Chapter 68: 68 | The Same Feeling, The Wrong Man

"Have you ever had sex?"

Cheon watched Aurora’s expression shift from concern to surprise. The latte mug stopped halfway to her mouth, and for a moment, Aurora seemed frozen in place.

"I—what?" Aurora blinked rapidly, her cheeks flushing pink. "That’s... where did that come from?"

Cheon regretted the question immediately. She’d spoken without thinking, desperate for guidance from someone who might understand what she was feeling.

"I’m sorry," she said quickly. "That was inappropriate. Please forget I said anything."

Aurora set her mug down, the ceramic clinking softly against the saucer. The air in the shop was warm, thick with the scent of roasted coffee beans and steamed milk.

She glanced around to make sure no one was listening.

"No, it’s okay. You just surprised me." Aurora tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "But no. I haven’t."

"Oh." Cheon hadn’t expected that answer. Aurora was beautiful, confident, popular. She’d assumed Aurora had experience with everything.

"Did... did you?" Aurora asked, her eyes wide.

Cheon stared into her latte, watching the honey swirl through the foam. "No. Not exactly."

"Not exactly?" Aurora repeated, confusion evident in her tone. "What does that mean?"

Cheon couldn’t meet Aurora’s eyes. "Someone asked me to. Tonight."

"Tonight?" Aurora nearly knocked over her coffee. She waved her hands frantically. "Wait, wait, wait. Someone asked you for sex? Tonight? And you’re considering it?"

Several people at nearby tables glanced their way. Aurora sank lower in her chair, her face now bright red.

"Keep your voice down," Cheon hissed, mortified.

"Sorry," Aurora whispered. "But this is huge! Who asked you? Is it someone from our class?"

Cheon bit her lip. She couldn’t mention Rome without violating the contract, but she needed to talk to someone before she lost her mind completely.

"I can’t say who. But yes, someone from class."

Aurora’s eyes narrowed slightly, and Cheon could practically see her mentally sorting through the boys in their grade, trying to identify who might have approached the notoriously strict Class Representative.

"So you haven’t done it before," Aurora said, "but you’re thinking about doing it tonight?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Put that way, it sounded completely irrational. Cheon took a sip of her latte, using the moment to gather her thoughts.

"I know it’s fast. But there’s... a connection between us. Something I can’t explain."

Aurora’s expression softened. "I get that. Sometimes you just know when it’s right." She traced the rim of her mug with her finger. "I’ve been waiting for someone to take a hint for months now."

"Take a hint?"

Aurora’s shoulders slumped slightly. "Nothing. It doesn’t matter." She straightened and focused on Cheon again. "So what do you want to know? I mean, I haven’t done it either, but I’ve read a ton of stuff online."

Cheon hesitated. There were so many things she wanted to ask, but she couldn’t mention the drain or the electric sensation of Rome’s energy flowing into her body and back again.

"Have you ever felt so drawn to someone that you couldn’t think straight?" Cheon asked carefully. "Like your body takes over and your brain just... stops working?"

Aurora’s lips parted slightly, and something flashed in her eyes—recognition, understanding. "Yes. Absolutely."

"And have you ever... touched yourself while thinking about them?" Cheon’s voice was barely audible.

Aurora choked on her coffee. "Oh my god, Hae-Won!"

"Sorry," Cheon muttered, wishing the floor would open up and swallow her.

"No, it’s okay," Aurora said quickly. "You just caught me off guard again." She glanced around once more before answering. "Yes. I have."

Relief washed over Cheon. So she wasn’t alone in this after all.

"And when you’re with them, does it feel like you can’t breathe properly? Like your skin is too tight?"

Aurora nodded, her eyes widening. "Exactly like that. Your chest gets all tight, and you feel kind of dizzy, right? And your stomach does this flip thing?"

"Yes," Cheon said eagerly. "And when they touch you, even accidentally, it’s like..."

"Lightning," Aurora finished for her.

They stared at each other across the table, a moment of silent understanding passing between them.

"So you have someone you feel that way about," Cheon said.

Aurora nodded, a small smile playing at her lips. "For a while now. He’s... special."

"Does he know?"

Aurora’s smile faltered. "I don’t think so. We’re close, but he’s so focused on becoming a hero that he doesn’t seem to notice anything else." She sighed. "I’ve been waiting for him to make a move for months."

Cheon considered this. "Maybe you should make the move."

"Says the girl asking me for advice," Aurora teased gently.

"Fair point." Cheon smiled, surprising herself. When was the last time she’d had a conversation like this with another girl? Had she ever?

"So what else do you want to know?" Aurora asked. "Since we’re already having this extremely personal conversation in public."

Cheon hesitated, then decided to push further. "When someone touches you... intimately... is it normal to feel like you might pass out from how good it feels?"

Aurora’s eyes widened again. "Wait. Has someone already touched you?"

Cheon felt her face heat. "Maybe."

"Hae-Won!" Aurora leaned forward, nearly knocking over her mug again. "You can’t just drop something like that! What happened?"

"Nothing serious," Cheon lied. "Just... fingers."

"Just fingers?" Aurora repeated, her voice rising again. "That’s not nothing! That’s a huge something!" She ran a hand through her hair. "Wow. You’ve gotten further than I have."

That surprised Cheon. "Really? But you’re so... you know."

"I’m so what?" Aurora asked, looking genuinely confused.

"Beautiful," Cheon said simply. "Everyone looks at you."

Aurora smiled, but there was a hint of sadness in it. "Looking and acting are different things. And when you only have eyes for one person, it doesn’t matter how many others are looking at you."

Cheon hadn’t considered that. She’d always viewed Aurora as someone who had everything—looks, popularity, confidence, and surely experience as well. Finding out that Aurora was just as uncertain and inexperienced as she was felt strangely comforting.

"So when he touched you," Aurora continued, "did you... finish?"

Cheon nodded, unable to speak. The memory of Rome’s fingers moving inside her, his mouth on hers, the energy flowing between them—it all came rushing back with vivid clarity.

"What did it feel like?" Aurora asked, her voice hushed and curious. "Was it different from when you do it yourself?"

"Completely different," Cheon admitted. "So much stronger. Like my body wasn’t my own for a minute."

"That sounds amazing," Aurora said wistfully. "Did you feel a warmth spreading through you? Like starting at your center and then moving outward?"

Cheon thought about it. What she’d felt with Rome wasn’t just warmth—it was electricity, a circuit completing, his Essentia flowing into her body in waves that left her gasping. But she couldn’t explain that part.

"Yes," she said instead. "But more intense. Like a wave crashing over you."

Aurora nodded eagerly. "That’s how it feels when I... you know. By myself. But I’ve heard it’s much stronger with another person."

"It is," Cheon confirmed. "And afterward, did you feel... different? Like something changed inside you?"

Aurora tilted her head. "You mean physically?"

"No, more like..." Cheon struggled to find the right words. "Like your entire understanding of yourself shifted."

"That happened to you?" Aurora asked.

Cheon nodded slowly. "I always thought I knew exactly who I was. Now I’m not so sure."

"Maybe that’s not a bad thing," Aurora suggested gently. "Maybe none of us really know who we are until we let ourselves experience things."
