Zombie Apocalypse: Creation-Chapter 741: Useless Reactors and Bunkers
"Look on the bright side, it’s still running and hasn’t been damaged yet. I’m sure we can get them somewhere."
"I sincerely doubt that."
Yuqi instantly rejected Yueyue’s optimism as Xiaoyun didn’t even say anything back to them. He was still too focused on reading the paper itself.
"30 minutes from safe zone... Jiangmen’s threat level remains high, and the army cannot secure the road safety as of the report."
Reading more and more pages, Xiaoyun could already see the writing on the wall at this point as he closed pages back together.
"It seems to me that the best decision is to maintain the status quo until the nuclear facility runs out of power by itself?"
Both of them nodded their head. However, neither of them looks as disappointed as he does, as if they had gotten over it already.
"You two got it figured out, then. I don’t think I have anything else to add to whatever plan you guys are going to do next."
"Great. Then we’ll just go with the book."
As Yuqi began noting it down on her computer, Xiaoyun turned his attention over to Yueyue, whose face seemed a little curious about her surroundings.
"Yueyue, what are you looking at?" Xiaoyun curiously asked.
"Just the painting behind her."
"This painting? You like it?"
"I don’t know... But it feels oddly smooth. It really gives a scenic vibe from the emptiness and the black ink around the wood buildings."
"When did you become an artist inspector?" Yuqi quietly asked as she finally finished typing on her computer.
"I’m just saying what I’m looking at... Ahem, I’m going back to my office if you guys don’t have anything else to say—"
Before Yueyue could get up from her seat, Xiaoyun quickly pulled her back down to her, noticing the eye signal from Yuqi.
"Hey Yueyue, I also have something else I wanted to ask you today."
"What is it?"
"You had been wiretapping me, haven’t you?" Yuqi asked as her face suddenly turned completely cold.
"What? What kind of wild accusation is this? I have no reason to wiretap my dear onee san like this."
As Yueyue looked over to Xiaoyun for help, he only shrugged his shoulder before looking out over to the window.
"Come on, this is ludicurious. Xiaoyun, you have to help me out here." Yueyue pleaded as Yuqi started getting up from her seat.
"Why would I help defend someone who had wiretapped me in the past? Who knows if they’re still wiretapping me right now?"
"I swear I haven’t wiretapped either of you guys—"
"Bullshit. I can smell it from a mile away. Do you really think I don’t have eyes inside your department?"
Hearing the level of evidence Yuqi seems to have gathered, Xiaoyun was both a little intrigued and a little surprised.
"Y-You spied on me?" Yueyue pointed her finger at Yuqi in disbelief.
"Of course, my dear sister. And don’t tell me it’s lawful interception or whatever bullshit excuses you want to make."
Yueyue slowly nodded her head, but Yuqi didn’t seem to be satisfied with it as she repeated herself once again.
"Yueyue, I want you to stop wiretapping me. I don’t want someone else listening in to my conversation, you understand?"
"Yes, sir!"
As Yuqi waved her hand, Yueyue quickly took this opportunity to storm out of the room before they could say anything else.
"Hey! Don’t wiretap me as well!" Xiaoyun yelled as he tried to chase right behind her, but she was far gone at this point.
"Stop chasing her. She’s not going to change a damn thing." Yuqi quietly murmured as her face looked a little irritated.
"Why did you just let her go then?" Xiaoyun questioned, looking just as irritated as he couldn’t understand Yuqi’s logic.
"I just wanted her to know she’s not as impenetrable as she might think. She needs to keep herself on her toes rather than shoot for the moon."
As Yuqi returned her attention to the computer, Xiaoyun could smell something that sounded a little off.
"That evidence never existed, did it?"
"Babe, does it matter? We both are suffering because of her... I just wanted to prank her a little, and that’s it."
Xiaoyun rolled his eyes as he didn’t believe the reasoning would be that naive. But he didn’t question it any further.
"Is there anything I can do to help you today? Or is everything smooth sailing?"
