Chapter 240: Living Armor

Meanwhile inside the carriage, Brelgor body were still recovering. “Prince, the velmorian slave is taken away.”

“That’s not my problem, it’s your prize, If you cannot protect it, that mean you don’t deserve it.” The prince said with a chuckle, completely disinterested with the fight happening outside. He hold a silver glass filled with wine.

‘This dammed prince. If he allow the velmora to stay inside the carriage we will not have this problrm.’ Brelgor cursed in his mind.

If he’s in normal state he would probably pursue them, but now? There’s no way he can do that. He have barely any strength left.

“But Prince, do you have any idea who ambush us?”

“Who knows I have a lot of enemy, it’s not the first nor the last, Only if he can beat those two outside he deserve my interest.”

Brelgor doesn’t say any word further focusing on the fight outside.

The Royal Guards rose again, this time different. Their armor flared with deep red light, runes along their bodies igniting like circuits.

The damage they’d sustained, dents, cracks, scorched plating, melted away, the armor reshaping itself with unnatural speed, like liquid metal.

Ben’s smirked. “Finally using your living armor..

He threw a punch toward the glaive-wielder’s chest.

BAM!!!

A shockwave of force repelled him mid-strike, knocking him back three meters.

Ben’s boots dug into the stone, eyes narrowing. The moment his punch connect, it’s clear for him, that was a repulsion field.

The glaive-wielder stepped forward, red sigils burning on his gauntlets. Around him, the air shimmered, as if space itself were bending.

“A kinetic shield?” Ben muttered. “No… something more.”

He charged again, fists glowing, and swung wide.

BAM!!

His punch connected, then immediately slid off as if struck by a sloped wall of energy. The force rebounded, creating a shockwave.

The glaive-guard moved like a juggernaut now. Every step crushed the stone beneath him. His glaive pulsed with a vortex-like aura. Then, he vanished.

Ben blinked, only to feel a crushing blow slam into his side.

BOOM!!

He was launched into a fungal tree, smashing through it and into the ravine wall beyond. The glaive-wielder had warped space to blink across short distances, an ability from his living armor.

Ben coughed once. “Alright, you’re not just meat shields anymore.”

Then the twin-blade guard stepped forward. His armor moved in a different way, faster, with thinner, lightning-shaped runes that cracked across his plating.

Ben dashed forward.

CRACK!

His blow landed, but this time, his arm phased right through.

The blade-wielder’s image shimmered, leaving behind an afterimage, then reappeared behind Ben in a flash of red lightning.

SLASH!

A searing arc traced across Ben’s ribs before he twisted out of reach.

Blood sprayed, sizzling on the stones.

Ben’s eyes gleamed.

“Speed warping… a distortion type armor?”

The twin-blade guard moved in bursts, blinking, his body constantly flickering. He moved faster than most eyes could track, slashing and vanishing in staccato bursts, leaving energy trail behind him.

‘Is this like those ravager? But his movement seem different.’

Ben ducked, deflected, countered, but it was like trying to fight a ghost made of lightning.

And all the while, the glaive-wielder was circling, the battlefield warping subtly around him, pulling debris inward, twisting air currents. His glaive now moved like a black hole on a stick, its strikes dragging space with them.

Ben was outnumbered, but h still grinned. Different with them Ben barely use his power.

“Interesting. Very interesting.”

He smashed his fists together. Dark Aether surged through his body.

“Let’s see how you handle this.”

From where he stood, he thrrow a punch. Suddenly a shockwave exploded at the same time with the shield’s distortion pulse, slipping through the repulsion field and striking the guard square in the chest.

BOOM!!!

The armor cracked again, but instead of breaking, it redirected the kinetic force into the glaive, sending it spinning into the air. The guard caught it with a twirl mid-air and struck back, his counter amplified by Ben’s own force.

Ben blocked with crossed arms, his boots skidding a dozen meters from the hit. ‘Interesting, seem it have more understanding on space than me. But I’m still stronger.’

The twin-blade guard appeared behind him again, except this time Ben was ready. He swung backward, just as the man flickered in, and connected with a solid uppercut.

The blow struck, only to phase again. But Ben had feinted. He spun mid-air and delivered a crushing heel drop into the guard’s spine as he rematerialized, forcing him to stay solid.

