World Domination Begins With Getting a System in a Modern World-Chapter 134: Going High-End Shopping
Chapter 134: Going High-End Shopping
The soft glow of morning light filtered through the curtains as James stirred awake, his hand blindly reaching for his phone on the nightstand.
The screen lit up in response to his touch, and at the top of the notifications was a fresh email from the Bel-Air Country Club.
Still rubbing sleep from his eyes, he tapped on it.
Subject: Friday Gatherings – Member Access
Inside, two events were listed — both taking place today:
Chef’s Table Lunch – Veranda Dining (12:30 PM – 2:00 PM)
Formal Dinner & Wine Pairing Night (6:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
James stared at the screen, blinking slowly before a grin tugged at the corner of his lips.
He collapsed back into the pillows, the phone resting loosely in his hand
Besides the name of the gathering and their time, no other information was given but James was fine with it.
He understood that these two are part of the gatherings are opened up to him as a new member. And according to the email, the two are gatherings that takes place every Friday.
And today’s the day — the day he makes his appearance into high society and it will be through the afternoon gathering.
He understood that the two gatherings weren’t just about the food or wine. They were rites of passage. Social checkpoints. His invitation alone was proof he’d stepped into a new realm of life.
Though he probably won’t attract much attention as today would be his first appearance there, but he will make sure to leave a lasting and solid first impression. Letting people remember his face, if not his name.
He wasn’t naïve enough to expect attention on his first appearance, but if he was going to show up, he’d do it right.
And that meant looking the part.
He glanced at his wardrobe and sighed. Sure, he had a decent collection now, but nothing that fit the exact dress codes of a Chef’s Table lunch or a formal wine dinner at a place like Bel-Air Country Club.
"The first gathering is in the afternoon and I don’t have the appropriate outfit for it or the second. Seems like I will be going shopping," he muttered.
He didn’t waste time as he quickly got out of bed and went to the bathroom.
After a quick trip to the bathroom to freshen up, he changed into a simple pair of grey joggers and a black t-shirt, combed his hair neatly, and headed downstairs.
The aroma of breakfast — freshly scrambled eggs, buttered toast, and sizzling sausage — met him halfway down the stairs.
He strolled into the kitchen, placed a soft peck on Patty’s cheek, and greeted her warmly.
"Morning, Patty."
"Morning, sweetheart. Breakfast is almost ready." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
James smiled at Leslie, who gave him a quick once-over and returned his greeting with a playful smile of her own.
Since they were almost done with breakfast, he decided to wait at the dining table, and he left the kitchen.
While he waited, James sat at the dining table and pulled up his Info Screen, with eyes scanning the familiar blue interface.

As he checked his Info Screen, he sighed as there has been no significant changes. Except the fact that he no longer has any rebate eligible funds and his account balance has reduced by more than half after he funded his wallets with $30 million, there was nothing else.
But James wasn’t worried about money or the fact that his account balance reduced as that was just temporary.
But he felt down a little because he has 3,000 system points and he can’t use them.
He couldn’t help but wish that he could quickly complete his mission and unlock the system store faster. But he was still satisfied with the current pace of things.
Also, although he has no idea what’s inside the system but he was sure that whatever it is will be very useful to him.
It was at times like this that he wishes that the system’s voice was still around and he can ask it questions.
While he was still deep in thought, Patty and Leslie started setting the table.
A couple of seconds later, they all started eating.
As they ate, James mentioned the email he’d received and the two events taking place today.
Patty and Leslie both nodded in understanding.
"You should go," Patty said. "These kinds of events are good for... whatever it is you’re building or planning."
"I will," James replied. "But I need new clothes. The right kind. This is high society, not just another rich boys’ club."
Leslie put down her fork and looked at him with mock seriousness.
"You? Shopping by yourself? You’ll walk out of there looking like a hedge fund intern with no sense of balance."
"Oh really?"James arched an eyebrow.
"Yes. Which is why I’m coming with you," she said, lifting her chin slightly like it was non-negotiable.
James laughed and nodded.
"Alright, alright. I was hoping you’d say that anyway."
James smiled in understanding when he heard what she said, as he understood the actual reason why she wants to go with him, and it’s because she wants to spend more time with him. But he wasn’t bothered by that and actually appreciates Leslie coming with him.
Patty smiled as she watched the two of them banter.
"Leslie, help him to choose something good and ask for help from the staffs there too."
James and Leslie nodded in understanding at Patty’s words.
With that, they continued eating their breakfast. After they were done, James stood up, gave Patty a peck on the cheek
"I’ll go grab the key fob," he said, heading upstairs.
He took the key fob to the Lexus LS500. As he walked back down the hall, he saw Leslie disappearing into her room — no doubt to change into something stylish and show-stopping, as always.
He smiled and went downstairs. He left the car parked in the driveway last night, so there was no need to drive it out of the garage.
He sat down on a couch, waiting for Leslie and while he waited, he went through the internet for ideas on what type of outfit would be ideal for each of the gatherings he have to attend.
"What to wear to a Chef’s Table luncheon?"
"Formal wine tasting attire – high society edition"
"Dress codes at private country clubs explained"
These were the topics he searched.
He wanted to make sure he didn’t just look expensive — he wanted to look like he belonged.
Just as he finished reading a thread on subtle accessory choices, Leslie came down the stairs.
She wore a white off-shoulder blouse tucked into a high-waisted navy skirt, with soft curls framing her face and light makeup highlighting her blue eyes.
"Ready?" she asked with a smile, slipping her phone into a designer crossbody bag.
James stood, offering her his arm.
"Let’s go."
With Leslie ready to go, the two of them greeted Patty before leaving.
They got into the car and James started the engine, and the Lexus purred to life, its polished body gleaming under the morning sun.
As James pulled drove down the driveway and the automated gate opened, he gave Leslie a quick glance.
"Rodeo Drive?" he asked.
"Where else?" she grinned.
They hit the road, heading straight toward the luxury shopping heart of Beverly Hills — the place where the world’s top designers set up their shrines to wealth and style.