"Smooth sailing? When was there ever a day that was smooth sailing? Come over and help me with this..."
---
As the afternoon quickly flew by, Xiaoyun and Yuqi soon arrived back home just as nighttime was about to arrive.
"What took you two so long today? You two weren’t secretly nibbling at the office, right?" Leyan asked as she opened the door for them.
"Of course not. We were busy working for almost the entire afternoon. The end of the month is about to come up, and everything is a lot busier."
"Aren’t you guys doing the whole cabinet reform to split up the workload?" Wuli curiously asked as she sat next to Shuli on the sofa.
"That’s next month. Before then, we have a lot of things and different work transitions during that time." Yuqi answered again.
"Where’s Tianci?" Xiaoyun curiously asked, noticing that she was the only one missing from the living room. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"She’s on her way to pick up your new girlfriend over."
"She what?"
Xiaoyun froze for a second, but quickly came back to his senses as he saw the little smirk on her face.
"I’m just joking. Tianci’s going to come home late because of a lab meeting. Anyway, you hungry?"
"A little bit. But I can wait—"
"I can’t wait! I’m too hungry!"
As Kate protested by rubbing her empty, flat belly, Anna joined in by rubbing her empty, flat belly as well.
"You two can eat first, you don’t have to wait... I think I’m going to go take a shower early today."
"Okay!"
"Let me go with you. I had been sweating, clearing the backyard for half of the day."
Both Leyan and Xiaoyun quickly headed upstairs, leaving Yuqi to grab Lianrong up from the ground as she sat down on the sofa.
"Mommy!"
"Hey, Lianrong. Did you behave well today?"
"I did. Mommy Leyan said I was a very good student. I was able to read the book in front of everyone!"
"That’s amazing."
Yuqi’s face looked genuinely shocked as she couldn’t believe how clear Lianrong was able to speak as a two-year-old.
"M-Mom, I want a reward." Lianrong quietly whispered as she shyly looked down at her mom’s boob.
"Fine, fine. You can have a special prize today. But you have to grow out of it soon, okay?"
As Yuqi began unbuttoning her suit, Qiaolan had already walked all the way to her mother’s leg.
"Mommy! I-I want a reward too!"
"Let me finish playing this game first... Dang it, Nami, you cheated!"
"Sounds like a skill issue to me. Maybe in a million years you get another chance to beat me at this game."
Nami slowly puts the controller back onto the table as she looks over to Xuanhua, who’s still peacefully asleep in her crib.
"Mommm!"
"Okay, okay."
As Yueyue puts her controller down as well, both Wuli and Shuli took the opportunity to take the controller straight into their hands.
"Finally, it’s our turn."
---
"Hey, honey, can you come over here for a second?"
As Xiaoyun and Leyan both just arrived on the second floor, he hesitated for a second before following her to her bedroom.
"What is it?"
"Can you read this? I spent months coming up with this."
Looking at the notebook in head, Xiaoyun started having a bad feeling. But he had no reason to object to it.
"What’s inside it?"
"You remember how you said my plan was awful? I took the criticism and wrote a brand new plan that’s just waiting for your approval."
Hearing Leyan’s answer, Xiaoyun didn’t waste any time opening the first page. Once again, he was a little stunned.
There were no lines, or no writing for that matter. Instead, it was a whole layout for a massive underground bunker.
"Huh?"
"What, huh? Don’t you think this is a genius idea? It’s the best thing I can come up with after realizing what would happen if you’re gone."
"A bunker?"
"Yeah. Without you, it’s only a matter of time before the outside world devolve into chaotic.
We’re better off sealing ourselves off with young kids... At least not until they’re fully grown and we grow old."
This time, Xiaoyun fell into silence. As he flips past the first page and reads more of the layout, he realizes how much effort had been put into this.
He couldn’t come up with any argument. Leyan was thinking so in advance that he felt it was almost certain that it wouldn’t hurt to try.
"Have you estimated the price tag?" Xiaoyun questioned as he reached the last few pages of the notebook.
"Look at the last page. I already wrote the calculation for it."
