Yellow Court Daoist-Chapter 763 - 684: Black Wind Mountain!
Enshrouded by a dense miasma of black, demonic clouds, the vast expanse laid out before them.
A land encircled by mountains on three sides loomed majestically, stretching for thousands of miles.
Adjacent to the mountains, a desolate wasteland unfolded, a dismal region of treacherous peaks and putrid marshes. The ancient woods that crowned the hills were a deep, dark green, almost sinister in their shade. Howling winds roared through the trees like the wails of malevolent spirits, sending chills down the spine of any who heard.
But there, amidst the towering range...
To the left, poisonous clouds and miasma rose; to the right, venomous vermin crept and crawled. The heart of the mountain housed numerous deep ravines, through which streams gurgled in the shadows. Caves and grotesque stones proliferated, and several vast swamps of mud bubbled ominously over tens of miles, their decomposing vegetation and mire emanating a fermenting stench that would rightfully turn stomachs.
Yet, beside one of these deep, mucky pools, a lone green bamboo thrived.
Beneath the bamboo, within the heart of the murky depths, a carp swam to and fro.
Occasionally, the carp would surface to expel bubbles, enveloping the green bamboo and keeping the noxious vapors at bay. The swaying bamboo shed its leaves into the water, purifying the pool and repelling the toxic creatures that dwelled within.
It may have been a year.
Perhaps even ten.
Thunder roared!
The skies churned, and the earth below turned into an aquatic dragon dance.
The heavens unleashed a relentless barrage of Great Heavenly Tribulations, one after another, giving rise to flashes of pure light and bursts of white radiance, vaguely revealing the transformation of the green bamboo and the carp becoming a dragon.
The rustling of leaves and the deep roar of the clouds echoed through the air.
The Heavenly Tribulation rained down for nine days and nine nights before finally abating.
Where the green bamboo once stood...
The terrible peaks and marshes within its vicinity had seemed to be overturned by some colossal spade, shaved down by tens of fathoms, carving out a new pool. The wretched water churned as swarms of vile creatures teemed within.
There, a pair of figures walked across the waves and settled on the flat ledges of the mountain.
"What a marvel, this Earth Immortal World."
"To think that I, once banished to the form of a carp, would reclaim my status as an Earth Immortal in just a mere century!"
Ao Le, having shed her carp form and transformed back into a dragon, then resumed her human shape, looked at her own cultivation progress with shock.
A mere century.
From a mortal carp to an Earth Immortal and a True Dragon - such limits spanned in the Immortal Qin Realm would normally take tens of thousands of years!
"No wonder my husband always spoke of the Earth Immortal World as a sanctum for cultivation."
Ao Le turned her gaze toward Lu Qingfeng.
His face, too, held a trace of surprise.
"This is not right!"
Indeed, Lu Qingfeng's astonishment exceeded even Ao Le's.
He had spent many years cultivating in the Earth Immortal World, a realm where he had been reborn after dying in the Immortal Qin Realm. He had grown into the Qingjing Method Bamboo, taking root in places like Black Wind Mountain, Small Spirit Mountain, and Yellow Wind Ridge.
From a sprouting bamboo shoot, it took him a staggering 16,000 years to become a True Immortal.
But this time around, merely a century had passed in his dreamlike cultivation journey.
So swift.
Truly peculiar.
"Perhaps it's because I was already an Earth Immortal in truth?"
"Or could it be that the Earth Immortal World has changed since ancient times?"
"Or is there something wrong with my Divine Skills?!"
Lu Qingfeng was uncertain, so instead of delving further, he said to Ao Le, "Let's look around first."
Scanning the surroundings, they saw many valleys thick with demonic chi that remained undispersed, rising upwards. As the wind blew, a foul, fishy odor filled the air. Not a soul was visible for hundreds of miles ahead, just vast desolation. Clearly, these were the territories of fierce and violent demons.
Not a place of good fortune.
"Blind as a bat here."
"We must seek someone out for enlightenment."
"Earth Spirit."
"Mountain God."
"Make your presence known at once!"
With thoughts in motion, Lu Qingfeng manipulated his Spiritual Technique, muttered an incantation, and lightly stamped his foot on the ground.
"Your servant has come before the two great Immortals!"
A puff of Qing Yan smoke arose where Lu Qingfeng had stamped his foot.
And with it appeared two figures: an old man with a full white beard, his thin frame clad in colorful longevity clothing, leaning on a bamboo cane, followed by a ghastly Evil Ghost of considerable stature, wielding a steel fork, with a blue face and sharp fangs.
