World Domination Begins With Getting a System in a Modern World-Chapter 68: Housewarming Party
Chapter 68: Housewarming Party
As the deep, rumbling purr of the Koenigsegg Gemera settled into a smooth idle, Ralph practically stumbled out of the passenger seat, still in disbelief.
His hand gripped the side of the car for support as he turned to James, his mouth slightly agape.
"Wow! Bro, what the fuck?!" Ralph exclaimed, his voice filled with both shock and exhilaration.
James smirked as he stepped out, stretching his arms lazily.
"What do you mean?" he asked, his tone lighthearted yet curious.
Ralph stared at him as if he had just committed blasphemy. His face contorted into an expression of disbelief and frustration.
"What do you mean by ’what do you mean’?!" Ralph shot back. "Bro, we just passed by Elon’s place. The Elon Musk’s house. And you’re this calm?! How?! Why?!"
James chuckled, shaking his head as he closed the car door. He could see the sheer excitement and disbelief in Ralph’s eyes, but for him? It was just another drive.
How could he possibly explain to Ralph that he had a system — one that could make him richer than the richest people alive? A system that can make him richer than the richest families and biggest companies in the world.
How can he tell Ralph that he wasn’t just living among billionaires by chance, but because he was slowly surpassing them?
He naturally couldn’t.
"Fuuu..." Ralph exhaled deeply, rubbing his face before shaking his head.
"Man, I swear. You’re hiding way too much shit from me. But fine. Keep your secrets."
James smirked as he gave Ralph a light slap on the back.
"Maybe one day, I’ll tell you. When the time is right." He said, before walking towards the mansion.
Ralph rolled his eyes but followed behind him, still grinning.
"Man, whatever. But seriously, Elon’s house?! That’s crazy."
With that, the two of them walked toward the mansion. But the moment they stepped inside, they froze in their tracks.
The living area was filled with girls.
And not just any girls — Leslie’s friends.
James and Ralph turned to look at each other, their expressions mirroring the same thought.
"Wow! What the fuck?! Girls."
Then, as if on cue, a chorus of high-pitched squeals erupted from the living area.
"OMG! Leslie! James has become even hotter!" one of the girls screamed excitedly as she leaped up from her seat.
James barely had time to react before she rushed toward him, her arms open wide, clearly intending to throw herself onto him.
But just before she could make contact, she suddenly stopped dead in her tracks.
Her eyes went wide. Her body stiffened. And then, ever so slowly, she turned her head back.
Her breath hitched when she saw it.
A ferocious beast in the form of Natasha, standing just a few feet away in front of the kitchen — arms crossed, cold, piercing eyes staring directly into her soul.
The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees.
The girl gulped, her face suddenly losing color as she reconsidered her next action multiple times.
Instead of hugging James, she quickly smiled nervously and opted for a simple handshake.
"U-Uh... James! Haha... It’s been a while!" she stammered, shaking his hand awkwardly before immediately retreating to the couch.
The moment she sat down, she sighed in absolute relief as she turned to her friend, Thalia.
"Thalia, I completely forgot how possessive of James, Natasha is." she whispered, her hands trembling slightly.
"I nearly lost my life right there. Who knows what she would’ve done to me if I had actually gone ahead and hugged him?"
Thalia covered her mouth to suppress her laughter, whispering back, "Yeah, you must’ve had a death wish."
James, of course, had no idea what had just transpired. And neither did Ralph.
They were completely oblivious to the subtle but dangerous battlefield of silent glares and unspoken warnings.
James simply greeted the rest of Leslie’s friends with a polite nod and took a seat on the plush leather sofa. The girls greeted him back, but none dared to step out of line anymore.
Ralph, however, received a completely different treatment.
When he greeted the girls, they responded with bright smiles and giggles, far more enthusiastic than when they greeted James.
Of course, neither James nor Ralph noticed the difference — they were too preoccupied with their own thoughts.
As James settled in, waiting for the meal to be ready, his gaze casually drifted toward Leslie’s four closest friends.
Sitting directly across from him were the identical twins, Natalia and Natalie.
Even after all these years, he still struggled to tell them apart.
Then, there was Natasha, of course. And lastly, the girl who nearly lost her life a few minutes ago — Selena.
James had known them since middle school and had a close friendship with all of them. But for some reason, the atmosphere today felt a little... different.
As he pondered this, Patty’s voice called out from the kitchen.
"Alright, everyone! The food’s ready! Come take your seats!"
The room instantly came alive as everyone moved toward the dining area, excitement bubbling in the air.
The large dining table was beautifully set, covered in an array of dishes that looked as good as they smelled.
James took his seat at the center of the table, with Patty to his right and Natasha to his left. Leslie sat beside Patty, while the rest of her friends filled the remaining seats randomly.
The girls, except Patty, saw Natasha seated beside James and smiled. They knew what she was doing but they chose not to say anything, and this was the same as Leslie.
As everyone settled in, Patty gave a warm smile, raising her glass of orange juice.
"To new beginnings, to our new home, and to the family we’ve built along the way. Cheers!"
Everyone raised their glasses, clinking them together with smiles.
And then, the feast began.
The sound of laughter, lighthearted conversation, and the occasional playful bickering filled the air as they ate.
James couldn’t help but smile as he looked around the table.
The past week had been a whirlwind. Wealth, power, a new home, a new future. And yet, right now, none of that mattered.
This moment — this feeling of home—was what truly mattered. This is the reason why he’s doing everything he’s doing and will continue to do so.
