Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 452: Testing the Waters
While speaking, Vincent Vance had already carried May Morgan to the room Mr. Drake had prepared for them. The room was not small, likely a master bedroom type, with a large wooden bathing barrel prominently placed in the center, much bigger than the previous one.
Half the barrel had already been filled with hot water. Vincent bent down to test the temperature; it was just right. Only then did he take off the jacket from May’s body and sent her into the hot water.
After placing May into the water, knowing she had difficulty moving, Vincent found a chair to sit nearby and took a wooden ladle to help May with the bathing.
Seeing that he refused to leave and intended to help her bathe, May felt a bit embarrassed, even though they used to be married and shared many intimate moments. But now they’re divorced, and May had registered with Victor Grant, even had a wedding, so in reality, she had no relation with Vincent anymore.
If she let Vincent bathe her while completely naked, it would be improper and disrespectful to Victor Grant.
"You should go out; I can bathe myself."
May hurriedly urged Vincent to leave.
Vincent adamantly stayed seated around the barrel, refusing to move: "You’re unwell, without the strength even to lift your arm; how can you bathe? Let me help you, don’t move around!"
Seeing May struggle to get up, Vincent quickly reached out to support her and put her back into the barrel: "Don’t move around, I’m already finding it hard to help you bathe outside here, if you don’t cooperate, I’ll have to come in and bathe you!"
Vincent’s intentional threat finally produced an effect; May was genuinely afraid he might take off his clothes and jump into the barrel for a shared bath. Her old face would indeed be lost then.
"No, no, no, I’ll listen to you, okay? Don’t come in here!" May’s face changed with fright, sternly ordering him.
Seeing she was being obedient, Vincent smiled faintly, taking soap to wash May, his face filled with reverence, without a hint of disrespect.
Vincent didn’t actually want May; just seeing the nosebleed-inducing body in the barrel was enough to trigger his male hormones, making him want to devour her whole. But he knew he wasn’t an animal; he was human, and as a human, he must restrain himself. May was so weak now. If he disregarded her feelings and consumed her, it would likely cause irreversible tragedy.
So when you truly love someone, you can control your desires under any circumstances. Vincent was doing just that now.
Finally, after bathing May, Jacob Jennings had also brought the supplies he fetched from the airport.
Seeing Jacob had brought May’s clothes, Vincent retrieved May from the barrel, used a towel to dry her, and helped her dress.
The clothes were all practical mountain gear, even the ones May changed into later were the same. For this trip to Mount Caelus, the journey’s extent is unknown; they are unsure how many days they’ll be in the mountains. So having necessary equipment is essential.
Besides professional mountain gear, Vincent also had people prepare antidotes for venom, mosquito repellent, and some ropes and weapons.
Of course, the most crucial part was, he brought two drones some people had sourced and purchased from abroad, featuring the most advanced technology.
This model of a drone is currently the most advanced in the world, mainly used for military reconnaissance. Most people couldn’t even get a glimpse of it, let alone purchase it. Vincent spent quite a lot of effort and trouble to acquire these two drones.
Thankfully, the money wasn’t spent in vain. These drones are equipped with satellite positioning, able to detect anything within a hundred-mile radius, even a grasshopper on the mountain.
Moreover, they are linked to Vincent and the others for mutual positioning. The clothes they wear contain systems that interface with the drones’ positioning. If they get lost in the mountains or encounter danger, the drones will automatically alert the police, allowing the precise location to be found immediately.
Seeing Vincent had brought so much advanced technology, along with two robust bodyguards, Mr. Drake couldn’t help but stroke his beard and said to him: "It seems Young Master Vance is determined for this journey."
Vincent noticed an undertone in his words, possibly suspecting his preparation of so many things implied some distrust toward him. He explained politely: "Mr. Drake, please don’t take it to heart; I have no choice. As you can see, my wife’s condition is dire. To save her, I must ensure no mistakes are made. It’s not a matter of distrust; I just think being fully equipped increases our odds of success, right?"
Vincent’s words, politely humble, left Mr. Drake unable to argue, forcing him to smile and say helplessly: "Young Master Vance, you’ve overthought it. I’m not implying blame. In fact, I’m not particularly sure of the Mount Caelus that Mr. Jennings mentioned; I was fortunate to visit once many years ago. I actually think your precautions make it safer."
Upon hearing this, Vincent quickly signaled Jacob to hand the map to Mr. Drake, indicating for him to examine it.
Mr. Drake took the map from Jacob’s hand, gave it a careful look, then thoughtfully asked Vincent: "Young Master Vance, since you have a map that can find Mount Caelus, why go through such trouble to seek me out?"
Vincent answered honestly: "To be frank, I obtained this map under very peculiar circumstances, leaving me uneasy, worried about potential danger. Mr. Drake, since you’ve been to Mount Caelus, you should recognize the paths there. I simply wanted to ask you to see if these markings are correct."
Without a surprise, Mr. Drake stroked his beard and chuckled: "With Young Master Vance being so cautious, aren’t you afraid I might deceive you into getting lost in the deep wilderness and unable to return?"
Jacob found the conversation somewhat awkward, so he intervened: "How could that be? Our big boss always insists on not suspecting those he uses. When employing people, he does not doubt them. Since we reached out to you as our guide, there is no doubt we would trust you completely. As for the equipment and personnel he brought, it was mainly to care for the injured May. Plus, you must also know, our big boss’s health isn’t suited for long voyages. Bringing more refined equipment and personnel is far better than entering the mountains with nothing, wouldn’t you agree?"
After Jacob’s explanation, Mr. Drake wasn’t intending to be obstinate. He returned the map to Vincent’s hand, confidently stating: "I can assure you this map is real. Yet I must also guarantee that despite its authenticity, relying solely on the people and things you brought to find a mythical mountain in this expanse is simply impossible."
Mr. Drake bluntly gazed at Vincent’s face, resolutely saying: "If modern technology could locate Mount Caelus, then it wouldn’t be deemed a sacred mountain."
"Well... I must ask Mr. Drake for more effort in this!" knowing Mr. Drake was speaking the truth, Vincent immediately humbly sought his guidance.