They were the Earth Spirit and Mountain God of this region.
The commotion caused by Lu Qingfeng and Ao Le undergoing the Great Heavenly Tribulation and undergoing their transformations had surely not gone unnoticed by these local deities.
Though they were gods of the Yin Department and their Dao ability was not lacking, capable of rivaling regular True Immortals, they were still inferior to true Immortals.
And as deities in this barren land plagued by the convergence of Demon Kings, their experiences and insights were unparalleled.
How could they dare to defy?
They acted with utmost respect.
"Good to know they understand their place."
Lu Qingfeng was taken aback then chuckled.
He had half expected these local gods to wield their status arrogantly and look down upon him, a Loose Cultivator. In the Earth Immortal World, he was known as the 'Capturing God General,' a rank far more prestigious than any ordinary Mountain God or Earth Spirit.
But the officials of later times could not command these ancient minor deities.
Yet since these two deities were so cooperative, it saved him the trouble of talking more.
"Which territory is this, and what Demon Kings might be nearby?" Lu Qingfeng inquired.
The Earth Spirit old man and Evil Ghost Mountain God exchanged glances before the Earth Spirit replied, "Respected Immortal, we are at the border between the Nan Zhanbu Continent and the Western Continent, hence called 'Two Realms Mountain.' The Two Realms Mountain is vast, comprising over three thousand seven hundred large mountains, inhabited by innumerable Demon Kings. This particular place falls within the realm of Black Wind Mountain, which is but one of these over three thousand seven hundred peaks. Within its Nine Caves and Ten Streams, formidable Demon Kings reside with their legions, best not toyed with."
"Oh?"
"This is Black Wind Mountain?"
Lu Qingfeng looked around, scanning the bleak mountains and wicked waters, struggling to find any semblance of the vibrant scenes infused with Immortal Energy and rich with Immortal Spirit Qi that he once witnessed while growing within Black Wind Mountain.
Revisiting old haunts.
It's no wonder he didn't recognize it at a glance.
"It is said that Black Wind Mountain was originally nothing more than a desolate and dangerous place until the arrival of the Heavenly Daoist Sect Master, who hollowed out the mountain, set up an Array inside, and gathered nature's spiritual energy and the essence of the five elements. Only then did Black Wind Mountain become a favorable place for cultivation."
Reminded of the origin of Black Wind Mountain, Lu Qingfeng's eyes suddenly brightened: "I don't know how many years are left until the onset of the slaughter. If I could apprentice under the Heavenly Daoist Sect Master and receive the 'Heavenly Dao Twelve Volumes', it would be perfect."
He thought to himself.
Calculating with his fingers.
Yet he saw the Heavenly Mechanism was chaotic and with his Great Divine Power 'Seven Beasts Small Divine Number', he could not peer into it even slightly.
"Great!"
"It seems that the timing is just right!"
Lu Qingfeng did not panic but was pleased instead.
The Heavenly Mechanism's obscurity like this must mean the slaughter is imminent. And since Black Wind Mountain has not yet been developed, it is evident that the Heavenly Daoist Sect Master will soon arrive.
With a thought,
Lu Qingfeng ventured, "Emperor Gouchen commands the Demon Clan of the Three Realms, no matter how fierce the Demon King here is, surely he wouldn't dare to harm people without cause, right?"
"Just a fledgling Immortal."
"So short-sighted!"
The Mountain God, like an evil ghost when hearing this, scoffed in his heart but did not show it on his face, only answered, "After Emperor Gouchen fell while subduing demons, the position of Emperor remains vacant to this day. That's why these Demon Kings are out of control and turn brutally vicious!"
Lu Qingfeng nodded upon hearing this.
He had an idea.
To his knowledge, before the Heavenly Daoist Sect Master had achieved his Dao and first arrived in the Earth Immortal World from the mortal realm, he had fought with the Great Witch Bai Qi, alarming the Heavenly Court and was appointed 'Emperor Gouchen', decreed throughout the Three Realms. Except for the places that are not under the jurisdiction of Heavenly Court, his appearance and divine form could be known everywhere.
There was no god or spirit in the Three Realms that did not know.
Since this Mountain God mentioned there was no Emperor Gouchen in the sky, clearly, the Heavenly Daoist Sect Master had not yet come to the Earth Immortal World.
