Zombie Apocalypse: Creation-Chapter 726: Stationing Reservist
When morning arrived, Xiaoyun’s body had fully recovered just as he had imagined as he reached over for his phone.
It was already August 23, 2022. Sunlight was already shining through the window as it went right through the open blinds.
"Hm? Did I really sleep past it?"
As Xiaoyun checks the phone one more time, it is already nine thirty in the morning, past his usual time by thirty minutes.
"Mhm... Stop."
Hearing a woman’s voice, Xiaoyun’s brain immediately became fully awake as he flipped over the blanket, only to see Houqin hugging him fully naked.
"Wake up! Why are you in my bed?"
"Mhm... Ah! W-Why are you touching me!"
Houqin immediately became fully awake, moving as far away from him on the bed as she could, taking the entire blanket for herself.
"I should be the one asking that. You’re just hugging me when I woke up... Why are you still naked, and why are you on my bed?"
After a few seconds of silence, Houqin’s face turned redder and redder until she finally spoke up again.
"There weren’t any clothes lying around, and Wuli was long gone... And I felt a little cold sleeping outside in the living room."
"So you thought the best idea was to sleep on my bed?"
"M-Maybe."
As Houqin shyly looked away to the side, Xiaoyun didn’t blame her as he quickly realized it was partially his fault for leaving her out like this.
"You could have just woke me up next time. I would have just made you some clothes or even a bed."
Xiaoyun quickly handed her a fresh pair of clothes he had just made on the spot, looking away as she started wearing them underneath the blanket.
"I did... You just didn’t respond to me at all."
"Oh... I might have been too tired last night then."
Neither of them said anything else as the atmosphere grew increasingly more awkward until the door suddenly opened.
"Xiaoyun, time to wake up... You two?"
Wuli froze in place as the first thing she saw was Xiaoyun sitting on the bed, with Houqin’s face all blushing red, with a blanket over herself.
"Ahem, I didn’t do anything."
"C-Commander didn’t do anything. I-I was the one who went up to his bed when it was too cold to sleep outside."
"Yeah, right... You two should get up. The sun is out already."
Wuli didn’t comment any further as she closed the door and left the room, leaving the two awkwardly looking back at each other.
"Sorry, Commander. I-I didn’t mean to cause misunderstanding between you and your wife." Houqin nervously responded.
"It’s fine... Let’s get ready to leave before she starts thinking we are doing something weird in the bedroom."
---
As Xiaoyun headed downstairs to the ground floor of the apartment, hundreds of thousands of people were standing outside. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
The entire streets were filled with people, with the majority wearing civilian clothes. Only a small fraction had their soldier uniform on.
Their age and fitness ranged from a man in his fifties to a woman in their twenties, all having in common a rifle in hand.
"Good morning, Commander!"
All of them yelled out loud at once as soon as he stepped out of the glass door, making him flinch a little as he stepped past the apartment entrance.
"Good morning, everyone... Wuli, what’s all this?" Xiaoyun questioned as she stood on the side with a smug look.
"You told the logistics department to call up all reservists. That’s exactly what she did. You’re the one who came up with this idea."
"I never expected that many people..."
As Xiaoyun looked around the crowds, he soon noticed several men coming in his direction with a bunch of cameras.
"Too bad... You’re the one who told her to do it. You can sort this out yourself."
"Commander! Are you really calling all of the reservists to Hunan? Are we really launching a ground invasion into another province?"
"Which news are you from?" Xiaoyun asked as the cameras started taking pictures nonstop with flashes.
"We’re from Luoping Daily, sir."
"I see. Well, first of all, we are not launching an invasion. I had gathered all the reservists to Shaoguan in case of an imminent disaster."
"What’s the imminent disaster?" The interviewer asked the question that all of the soldiers had been wondering about all morning.
"One of our allies, Mr.Zhongxiong in Hunan, had died. There’s currently a bunch of conflicting report that poses a national security threat."
"What is this national security threat?" The same interviewer curiously asked.
"I cannot tell you. But rest assured, the reservists are a security concern... All you need to know is that we’ll continue to monitor the situation as it develops."
The answer didn’t satisfy any of the interviewees, nor did it clarify any of the questions that the reservist soldiers had in the streets.
"But, sir, there have been rumors that General Yiming had been sent to Changsha, Hunan. Can you confirm if that’s true or not?"
As a different interviewee asked the question, a hint of annoyance appeared on Xiaoyun’s face.
"No comment. But I’ll repeat myself, the reservists are for safety concerns posed by the intelligence we had gathered.
For those whose lives had been impacted by this, there will be compensation. And their active duty will end by... Thursday."
This time, the answer satisfied many of the soldiers wearing civilian clothes.
Although some were still a little unhappy, the majority of them were more than willing to hold the rifles to protect their fellow citizen.
"That’s all I have time for. Thank you."
Xiaoyun didn’t let the press continue any further as Wuli quickly gave the signal for the uniformed soldiers to escort the press out from the front.
"Commander Xiaoyun, what are you planning to do with all these soldiers?" Wuli curiously asked as she looked genuinely confused by his plan.
"You don’t have to worry about it. Just keep the troops stationed in Shaoguan... There’s a chance for you to participate in combat in the worst-case scenario."
Wuli was a little grumpy upon hearing the prospect, but she didn’t argue about it as she accepted his order.
"Thank you, everyone, for fulfilling your duty. Your contribution will not be forgotten."
As Xiaoyun waved his hands towards the crowd, they all cheered in unison before the two of them quickly walked off into their car.
"Xiaoyun, what exactly are you trying to do with your plans? Can you not just tell me about it already?
"Do I look like someone who has a plan? I would have told you about it long ago if I had something in my head."
"Now you’re telling me you don’t even have anything in mind!"
Wuli questioned out loud, her hands letting go of the steering wheel as she turned around to look him right in the eyes.
"I’m just joking, relax. Of course I have a plan... I’m going to go to Changsha with the 11th Division while you stay put in Shaoguan."
"Only a single division? Are you sure that’s enough?" Wuli questioned with uncertainty in her voice.
"I’m certain. No point bringing undertrained men to the front line. The last thing I want is soldiers fleeing after being shot at."
Wuli didn’t question his decision, as she herself knew the ’reservist,’ 4th army corps, and the 5th army corps are all recruits with no combat experience.
"Anyway, you mind driving me to where the 11th Division is located? I should really get going before the sun is too high up in the sky."
"Mhm..."
As the car started driving forward, the two of them sat in complete silence as neither of them had anything to say... until Wuli opened her mouth.
"Xiaoyun, what are you going to do with Houqin?"
"What do you mean by that?"
Xiaoyun questioned, his mind looking a little zoned out as he was still a little too focused on thinking about the upcoming battle.
"You submerged her in your... cum. There’s no way another man is going to fall in love with a woman tainted like that."
Wuli’s answer made him fall into silence. He didn’t have a word in his head. Nothing could explain the feeling inside his heart.
"I don’t know."
After a whole minute of the car engine roaring down the street, Wuli suddenly came up with a suggestion.
"Why don’t you just marry her?"
"You think everyone else doesn’t mind it?" Xiaoyun asked out of caution, not accepting it right away, as he felt like it was a bait.
"I mean, you’re already married to like, what? Ten women now? It wouldn’t make that big of a difference to include another person."
Wuli paused for a second, then continued.
"I’m sure they wouldn’t mind it that much... Especially when Leyan did entertain the idea of you marrying Houqin at some point."
"Wait, she did?" Xiaoyun questioned as his memory ran blank, trying to find when any of his wives had suggested that idea.
