Chapter 106: Chapter 105 The Most Beloved Bird

On Christmas Eve, many writers were pleasantly surprised to receive financial relief of 220 US dollars, then loudly praised the website for the aid.

Meanwhile, on the set of "Prison Break," funded by the same website, inside the studio.

Director Catherine was nursing a headache as she watched yet another crazed fan being escorted out by security.

"Miller, I love you, we will always support you."

The girl tried to break free from the security’s grip, shouting loudly all the while.

It seemed impossible to continue shooting the scene.

Catherine snapped her fingers and gestured to the assistant director.

"Where are the people from production? Tell that Tom to communicate with the studio’s management and tighten security on set."

"Well..." the assistant director looked at the female director, who had begun to wield considerable authority due to the TV show’s popularity, and said, "That Tom hasn’t been here for the past few days."

"I’ll go talk to them myself."

Catherine nodded silently, complaining to herself that the so-called two producers were rarely seen.

And now, even the only senior manager from the production side stopped showing up.

"Miller, go out and talk to the fans," Catherine instructed the most popular male lead.

"Uh..." Miller looked troubled but didn’t dare refuse.

He walked hesitantly, looking back every three steps, his mind flooded with experiences from the recent past.

From anonymity to emerging fame.

Now the crew was receiving heaps of fan mail from all over America every day.

These fans were simply too insane!

If he just walked out there, wouldn’t he be swarmed by those women?

God be my witness, I’m gay!

At that moment, he suddenly saw Tom from production arriving at the studio, heading straight for the director.

And behind him were two crew members carrying large boxes.

The production people were here?

Did this mean he didn’t have to face that terrifying crowd of fans?

Miller immediately stopped in his tracks and began to pray silently.

A moment later, he saw Tom finish communicating with the director.

Tom, while on the phone with the studio’s management, directed his subordinates to move the large boxes into the producer’s office.

Director Catherine just shook her head speechlessly, no longer staring intently at him.

Miller breathed a sigh of relief, wishing he could become invisible and quietly blended back into the crowd of actors.

"Wow, Miller, you are really Red now!" lead actress Naomi exclaimed, "To have so many fans!"

"Aren’t you doing well too? Do you have any new film offers?"

Naomi nodded and then shook her head with a complex expression, "All the new offers are for TV shows, no movies at all."

"It’s really difficult for TV actors to break into films," Miller said with feeling and nodded, "But it’s still much better than before, right?"

"Of course," Naomi’s face brightened with a brilliant smile, "In Los Angeles, I was almost on the streets. Who would have thought I’d need to wear sunglasses when going out now?"

"I still get recognized, even with sunglasses on," Miller said, shrugging in resignation.

"The four main actors, come here to retake individual photos," the photographer called out.

Were they reshooting promotional posters?

Naomi and Miller exchanged a puzzled glance.

Soon, the photo shoot was over.

The four main actors were then called into the producer’s office.

Tom from production, holding a contract, said to the four, "According to the contract’s requirements, you all have an obligation to cooperate with the crew’s promotion, right?"

Miller and the other three all nodded their heads.

Then, they heard the other party laugh and say, "So, do you all know how to use computers?"

Computers?

What does that have to do with promotion?

"I guess a little bit." Miller was completely puzzled.

Tom stood up, walked over to Miller and said, "In this play, you should be the most popular, right?"

He wouldn’t want to use himself to stir up scandals with some celebrities, would he?

A slight shadow crossed Miller’s mind.

But he immediately remembered the repeated admonitions of his agent: one could offend fellow actors, one could offend directors, but never, ever offend the producer!

So, Miller could only helplessly nod his head.

"Then let’s start with you."

Tom pointed to the computer screen, "You register an account here."

Miller looked at the other person with confusion, then turned his head to look at the computer.

"What is this?"

"A new promotion strategy." Tom directed his subordinates to teach the actors.

Following the instructions, Miller first registered an account.

Then, he saw a rudimentary webpage appear in front of him.

"Is this... a personal website?" He looked up at Tom with confusion.

"Something like that." Tom nodded, "But it’s verified by us, which can prove your real identity."

"Of course, all the data will be stored on our website’s server." Tom pointed to the screen.

"And this website will be hyperlinked with the character cards from ’Prison Break’ on wangwen.com."

"When readers or fans see either side, they can easily jump to the other."

"Right." Tom continued, "Your first post should probably persuade your fans to be a little more rational and not to go attacking any magazines."

Attack, magazines?

I’m barely a minor celebrity now; how could I offend a magazine as a media outlet?

This really gave Miller a fright.

He hurriedly followed the staff’s guidance to send out a message calling for his fans to be calm.

Soon after, someone commented under his message: Are you really Miller? If you’re an impersonator, may God bless you to go straight to Hell!

What the heck?

Miller was just about to defend himself when the crew’s photographer walked in.

"All the main cast’s photos are edited; when should we upload them?"

"Now’s good." Tom clapped his hands and pointed to the newly installed scanner.

After the staff operated it, Miller saw the photos he just took appear on the website.

"Wow, it really is Miller! He looks so handsome in the crew too!"

"The female lead can drop dead, Miller belongs to me!"

While he was still surprised, he suddenly heard a meaningless hum from Naomi beside him.

"Alright, you guys keep going with this process." Tom glanced at the computer and then left the office.

The main cast members left in the office exchanged glances, suddenly feeling...

This was actually kind of fun.

Back in the website office, Wang Jian watched as Dorsey led a bunch of technicians, constantly tweaking and adjusting.

"So this sub-website, we’re still registering a separate domain name for it. What do you plan to call it?"

"From the way the two sites are linked to each other, like a bird," Dorsey thought for a moment and said, "Let’s call it ’twitter’, which is also my favorite name for a bird."
