You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 141- long time no see
Laurent was so exhausted that she slept soundly, but Dave wasn’t as carefree. After being teased by her like that, he first had to deal with his physical needs, then took a shower. Afterward, he felt even more awake, with not a trace of sleepiness left. He tossed and turned the entire night, unable to rest, until dawn.
Laurent, however, had a good biological clock and woke up just before seven in the morning.
After refreshing herself with a quick wash, she noticed that there was no movement from Dave in the master bedroom.
She went to the kitchen to make herself some breakfast, though she wasn’t planning to make any for him.
But when she opened the fridge, she was shocked to find that it was completely empty—apart from bottled water and various kinds of beer. It was nothing like before, when the fridge was always stocked with fresh ingredients, and she could easily whip up a full meal.
Without ingredients, a clever cook can do nothing. She couldn’t cook anything, but after living here for so many years, she was familiar with the area. She remembered there was a decent ramen shop outside the neighborhood, so she decided to head there for a bowl of noodles instead.
She grabbed the keys and left. As for why she had the keys—when she entered last night, she noticed that her original set of keys was still on the cabinet by the entrance, with her favorite pom-pom keychain still hanging from them.
The ramen shop owner’s wife recognized her right away and greeted her with a smile,
"Mrs. Washington, long time no see!"
In the past, whenever Dave and their daughter were home, Laurent would cook for them herself, always striving to give them the cleanest and most sumptuous meals.
Sometimes, when Dave was on a business trip and their daughter stayed with Lady Tiffany, she would just try to make do by herself, often coming here for noodles. That’s how the shop owner’s wife came to know her well.
However, now being called "Mrs. Washington" made Laurent feel uncomfortable. She couldn’t exactly tell the shopkeeper that she and Dave had already divorced. Besides, it didn’t seem appropriate to bring it up now. After all, if they were divorced, why was she still living here?
So she simply gave a faint smile and said,
"I’ve been a bit busy lately."
After brushing it off, she quickly grabbed the menu to order.
When her noodles arrived, she had only taken a few bites when she received a call from Dave. His tone on the other end was frustrated.
"Laurent, you promised me that we’d entertain clients together these days. Don’t go back on your word!" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Laurent was confused.
"Why are you throwing a tantrum so early in the morning? Who’s going back on their word?"
There was a pause on the other end before Dave responded in a muffled voice.
"Then where are you?"
Laurent finally understood why he was being so confrontational. He must have thought she was going back on her word and had left?
She wasn’t that inconsiderate. If she had agreed to play along with him, she’d make sure the act was carried out properly.
As for him, he had promised her he wouldn’t pester her anymore, so he shouldn’t go back on his word.
She held the phone and responded firmly,
"I’m at a restaurant outside."
Then she emphasized her position and gave him a little warning,
"Don’t worry, I won’t go back on my word. Of course, I hope you’ll keep your promise once this is all over."
After hanging up the phone, Dave was reminded of his promise to stop bothering her, and his mood plummeted. He angrily threw his phone aside and flopped onto the bed.
Earlier, when he woke up and didn’t see her anywhere, her room was also empty. His first thought was that maybe he had scared her last night, and she had gone back on her word, leaving him. So he called her angrily to ask where she was.
To his surprise, she was just having breakfast outside. When she mentioned what she was eating, he suddenly felt his stomach growl. He missed the homemade noodles she used to make and longed for her cooking. He wasn’t sure when he’d get to taste it again.
It was clear from her attitude that she wasn’t planning to cook for the next few days.
No, he had to come up with a way to get her to cook for him.
If he directly asked her to cook a meal, she would definitely refuse. After all, she had made it clear that she wasn’t going to cook, do his laundry, or make his coffee anymore.
What if... he invited the Browns over for a meal at their place?
It could be like a family dinner. Mr. Brown, that little old man, always liked the cozy atmosphere of family life. Inviting the Browns over would also show off their loving marriage.
Yeah, this idea seemed good.
After finishing her breakfast, Laurent saw that it was still too early to pick up the Browns, so she decided to take a walk outside to pass the time. Rather than return to be alone with him, she preferred to enjoy some fresh air.
She walked around in circles for a while, and when it seemed like enough time had passed, she returned, knowing they would head to the airport soon after.
As for breakfast, she neither made it herself nor brought him anything .
She had told herself that she wouldn’t care about his food, clothing, or living arrangements anymore. He could do whatever he wanted.
When she entered the apartment, it was eerily quiet, so quiet that it didn’t feel like anyone was home. Laurent thought that Dave must have gone out for breakfast, but when she checked, his shoes and other things were still there.
She walked over to the master bedroom and knocked on his door.
"Dave?"
"Are you home?"
After knocking for a while with no response, she listened closely for any sound inside. It was completely quiet.
She glanced at the time—it was nearly time for them to leave. Reluctantly, she knocked again.
"Dave, it’s almost time!"
This time, a response came, but it was weak.
"Come in, I’m here."
Laurent opened the door and saw him lying in bed, still not up. The thin blanket was only draped around his waist, and his lean upper body and long legs were exposed, radiating a strong masculine energy.
Seeing him like this, Laurent instinctively turned to leave. His voice came softly from behind her.
"I’m sick..."
Laurent stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him, feeling a headache coming on.
"No way..."
His client was coming today, and now he was sick? Was she really supposed to entertain his client by herself?
Not to mention, he had been perfectly fine last night—able to act like a rogue—so how could he be sick all of a sudden?
Slowly, he lifted his head from the bed, gazing at her with a pitiful look.
"Last night, you had me like that... I ended up sick from holding it in."