CRRAAAKKK!!!

The armor at the back split, and the man fell forward, coughing blood.

Ben turned just in time as the glaive came again, but this time, instead of blocking, he sidestepped inside the gravity pull, twisted into the strike’s blind spot, and slammed both palms into the glaive-wielder’s ribs.

BAM!!!

The impact bent the man sideways, red energy bursting from his armor like a ruptured battery. The kinetic field failed, just long enough for Ben to grab his head and hurl him into a cliff wall, cracking it open like a bell.

Both guards were down. But they were still moving, their armor begin regenerating.

Ben eyes narrowed, he was grinning, fighting both of them is a rare change for him, as he can learn how they use space something similar with apophis gravity authority.

“Now… how long can that armor of yours last?”

The two Royal Guards stood up, Their armor pulsed again. The runes across their plating flared to life, burning gold and crimson. Red lightning arced between the cracks, while tendrils of energy curled upward like steam rising from lava.

Ben narrowed his eyes.

“What’s this now…?”

The glaive-wielder’s chest opened slightly, revealing a blazing core, a miniature sun throbbing at the center of his chest cavity. The armor surrounding it shifted and reshaped itself, forming new ridges, plating, and additional joint guards. He grew larger and the air around him warped violently, like gravity itself was cracking.

A gravitational aura spread out in pulses, drawing nearby rocks into orbit around his body. His glaive, now reforged by the energy, had a burning red arc where the blade once was, a pure edge of compressed pressure and heat.

Ben muttered under his breath, ‘ So space and gravity is really connected.’

Based on his observation so far the royal guard living armor ability is manipulating space, but somehow now he use it to manipulate gravity. Unfortunately it’s a bad match against Ben.

The twin-blade guard roared, his armor split and flared outward like wings of shattered crystal. The runes etched into his flesh. His entire form blurred, moving faster than light, leaving behind four afterimages..

The real one vanished. The phantoms came from all directions.

SLASH!!! SLASH!!! SLASH!!! SLASH!!!

A dozen cuts opened across Ben’s arms and ribs, each one burning with static distortion, interfering with his regeneration.

The glaive-wielder charged next, dragging the ground behind him. The pull of his gravitational field distorted even Ben’s stance, dragging his limbs ever so slightly off balance.

BOOM!!

The glaive came down like a meteor. Ben crossed his arms and blocked.

The shockwave flattened trees across the ridge. He skidded backward, coughing blood, but laughing. “So this is your real power.”

He clenched his fists.

“Fine, time to use more power.”

Ben slammed his hands together, dark aether igniting around him. ” Let’s try this.”

His figure and surrounding distorted, He vanished, The afterimage left behind evaporated in a shockwave.

Ben reappeared inside the glaive-wielder’s gravitational field, and struck with a singularity punch to the core.

CRACK!!!

The armor imploded. The glaive-wielder roared, his core flaring, but the punch drove straight through the gravity barrier.

The core sputtered, and detonated in a compressed shock-blast that launched the guard into the sky like a ragdoll before he crashed into pieces, barely any remain left.

Ben didn’t stop. The twin-blade reappeared, flickering behind him with all four phantoms converging.

Ben reached out with both arms, and caught all four at once.

For one split second, he grinned. Then twisted. The real one screamed as Ben hurled him upward, then jumped after him, fists blazing with light.

Above them, silhouetted against the moon, Ben unleashed a final combo, eight strikes in one second.

Fist. Elbow. Palm. Knee. Kick. Backfist. Uppercut. Meteor Drop.

The final blow sent the twin-blade crashing into the earth with such force, it left a crater a hundred meters wide.

He than pointed toward the carriage, “let’s see…”

Dark aether gathered on the tip of his finger, the space around it start to distorty. Than with a flick the bullet shoot creating implosion.

BOOM!!!

The dark aether implode covering the whole area, while distorting the space around it. Ben gaze than turned sideway as the left over armor of the royal guard start moving.

“As expected of nephirid, even their royal guard cannot easily killed.”

Just like the ashborn Warrior, the royal guard will survive as long part of their armor survive.

“Amazing, been a while since I meet someone at your level, just who send you.” A voice come from the shattered carriage.
