Cold sweat trickled out from under his skin one drop at a time. Shen Mochen wanted to deny it, yet Catherine’s gaze was so clear, as if she could discern lies; instinctively, he stopped himself from doing so.

In the blink of an eye, Shen Mochen had an epiphany; his years of dealing with the Yin family sisters reminded him of the essential skill for turning the tables when cornered.

"Why would you ask such a thing, are you doubting my love for you? Do you think I’m the type who would cheat on his own initiative?" Shen Mochen’s face filled with annoyance as he turned his head to one side, his voice tinged with grievance, "If you can’t trust me, then let’s just break..."

"It’s just a joke, don’t take it seriously."

Catherine’s fingers lightly pressed against Shen Mochen’s lips, her mouth corners lifting.

Pity, Shen Mochen thought to himself. If only he could take this chance to break up, although he knew the likelihood of splitting over such a trivial matter was slim.

Still, as Shen Mochen looked at the swiftly receding night view outside the window, he kept muttering, "But this joke isn’t funny."

"Okay, maybe that question was indeed offensive to you," Catherine said calmly, "but please allow me to defend myself, I do have a basis for saying this."

"What basis? I helped the teacher down the stairs because it was dark and I couldn’t see, that’s all!" Shen Mochen defended himself vigorously.

Catherine laughed softly, then asked calmly, "So, what did you do with the teacher before that?"

A chill went down Shen Mochen’s spine. Could Catherine know some sorcery that informed her he had just been at Cai Yuncui’s place?

"I just had dinner at her place, you know we live across from each other. The teacher invited me and it seemed rude to refuse..."

"Just dinner?"

"What else could we have done?"

At his words, Catherine’s smile widened as she looked at Shen Mochen’s face, her eyes indifferent in the night, like the perennial ice of the Arctic and Antarctic.

"You’re lying," she said gently, but with such force that it seemed like the final verdict of a supreme judge, brooking no doubt or rebuttal, "She calls you differently compared to others, and you have her scent on you; you’ve at least hugged."

Shen Mochen was startled, but thankfully he and Cai Yuncui were indeed innocent. After calming down slightly, he wasn’t thrown into panic.

"She and my sister are good friends, and she sees me as a younger brother. She heard I was bullied in class and just hugged me to comfort me. Nothing more happened, you can ask her if you don’t believe me!" Shen Mochen stated righteously.

"Really? Kajiena must have a large chest, doesn’t she?" Catherine said.

That’s true... Shen Mochen thought reflexively but immediately realized the trap in the question.

To directly say it’s large is undeniably foolish. To hypocritically claim it’s not would be an outright lie, not to mention confirming that he had "enjoyed" her sizable chest.

What about being vague? Simply saying "I don’t know" or "I didn’t notice"—would that come off as too insincere? Catherine would see right through that!

"Actually, yours isn’t small either!" Shen Mochen gave Catherine a thumbs-up.

What the hell am I talking about! As soon as Shen Mochen finished speaking, he wanted to slap his own mouth.

Catherine had a slight twitch in the corner of her eye, "So are you admitting it?"

Shen Mochen quickly raised his hands in surrender: "Can I also defend myself here? These things really aren’t within my control! It was just an ordinary hug, she surely didn’t think too much about it!"

"You make a good point, but how should I punish you?" Catherine glanced at him, pondered for a moment, and clapped her hands lightly, "How about this, you are to sincerely call me Kajiena from the bottom of your heart."

"Just, just that... no problem at all!" Shen Mochen immediately nodded his head, "But what do you mean by ’sincerely’?"

"It means I no longer want to hear ’Ye Ye Ye’ but rather ’Ka Ka Ka’, and if little Mochen gets it wrong even once..."

Catherine didn’t spell out the consequences, but she revealed a meaningful smile.

Listening to the "little Mochen" nickname, Shen Mochen felt as if he was in a standoff with Cai Yuncui; his hairs stood on end, and he hurriedly nodded, "Okay, I’ve got it, you’re Kajiena!"

Catherine’s smile became somewhat more satisfied, then she waved her hand, "Stop the car."

The driver slowly applied the brakes and pulled the car to the curb. Catherine beckoned to Shen Mochen to get out with her.

After both got out of the car, Catherine walked to the driver’s side, watched the window roll down, and told the driver, "You go back first. My boyfriend and I need to buy things for the school anniversary celebration, so don’t follow us. I’ll head back by myself later."

The driver hesitated, "But Miss, you are..."

"Go back."

Catherine looked at her coldly.

"...Yes, please come back early."

The driver glanced at Shen Mochen again, hesitated for quite a while, but ultimately followed Catherine’s command.

She slowly pressed down on the gas pedal, and the luxury car quickly blended into the night.

"Why did you send the driver away?" Shen Mochen stood by the curb and asked curiously.

"Isn’t it a mood-killer to have someone tailing us on a date? Unless you like being watched?" Catherine tilted her chin up, "Come on, since you’ve made plans, I’ll just follow you."

Shen Mochen lightly touched his collar. Although the days were getting warmer, the evening breeze at night still had a chill to it.

"Kajiena, is it really alright for you to come out alone so late?"

As far as Shen Mochen knew, Catherine was a genuine princess and belonged to true nobility; such families usually had strict rules, let alone going out with a boyfriend. Speaking of which, Catherine was not shy about their relationship at all—he worried that if her parents found out, they would come after him!

"Why wouldn’t it be?" Catherine looked at Shen Mochen with a smile.

Shen Mochen asked curiously, "Do your parents allow you to go out alone with a guy at night?"

Catherine’s eyebrows raised slightly, her hand softly gathered the strands of hair stirred by the evening breeze, as the cool streetlight made her hair appear as white as snow.

"Are you so concerned about my parents because you want to meet them?" She laughed.

"Uh, there’s no need to rush that..."

"Actually, you really needn’t worry about what they think; they won’t care."

Shen Mochen was taken aback, "You... have a bad relationship with them?"

"It’s alright, I suppose, not too bad. At least at my funeral, they would probably attend."
