You Think I Won't Talk?-Chapter 693
*******
"What a persistent bunch... it is one after the other... I have no time for this reunion."
"It was not solely yourself who prepared for battle, Katrina, the broken bones witch." — Jasmine answered unfazed. Standing protectively in front of the hurt Vitor and the semiconscious Theressa. — "Did you think the gods would let a fallen run around recklessly forever in their realm?"
"No. Yet I did not think a guardian spirit would be as persistent as you Aenean. Dead you are and yet you are here rebelling against nature... aren’t you afraid you won’t find roots in pulchra flore once this ends?"
"It is fine for I chose this for my small soul. I fooled sadness hoping to meet a new friend after all." — Elegant, the eyes that originally were of hypnotic amethyst now shone of many colours. Hiding waters of every kind along the spirit’s powers. — "I will not fully drown in sorrow just yet."
"... Calla is not worth it. She’s not worth forgetting your own legacy."
"This is no longer only for Calla." — The spirit and the owner of the body smiled victoriously, upsetting the witch who kept a cautious distance. — "You seem awfully confident. Yet aren’t you afraid as well, Katrina?"
"There is no reason for a fallen to fear. The bottom has been my home from a long ago."
"Indeed... yet can’t you feel it? There is one who loves making that bottom a living hell. It’s been waiting to eat those broken bones you own. Hungry for vengeance."
"... I can sense him, yes. Yet little can he do with a human representing it."
"I believe I told you already. It was not solely yourself who prepared, Katrina. Do you believe... your doings will be punished with mercy?"
The growing tremors intensified as a beast approached hungry for destruction, shaking the whole palace for a moment to suddenly stop dry as if a false alarm... mischievous as it would surely attack. Paige and Vitor, taking advantage of the encounter in the meantime, carried away Theressa who fought the pain so the scene would not go unwitnessed and furthermore... useless.
’... It’s good Marianne managed to escape...’ — The girl thought while her wounds tried to be pressed over by a caring but helpless Paige. — ’If they fight... hf... maybe... she won’t have a hard time doing so herself.’
"M-miss, sniff, d-do not close your eyes. M-my lady will not l-like it i-if I let y-you die, sniff!"
"Keep pressing against the wound. We must prevent any more blood loss." — Vitor told the maid, tending to himself who was hurt but better off than the girl. — "If an earthquake starts again keep yourself close to the wall."
"Y-yes, I understand."
’Ngh... the princess is keeping Karina busy... but if somehow she slips off...’ — "Karina... What you want... will not happen..."
"You should keep quiet. I am letting you three weaklings off since the truly interesting one is Aenean. Have some gratitude."
"... huff... Marianne won’t let a psychotic old hag ruin the Empire... go somewhere else... to play your delusions Karina." — Theressa continued, indifferent to the glare and unaware of the giggles of the fairies hearing her retorts. Smiling as she knew her words aggravated the witch very effectively. — "Nobody likes... toxic women... much less if as ugly as you."
"... Pff! Oh dear~ seems like people’s opinion on your looks have not changed with the centuries Katrina~ and yet you also changed your appearance, hahaha~ it didn’t work out, huh? Ahahaha~"
"SHUT UP! A SPECK OF A BUG YOU ARE, HOW DARE YOU LAUGH AT MYSELF AENEAN!!"
"Oh! Careful~ you almost grabbed little old bug me~" — Avoiding the lash, Jasmine moved swiftly while also protecting the mortals behind her. Taking a moment to ponder if following Theressa’s lead would be best now that a beast was soon to appear. — "Katrina... do you still believe you once had Oregor’s heart?"
"... The truth it is."
"He loved Calla so much... he even did as his race’s tradition did for their dead ones." — Becoming serious, she glanced at the proud witch truthfully curious. — "You were even named inspired by it."
"A name is nothing more than just that... a name."
"Not if named after breaking a sacred memento out of jealousy. One you even once valued so strongly."
"... there was no use for them in my home—" — Katrina’s sentence was cut off by the quiet creak of a door lightly being pushed. The steps echoed tranquil interrupting the conversation and the eyes fell on the man, that one guilty of provoking disasters with his aura’s strength.
Over his shoulder, Høyrød Poena rested as he walked through. His red only was exposed once they opened to look at the stunned but delighted witch standing across him... A suffocating gasp finally left Katrina’s mouth once his pace stopped a few steps away from her. And her delight drove her to him, innocently... for a scheme had been prepared so his hands would receive her passionately.
"Love!" — She celebrated, embracing the man’s waist. — "Finally you have come to me. These people have stood in my way to you yet you knew how to find me..."
"... Zeleskiaz? What are you doing letting that woman do as she wishes?" — Jasmine spoke, displeased by the scene so different to the one expected. — "That is the witch trying to destroy the Empire... hunting Marianne’s head right now."
"..."
"Love... kill your sister for me, yes?" — Katrina smiled as she tried to act cute for a loved one in her arms and her request made his red turn to said sister. Letting out a reply that turned everyone aghast. — "Yes, of course." — A chill travelled the body of those in danger. Aenean’s strength would not be able to hold up against the one with Fenrir within himself and what’s more...
’This cannot be. If he kills me everything we did since Jørgen’s and Calla’s death will be pointless!... My friends!’
’Yes! Great guardian!’
’Make sure to shield those three behind me. I might not be able to protect them as I fight Fenrir’s keeper.’
’Yes!’
Right before her eyes, Zeleskiaz continued to be held by Katrina’s hands. Time was allowed for her to brazen up yet her mind became blank as he looked into the dark blood of the crown prince’s eye, allowing disgust to inundate the guardian spirit. Hating to see the truth so late.
"Abhorrent cursed dog."
— My delight is born from your despair stupid little dust. — The smirk of the deity was served by Zeleskiaz, who skillfully swung his weapon to cut Katrina’s body vertically.
"AGHHH!" — Dark blood flooded as she experienced the painful slay, looking up at the love who had just cut her up. — "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!?! YOU SHOULD BE KISSING MY FEET!!"
"That much blood should suffice."
"WHAT?!"
"Jasmine." — Ignoring the witch’s scream and yet not losing sight of her, Zeleskiaz called for his sister’s name for new instructions. — "Listen... You should—"
"You don’t need to tell me. Aenean also has a part in this vengeance."
— The blood that remained from the chains... grr... was spilt, small thing. Funny it was... your despair grahaha... —
— Aware I am. Distasteful you always are, Fenrir. Games of a dog, play them alone. —
— Khkhkh... stupid dust... Quickly... die as you must. Vengeance is for those who relish in the taste of blood. I am already fulfilling my part. —
— ... indeed... a guardian I am... protection is what I truly am... bring the needed destruction Fenrir... for Calla and Oregor’s true rest. —
Jasmine and Zeleskiaz were the sole witnesses of the farewell between Fenrir and Aenean, friends who hated each other, shared. Different goals they had, yet the same end they wanted on behalf of those they once served, befriended and were loyal to.
"Vitor, Paige, quickly let us take Theressa and escape this place!"
"What about his highness?!"
"We have worse things coming if we don’t leave now! Zeleskiaz will be fine on his own!"
Letting them get away, the tremors Zeleskiaz purposely controlled started to manifest. Slowly... crafting surely what was needed, for the last preparations a guardian spirit had made for centuries bore their powerful fruit.
"Witch."
"UGH!" — She twisted at his call that opened her more.
"Pathetic you are... You underestimated an unruly deity and a loyal creature’s deep hatred."
