’s influence within the European Union, the Germans are more concerned with economic stability. As for the Americans—”
He pointed to the fragmented “Trust Zones” in the Five Great Lakes region on the map: “They’re barely managing themselves.”
“But we still need to be cautious.”
Casare said, “The British have been playing dirty tricks for centuries, even without aircraft carriers, they have other methods. Financial warfare, inciting internal rebellion… Bramo, your ‘Silicon Valley’ project needs to be accelerated.”
Bramo nodded: “Dr. Turing’s team has made a breakthrough in cryptography; this time successfully cracking the UK’s encrypted communications is thanks to their efforts. Von Braun’s drone production line has already expanded, and next month the output can double. But we need more talent, especially in cybersecurity and intelligence fields.”
“Then go find them.” Victor said, “No matter where in the world, no matter the method. Money is not an issue, compensation is not an issue. Tell them, Mexico is building the future, and they can be the architects.”
“Already doing it.”
Bramo opened his notebook, “We’ve identified seventeen targets, located in Germany, Israel, and India.”
Just then, the technician suddenly shouted: “Advisor Bramo, there’s abnormal network traffic!”
Bramo quickly walked to the monitoring console: “What’s the situation?”
“Coming… from the direction of London. Large-scale data packets attempting to infiltrate our government network firewall. The attack pattern is complex, at least a state-level hacker organization’s work.”
“The British made their move this quickly?” Casare frowned.
“Unlikely.” Bramo stared at the code stream on the screen, “This technique… seems familiar. Wait, I’ve seen this attack signature.”
He quickly tapped the keyboard, pulling up a file: “Three months ago, in our network monitoring of the remaining American forces, we captured a similar attack pattern. The analysis at the time suggested it was work by the ‘Ghost Party’ hacker group hired by the Phoenix Society.”
“So it’s not the British, but the Phoenix Society?”
“Or the British hired the Phoenix Society.” 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Bramo’s fingers flew across the keyboard, “No matter who it is, they picked the wrong target. Activate the ‘Deep Blue Shield’ active defense system.”
The technician hesitated: “Advisor, it might cause… permanent damage to the attack source.”
“Then let them be damaged.” Bramo said, “Tell the world that Mexico’s cyberspace is not a playground.”
Bramo glanced at the clock, then looked at Victor.
Victor only thought for two seconds: “Do it.”
The command was given.
The command center’s big screen switched to the network defense system interface. Complex code streams flowed like a waterfall, with red attack arrows extending from the direction of London, colliding into a blue barrier.
Then, the barrier suddenly cracked, but it wasn’t breached—it actively opened, releasing countless small blue light particles, tracing the attack path backwards.