"In that case,"
"Why not cultivate here in Black Wind Mountain for the time being. It won't be too long of a wait anyway."
Lu Qingfeng thought to himself.
Before he could speak out.
He saw in all directions there was either a demon wind blowing, black mist enveloping, or black water surging to the sky. A great momentum surged instantly, all coming toward where Lu Qingfeng and Ao Le were standing.
Assessing their momentum,
They were all far from weak, all of them Demon King caliber, among them even the Demon Wind and Demon Cloud presented a force that was a good three parts stronger than Lu Qingfeng.
"It's the Black Wind Mountain Demon King."
"Great Immortal, please forgive us."
The Mountain God and the god of the land were truly cowardly, seeing the Black Wind and Demon Cloud sweeping in, one spun around where he stood and turned into Qing Yan to escape underground. The other, in a fluster, smashed a steel fork into the ground and dived into the crevice, disappearing as well.
"..."
Ao Le was stunned for a moment, intending to ask if these two deities were really gods from the Heavenly Court—
Seeing a Demon King so frightened?!
"Be careful, husband!"
But seeing the commotion from all sides, she dared not delay, and a treasured sword appeared in her hands, shining with golden light.
It was the Emperor's Sword that Lu Qingfeng had snatched from Qin Zhen.
Although lacking the blessings of the billions of subjects of Immortal Qin, it was after all a Fourth-rank Immortal Device, its power considerable.
"Hmm!"
Lu Qingfeng nodded and responded.
He held a green bamboo staff in his hand, his expression also slightly serious.
The next moment.
Thirteen Demon Kings arrived in a grand manner.
Lu Qingfeng gazed out and immediately saw a 'familiar face'.
"Three-tailed Black Fish?"
Lu Qingfeng's gaze fell on one of the leading Demon Kings.
This Demon King was covered in black and covered with scales, looking like he wore a suit of fish-scale armor, appearing quite imposing. With two muscular tendrils spiraling up from the buttocks to the head. On the head, there was no hair, just shiny baldness, with the two tendrils standing erect on top of the head, each half a foot long, fat and chubby like meaty horns. These meaty horns were as thick as a small leg, somewhat round, resembling a human head with a visible face, fearsome in appearance.
Lu Qingfeng recognized at a glance—
Wasn't this the one buried in the 'Divine Tomb'?
"Heavenly Immortal Dao."
"Yet couldn't escape a single death."
Lu Qingfeng murmured to himself, taking a few more glances.
Ao Le at his side was already the Master of the Divine Tomb, and even during the refining of the Divine Tomb, she had contended with the will of this 'Three-tailed Black Fish' Demon King, knowing before its death it was already of the Heavenly Immortal Dao.
Now it seemed a good deal stronger than her husband, Lu Qingfeng.
Their guard went up accordingly.
As the couple's gaze fixated on the Three-tailed Black Fish Demon King, it actually pleased the Demon King, who thought himself incomparably handsome, attracting two newly successful big demons, and he quickly said, "I am the Black Fish Mountain's Guiyun Creek Demon King. Would you two like to join my command?"
"You shameless Three-tails."
Another Demon King saw the Three-tailed Black Fish wanting to recruit these two great demons who had achieved the Immortal Dao and would not let him have his way.
The Three-tailed Black Fish was already a first-class Demon King among the Nine Caves and Ten Streams of Black Wind Mountain. If two more great generals were added to his forces, they were afraid there would be no place for them in this nine-thousand-mile Black Wind Mountain.
Immediately another Demon King stepped forward and announced loudly, "Do not heed the Three-tails, better to come with me to Poison Dragon Cave than be bossed around by this Three-tail in Guiyun Creek. I, Poison Dragon, am willing to become sworn siblings with you two, and henceforth you will be the second and third great kings of my Poison Dragon Cave!"
Black Wind Mountain.
Poison Dragon Cave.
Lu Qingfeng had been focusing his attention on the Three-tailed Black Fish, but upon hearing this, he suddenly turned his head, looking at the one speaking among the thirteen Demon Kings.
He could see that this Demon King was not ugly, wearing a yellow cloak, black tight armor, and tiger-skin boots, with a fierce look on his face. In his hand, he held a Black Light Divine Halberd that seemed somewhat mystical, obviously a treasure that had been diligently refined.
But it was only so mystical, and still seemed crude.
"Poison Dragon?"
"Could he be the same Poison Dragon Venerable that had suppressed the Galaxy Realm?"
Lu Qingfeng's eyes lit up.
