James parked in the parking lot of the restaurant and came down from the car. He went to open the door for Patty, who slowly got out of the car.
"Élysée Nocturne? This place looks nice," Leslie said, as she took out of the car.
"Yeah and expensive." Patty added.
James smiled at Patty's and Leslie's words, but he decided to not comment on anything as he would leave the restaurant to do the talking.
"Come on, let's go inside," he said, as he started to the restaurant's door.
The three of them walked into the restaurant and they were greeted by a very beautiful and serene scene.
"The name used to make the reservation, please?" A elderly man, who stood by the door, with a tab in his hands, asked.
"James Zolomon," James replied.
The man tapped the tab in his hand and a next moment, he raised his head and nodded at James, confirming that there's a reservation to his name.
James smiled and started walking towards a random table, with Leslie and Patty quickly following behind him.
They took their seat and Leslie took a quick look around, taking note of everything.
The restaurant was half empty — half full —and there was a lot of spaces between each occupied table, and these empty spaces were occupied by empty tables, but it was actually the aura surrounding the guests that attracted her attention.
Just a glance at them and Leslie immediately understood that these people were wealthy. Their clothes and accessories, though not flashy, but even from a distance, she could see that they were of high quality.
"The place looks even nicer on the inside and from what I can see, it's very expensive," she said in a low voice, and she turned looked at James.
The restaurant's atmosphere was quiet and Leslie didn't want to ruin it, and so, she spoke in a low voice.
"Wait? Why are you looking at me like that?" James asked curiously, when he felt Leslie staring at him.
"You're going all out for this celebration dinner of yours. This place looks very expensive," she replied.
"You don't have to worry and I was the one that chosen it if it was going to be too much for me or if it would affect me later.
You guys should stop overthinking things and start placing your orders," James said with a smile, and picked up one of the tabletop menu on the table.
He was aware that Leslie was trying to make sure that he wasn't being extravagant and wasteful, and he appreciates it. But he just wants them to enjoy their dinner without worrying too much about anything.
"Don't worry, Leslie. We will try not to order anything too expensive. Just watch the prices of the food you're ordering," Patty said, as she picked up a tabletop menu.
James heard what Patty said and smiled. He wonder what her reaction would be when she opens the tabletop menu in her hand.
Patty opened the tabletop menu and was about to start looking through it, to order the cheapest food, but she was confused when she saw there was no price attached to the menus.
She felt that there might be a mistake with the tabletop menu in her hand and she looked at Leslie, but from the look on Leslie's face, she knew that they were both experiencing the same thing.
Patty turned to look at James and she saw the tabletop menu in his hand turned to her, and just like hers, there was no price attached to the menus.
"You guys don't have to worry. This is how the restaurant make their menu," James said, with a smile.
Patty opened her mouth was about to say something but James shook his head, and she slowly closed her mouth.
"Like I said, don't overthink things and just order. The both of you don't have to worry about my pocket," James said, as he unclipped the pen attached the tabletop and started ticking the menus he wants.
When he was done, he raised his hand, signalling for the waiter to come attend to them.
"Sir, what can I get you?" The waiter, an middle-aged man asked.
James gave the waiter his tabletop menu that already has what he wants ticked, and the waiter nodded.
After collecting James' order, the waiter turned to look at Leslie and Patty, wanting to take their order, but the two women were surprised and were without a clue on how to make their order in a place that doesn't put the prices of their menus for customers.
Patty was the first to recover herself, as unclipped the pennon her tabletop menu and started going through it. She ticked her orders and after she was done, she handed over the tabletop to the waiter. And Leslie also did the same.
After collecting their orders, the waiter gave a polite nod and left.
Immediately after the waiter had left, Leslie turned to James and glared at him.
James saw this and smiled, but he didn't say anything He will have more than enough time to do that later. What he wants to do now is to focus on the moment and enjoy it.
James looked at Patty and Leslie, and from their eyes, he saw how the curiosity eating them deeply from within, causing him to sigh internally.
"The both of you can go ahead and ask your questions," he said.
The two ladies looked at him and the first to speak was Patty.
"I'm just curious about this place. I also have questions about the project you're working on with Ralph but I understand that some business are best kept private, so, I'm not going ask about it. I know and I'm confident, and trust that you're not doing anything illegal, and I also know that you will tell me if you want to," she said, and continued.
"I just want you to know that I love you and that your parents loves you. And that we are very proud of you," she said, with a smile on her face, as she squeezed James' hand lightly.
Leslie didn't say anything, but the proud smile on her face said it all. She was very proud of him and very happy.
James smiled and squeezed Patty's hand lovingly. He stretched out an open palm to Leslie and she placed her hand on it, and he squeezed it lovingly.
"Like I said before, the both of you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. No matter the amount of money I have and whoever I become in the future, the both of you will always be the first in my heart.
And I will make do on my promise to become the man of the house. I will provide and protect the both of you. That I promise,"James said with a sweet smile, causing Patty and Leslie to iggle lightly.
The sweet, warm and fluttering atmosphere around James' table was felt by the other guests in the restaurant. Some of them smiled when they saw the young man seated with two beautiful women.
They would had thought that there was something going on between them and the two ladies were the young man's lover, if the atmosphere between them wasn't giving off the happy family vibe.
But the guests quickly went to their meal and discussions, and no longer paying attention to the three.
The waiter arrived shortly with James', Patty's and Leslie's order, pushing a small food cart towards. He arrived at their table and took the plates from the cart, and set it on the table.
After he was done, he politely smiled and nodded at them, and turned to leave.
With their meal set on the table, the three of them smiled and started eating.
