Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 459: As Expected, There’s Something More to It
Vincent Vance couldn’t be bothered with Mason Morgan’s forced justifications. He knew exactly what kind of person he was, no need for excuses.
"You’ll first stay at Zenith Villa, later I’ll take you to Crestwood."
After asking his question, Vincent had his subordinate drag Mason away before he finally turned and went upstairs.
Behind him, Mason was still in the dark about why Vincent was taking him to Crestwood. He asked in panic, "Young Master Vance, I’ve confessed everything I should. What more do you want?"
Vincent turned back to give Mason a glance and suddenly smirked coldly, "To take you to your father!"
Vincent didn’t go directly to look for May Morgan but took the photo to the study on the second floor. Once there, he called Jacob Jennings.
Jacob was still waiting for their update in the courtyard of Mr. Drake’s place. Seeing Vincent call, he quickly answered, "Young Master, how is it? Has Victor Grant awakened yet?"
Vincent pondered for a moment before asking Jacob, "Jacob, can you find a quieter place to take the call?"
Jacob heard this, promptly stood up, and walked towards the car outside. Mr. Drake was seated right next to him, and Vincent’s request was clear—he wanted Jacob to avoid this person.
Once Jacob was in the car, he proactively asked Vincent, "Young Master, what exactly happened?"
Vincent told Jacob, "It’s hard to explain over the phone. Connect via video call and I’ll show you something!"
After saying this, he hung up on Jacob, switched to a video call, and connected to show Jacob the photo of Mr. Drake when he was young.
Jacob immediately recognized the young man as Mr. Drake. When he saw the photo in Vincent’s hand, he was stunned.
"This..."
Jacob stared at the photo Vincent sent him, speechless for a long time. Initially, he thought everything was going smoothly, just waiting for Vincent to bring May over. Then, under Mr. Drake’s guidance, they’d find Mount Caelus, and everything would be perfect. But now...
"Young Master, where did you find this photo?" Jacob asked Vincent with confusion.
"Found it in May Morgan’s old family photos. It was May who pointed out something was off, so I questioned Mason Morgan earlier. He admitted the man in the photo is his father, and his father’s surname is Drake!"
"So... what do we do now?" Given that Mr. Drake is problematic, the plan needs to change. Jacob wondered whether they should still look for Mount Caelus.
If they don’t, May might die. But if they follow Mr. Drake to search, who knows if this person would destroy them all?
"You stay with that person; I’ll bring May and Mason to Crestwood later and have them reunite with their father."
Since Mason’s father left twenty years ago, Mason should have enough memory to recognize him. Bringing Mason along to expose Mr. Drake’s true identity and see how he reacts.
Vincent suddenly remembered the night he stayed at Mr. Drake’s house, when he vaguely saw a man in white. He hesitated for a moment before speaking to Jacob again, "Take some time to find out what kind of people Mr. Drake usually interacts with? If you can’t find anything out, visit May’s hometown and inquire if there are any relatives or associates of Mr. Drake left there."
"Why ask these questions?" Jacob asked, puzzled.
"That night at Mr. Drake’s house, between dream and reality, I saw a man in white carrying May away. Later, when I woke up, it felt extremely real, yet May was perfectly fine, resting in front of me. It’s very strange. Go find someone who fits this description: about 185 cm, likes wearing white, exceptionally striking, around 30 years old, who might be connected to Mr. Drake."
Unfortunately, what Vincent saw that night was too vague, especially the man’s face, which he couldn’t see at all. Otherwise, with his memory, he could have drawn the man’s appearance and handed it over to Jacob for investigation.
"Alright, I’ll find a chance to ask."
Jacob hung up with Vincent, turned to glance at Mr. Drake’s small cottage, hesitated slightly, and then drove away.
Time is tight, and he has a lot to inquire about. He doesn’t know if he can find out anything significant before Vincent and May return.
After instructing Jacob, Vincent returned to the bedroom with the photo. As he opened the door, he saw May sitting at the bedside, lost in thought. Her dazed state had a mesmerizing beauty that made it hard to look away.
If it weren’t for concerns about her health, Vincent would have liked to hold her in his arms and cherish her deeply.
"What are you thinking?" Vincent gently sat at the bedside, looking at May’s captivating face, and inquired softly.
Even though May’s face was pale, it couldn’t conceal her charming attractiveness. Vincent felt he could gaze at her face for a lifetime.
"Nothing, just thoughts running wild. By the way, have you investigated the photo?" May smiled lightly and quickly refocused to ask Vincent.
"Yes, I’ve asked people to find your dad. You guessed right, this man is your grandfather... or perhaps he shouldn’t be considered your grandfather."
Vincent carefully chose his words before briefly explaining to May, "Mason Morgan told me Mr. Drake is your grandfather but married into your family. So, you all take your grandmother’s surname, Morgan, while he has Drake. The reason he hasn’t been seen for years is because of you."
"Because of me?" May touched her face in disbelief, questioning, "Does that mean my grandfather left after I was born?"
"Yes, because your grandmother took you in, and your grandfather foresaw you as a jinx. Whoever is with you would suffer misfortune, leading to a fierce dispute with your grandmother. Your grandmother’s strong personality led him to leave home, never to return."
Upon hearing Vincent’s words, May felt a bit resentful, sarcastically laughing, "No wonder Mason Morgan is so vile; abandonment must run in their blood."
Thinking about Mr. Drake’s fervor in treating her illness with herbs and pills, May found it utterly ridiculous.
"What’s he thinking? Disappear for over twenty years, afraid I’ll curse him dead? So he runs away? Just like my dad. And now he suddenly returns, being generous? He must have a motive, right?"
Vincent’s eyes deepened, he spoke seriously, "I also suspect he has ulterior motives. How could a man who despises you suddenly come wanting to take you to some Mount Caelus for curse removal? He must clearly be after something."
