World's Last Hope-Chapter 74: More Upgrades
Still lying on the cold floor, finally getting the rest he had needed for a long time now, he heard the system announcement echoing in his mind as several windows appeared in front of him.
[Cathedral liberated.]
[2000 soul essence acquired.]
[Connection with the god of Underworld increased.]
[20 soul points acquired.]
[The god of Underworld, despite being severely weakened, has awoken, granting you access to his miracles.]
He couldn’t help but smile as he saw the news.
’Finally, I will be able to access more miracles!’ he thought in excitement as he made the shop appear in front of him.
This time, unlike last time, there were three miracles that he could potentially buy.
He glanced at the first one.
-----
[All Seeing Eye]
Desperation: The one that could see it all would wish he couldn’t in the long run.
Positives:
Just by sight, you are able to accurately guess an entity’s strength.
The thing that was beautiful before would become even more mesmerizing when it falls under your gaze.
You are able to see better in the dark.
Negatives:
How could a miracle from God have a downside?
-----
’This miracle would be really useful in the future. The ability to give me better sight in the dark is a huge bonus, but also a way for me to actually guess an individual’s strength? This will be very useful, as it will help me see not only which are the strong monsters but also which humans could potentially be hiding their strength.’
He grinned a little as he shifted his gaze to the price.
[Price: 20 Soul Points]
He had exactly this many soul points, so he would be able to afford it if he wished to.
But not wanting to rush, he glanced at the other two miracles available.
-----
[Faster Than a Lightning]
Desperation: A bow capable of shooting out deadly arrows.
Positives:
A weapon unable to be crafted by any mortal man.
As long as the individual is conscious, they can keep firing arrows forever.
Negatives:
How could a miracle from God have a downside?
-----
’This sounds like one of the weapons Olivia possesses,’ he thought as he glanced at the price.
[Price: 80 Soul Points]
Sadly, he couldn’t afford the bow, so it seemed it would have to wait.
Not wasting time, he shifted his gaze to the last miracle.
-----
[Silent]
Desperation: Only beings with the highest perceptions would be able to sense you.
Positives:
You can hide your presence at will, making you much harder to notice.
Negatives:
How could a miracle from God have a downside?
-----
"This would have been so useful if I had gotten it before having to hide in the cursed forest!" he muttered as he massaged his forehead in frustration.
"No matter, I can’t afford it anyway," he spoke as he glanced at the price.
[Price: 40 Soul Points]
He had only 20 soul points, so he was only able to afford the ’All Seeing Eye.’ Without a second thought, he bought the miracle.
He opened his status to see his progress.

He couldn’t help but smile as he now had four miracles at his disposal.
With time, he was going to get even stronger as he liberated more cathedrals.
Now, after he was done checking his rewards, he took a deep breath as he glanced at Aria and Olivia.
He gasped—not only was he looking at the gorgeous women, but due to the miracle ’All Seeing Eye,’ they had become even somehow more breathtaking.
Not only that, but he was now able to accurately guess their strength thanks to the miracle, and honestly, looking at them left him stunned.
Both of them were now Grandmasters, and their presence was shining like the sun. Just by looking at them, he could tell how vast the difference in strength was between them and him.
Shaking his head and getting rid of unnecessary thoughts, he walked towards them.
It was time they discussed some things.

"So, what you’re saying is that after you entered the cathedral in your memory that you were currently in, it somehow completely cleansed it?" Aria asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, it seemed that if you managed to enter the cathedral that you were currently cleansing again, inside the memory, the corruption would be instantly destroyed," Olivia replied.
"But if that was so easy, why did the corruption show you a memory where you were so close to the cathedral if it knew that once you entered, it would kill it instantly?" Aria countered.
In response, Olivia pointed at Eric. "Because of him. Originally, in the memory, I still had to fight the manifestation of the corruption if I wanted to proceed, but it seems that the corruption didn’t account for Eric being there."
She took a deep breath before explaining further.
"Once the manifestation of the corruption’s gaze fell upon Eric and his shining light, it screamed in fear. Seeing that, Eric dashed towards it like some kind of maniac, distracting it while I was free to enter the cathedral."
Eric let out a sigh of relief. ’It seemed that I wasn’t so useless after all,’ he thought inwardly.
Aria let out a weak laugh. "Now I feel dumb for cleansing it the wrong way."
Olivia poked Aria’s head before she replied, "It’s not like we knew about this anyway. Not only that, but in my case, it seemed that if I didn’t try some other risky method, I would’ve been stuck with more than tens of thousands of those memories."
"So don’t blame yourself. In a way, I was the one who used the wrong method, not you," Olivia added.
Aria sighed, as she knew Olivia was right.
Eric, cracking his neck, spoke, "You know, there are a lot of mysteries, but one thing is for certain, our mission is done... so let’s go back to the city, alright?"
The two girls shifted their gazes at him and smiled.
They were finally going back.
