TL: Etude

Situations similar to what happened with the ten Half-Step True Ancestors kept playing out across the fragments of the Infinite Abyss ruins. Anyone who encountered those intelligent abyssal creatures rarely managed to escape.

However, there were always exceptions.

Within a mountain range inside the Infinite Abyss,

True Monarch Ghost Shadow fled at high speed. He constantly conjured ghostly shadows that scattered in all directions. Each shadow resembled his true form—this was his most prized escape technique. It allowed him to create up to three thousand shadows, making it difficult for enemies to tell the real one from the fakes in a short period.

This gave him hope for survival!

Behind him, an abyssal demon cat leaped through the void. With each leap, one of True Monarch Ghost Shadow’s shadow clones was struck down.

As more of his clones were slain, his power dwindled. If too many clones were destroyed, his strength would suffer permanent loss, requiring a long time to restore through cultivation.

But he had no choice. If he didn’t keep using this technique to evade the eerie and terrifying abyssal demon cat, he would die for sure.

He could tell that if it caught up to him, not even his life-saving treasures would protect him. The creature’s power was overwhelming and bizarre, capable of annihilating him with a surge of abyssal energy.

“Damn it! How can there be such a powerful abyssal creature?”

True Monarch Ghost Shadow cursed in frustration.

He had encountered many abyssal creatures before. Though they weren’t weak, he had always been able to defeat them. But this time, the one he ran into within these ruins was different—like a true cultivator, possessing intelligence. Its comprehension of the Dao far surpassed his own.

This left him completely defenseless.

Originally, several other Half-Step True Ancestors had accompanied him. Now, they were all dead, leaving only him alive.

After exhausting many of his ghostly clones and seeing his power plummet, True Monarch Ghost Shadow finally managed to shake off the strange abyssal demon cat.

At the same time, he transmitted the information to the other Half-Step True Ancestors of the Dark God Palace.

Gradually, word spread. With more Half-Step True Ancestors encountering intelligent abyssal creatures, the news finally leaked to the outside world.

Within the ruins of the Infinite Abyss, inside an underground palace.

A gathering of abyssal creatures took place, their eyes gleaming with the light of intelligence. Without exception, each one was sentient.

These abyssal creatures possessed considerable strength. Although none had surpassed the level of a Half-Step True Ancestor, each one was far stronger than the average Half-Step True Ancestor, comparable to early-stage geniuses among True Ancestors.

Suddenly—

A towering figure, a hundred zhang (over 300 meters) tall, appeared, bearing two horns atop its head. Its gaze swept across the creatures present, and they all lowered their noble heads in submission.

In the hierarchy of the Infinite Abyss, this creature was considered an Abyssal Bull Demon, infinitely close to the level of an Abyss Lord. Technically speaking, this Abyssal Bull Demon possessed exceptionally powerful abyssal bloodline potential—far stronger than many newly ascended Abyss Lords.

If the abyssal realm were as it once was, this bull would have ranked among the most elite nobility of the abyss, with a status far higher than that of ordinary lords.

“Greetings, Lord Moen!”

“Greetings, Lord Moen!”

“Greetings, Lord Moen!”

One by one, the abyssal creatures bowed, their voices brimming with reverence.

“Little cat, I heard you let a Half-Step True Ancestor escape, exposing our existence.” Abyssal Bull Demon Moen spoke coldly.

Whoosh! A trembling abyssal demon cat stepped forward, its voice filled with fear.

“Lord Moen, that cultivator could split into three thousand shadows, each indistinguishable from his true body. I couldn’t tell them apart in time. Although I am fast, I failed to strike his true body every time, and in the end, he escaped!”

“Hmph!”

Moen let out a cold snort, and the abyssal demon cat coughed up blood as it collapsed on the ground, severely injured. This scene alone revealed the terrifying power of Abyssal Bull Demon Moen.

“I’ll let this slide for now,” Moen said in a deep voice. “Sooner or later, our existence would have been exposed. If it happens a bit earlier, so be it.

“You all know that our Beastmaster Sect has long studied abyssal creatures, which is strictly forbidden in the Divine Heaven Domain.

“Now, to avoid the disaster of passing through the Dark Forbidden Domain, we merged ourselves with abyssal creatures to resist the domain’s power. Thanks to that, we saved thirty percent of our disciples.

“In comparison, the disciples of those sects from the Upper Three Heavens will be lucky if even ten percent survive.

“This is the advantage of our Beastmaster Sect. However, it is a forbidden practice. If other forces discover what we’ve done, our sect will be in serious trouble.”

“Lord Moen,” one of the abyssal creatures spoke, “one-fifth of the Domain Realm was forcibly thrown into the Dark Forbidden Domain by the Realm Lord’s supreme power. After passing through the domain into this strange new realm, the various forces suffered heavy casualties. How could they have the energy to concern themselves with us now?”

“Don’t forget,” Moen warned, “the Realm Lord cast one-fifth of the Domain Realm here to preserve our strength. Many forces under the Realm Lord likely survived. If they discover what we’ve done, they won’t spare us.

“Our top priority is to fully transform this abyssal fragment and establish our own abyssal faction here. Once we control this place, the other forces won’t dare trouble us. This is a new era—our opportunity to rise again.

“In the future, our Beastmaster Sect could even become an Upper Three Heavens force—or perhaps surpass them entirely!”

Moen’s words stirred the hearts of the disciples, filling them with hope and excitement. Yet some were keenly aware of their limitations.

The foundation of the Beastmaster Sect was weak. The only reason they dared to enter the abyss was because the abyss had been breached, and many powerful abyssal creatures had already been cleared out. Otherwise, the Beastmaster Sect would never have had the chance to act.

In truth, the Beastmaster Sect could no longer be considered a cultivator faction—it had transformed into an abyssal creature force.

Below the True Ancestor level, abyssal creatures were merely monsters. But once they reached the True Ancestor realm, they became members of the abyssal nobility—the Abyssal Demon Clan.

Even the Divine Heaven Domain contained factions of the Abyssal Demon Clan, though not within their specific realm.

If the Beastmaster Sect continued on this path, they, too, could one day become a force of the Abyssal Demon Clan.

“Lord Moen, many Half-Step True Ancestors have now entered our Beastmaster Abyss. What should we do?” one of the Beastmaster Sect’s abyssal creatures asked.

The fact that the ruins were named the Beastmaster Abyss showed that the Beastmaster Sect had truly claimed the place as their headquarters.

“Observe them for now,” Moen replied. “They are still at the outskirts of the Beastmaster Abyss. As long as they don’t enter the inner regions, we won’t interfere. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

But if they dare to trespass into the inner area, kill them all!

Also, make haste and finish setting up the formation over the Beastmaster Abyss. Once the entire abyss is within our sect’s grand formation, we can begin gradually transforming this place and seize complete control!

Before the elders and sect leader awaken, we need to show results. Do you understand?”

“Yes!” The abyssal creatures responded in unison.
