With his free hand, he wrenched his pickaxe up— And drove it straight into the beast’s leftmost eye.

"GROOOARRRR!!!" The Ravager screeched, body convulsing in agony. Ben didn’t stop. His grip tightened. With a wrenching motion, he dragged the blade sideways, tearing straight through the second—then the third eye.

SPLURCH!

Dark blood splattered across the battlefield, the creature’s shrieks turning into a gurgling roar. Its struggles weakened. Ben forced the maw wider— And with one final snap It devoured the Ravager whole.

Ben’s eyes flickered over the notification. ’Brute Ravager?’ His jaw tightened. This wasn’t the Alpha.

His gaze moved, scanning the battlefield. But before he could pinpoint the real alpha. The Ravagers formation already broke apart. The moment the Brute Ravager consumed, the rest of the pack scattered. They turned and ran, retreating into the dark like Big muscular man fleeing a cockroach.

Ben’s expression twisted with rage. "You think I’ll just let you escape—after destroying my house!?" His voice boomed through the battlefield, his fury bleeding into the hive mind. "Hunt them down! Kill as many as you can! Scouts—cripple their legs! I want them crawling!"

The Krell moved instantly. The chase began. A Ravager tried to flee—

Swoosh!

An arrow pierced straight through its knee joint. It collapsed, screeching A Krell Soldier descended on it immediately, driving its spear into the exposed throat. Another leapt toward the walls, scrambling up the rubble.

Ben was already moving. His hand morphed again, the maw splitting open—"Consume!." The gaping mouth clamped down, devouring the Ravager whole in one violent crunch.

[ Ravager consumed. Acquired 45 biomass.]

He didn’t stop. A Ravager zigzagged through the battlefield, trying to break free, but they weren’t fast enough. Ben was too quick, he transformed his leg into form he used to escaped from the Lava. The Bettle leg. Ben moved in a blur, appearing right in front of it. The beast skidded to a halt, its eyes widening. Ben grinned. His pickaxe buried itself deep into its skull before it could even react. "Consume!"

[ Ravager consumed. Acquired 51 biomass.]

The Ravager didn’t even have time to scream before it was erased from existence. Another one tried to bolt through the outer wall A Krell Soldier snatched its tail mid-air, swinging it like a hammer into the ground.

CRACK!

The ground split from the impact. The Ravager twitched, dazed. Ben walked up slowly. His hand stretched out, fingers warping into a sharp teeth—The Ravager could only shriek as the mouth swallowed it whole.

[ Ravager consumed. Acquired 42 biomass.]

Another Ravager charged, slamming a Krell into a crumbling wall. Ben grabbed its tail mid-motion—

And swung. The massive creature whipped through the air like a ragdoll, crashing into the ground hard enough to send up a cloud of dust. It roared, disoriented."Consume!"

Ben grinned, blood pumping. Seeing all the new body part excite him "More!"

And just like that—it was over. Ben stood in the middle of the carnage, unfazed. Despite the intensity of the battle, he barely felt winded. His stamina still held strong, his energy far from drained. The Ravagers had been relentless—but they were never a real threat. Not to him.

But the Alpha… That nagged at him. ’Where the hell is it? His gaze swept across the battlefield. Nothing. Not a trace. ’Can it command from further away? It didn’t make sense. If the Alpha could control them from a distance, why take the risk of joining the fight earlier?’

Ben exhaled, rolling his shoulders. "Whatever." He turned, eyes landing on the ruined remains of his stronghold.

Ben clicked his tongue. ’I’ll figure out their command structure later. For now, I need to rebuild.’ Because one thing was certain—the Alpha would return. And next time, it would be even stronger.

There were already Brutes. That meant there were probably more of them—maybe even stronger variations. And in a world filled with mana, it wouldn’t surprise him if some had elemental abilities.

Ben exhaled sharply as he calculated the losses. The battle had cost him 12 Krell Soldiers and 9 Krell Scouts. As for the enemy—128 Ravagers lay dead. Most of them had been wiped out by the traps. Each explosive talisman had carved through their ranks like a blade through rotten flesh, tearing apart clusters of them in an instant. "Start clearing the battlefield," he ordered.

The remaining Krell moved swiftly, dragging corpses and building remain toward the trash zone. Despite everything, Ben still needed a waste pit outside the base. His eyes swept over the ruins of his stronghold. Walls shattered, ground cratered, defenses barely standing. This wasn’t going to work. One wall wasn’t enough. If the Ravagers returned in even greater numbers, they’d tear through the structure like before.

He needed an outer defense, another ring of fortifications to keep enemies at bay before they even reached the main structure. But to do that, he had to clear the mushroom trees. His gaze flicked toward the dense fungal growth surrounding the base, estimating the time and effort it would take to remove them.

And just like that, more tasks piled up in his mind. Fixing the base, filling in the craters, laying down new tiling, planning out better traps—something cheaper than explosive talismans. Sorting through the battlefield waste to salvage anything useful. Studying the purple mushrooms to see if they could be cultivated inside the stronghold. Designing new Krell using the Ravager traits. Digging through the information from the creatures he consumed. The list kept growing, the sheer number of things to do pressing down on him like a weight.
