Zombie Apocalypse: Creation-Chapter 752: Exposé
"You know what, Houqin, you’re packing your bags and moving over to his place today. There’s no point in waiting any longer."
"What!"
Both Houqin and her dad looked a little shocked, as neither of them expected Jingyi to announce something like this suddenly. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"There’s no rush. She’s only his fiancée. It would leave her a bad name if she moves in too fast." Leyan advised.
"I almost forgot about that... Actually, since we’re both here today, why don’t we check what would be a good day for them to marry?"
As Jingyi got up from her seat and started heading over to the calendar by the door, Houqin finally had enough of it.
"Mom! I’m only Xiaoyun’s girlfriend! Who told you that I’m his fiancée? I’m not getting married any time soon!"
"What?"
Jingyi looked a little shocked, but she quickly recovered as she sat back down right next to Houqin again.
"You told me a few days ago that Xiaoyun proposed to you. Now you’re telling me you’re only his girlfriend?"
"I never said that."
"I’m pretty sure you did..." Xiaoyun quietly murmured as he still vividly remembered how Houqin described it word for word.
"I-I never meant it. That was a mistake. We haven’t even kissed or gone on a date or anything yet."
As Houqin voiced out her frustration, Jingyi looked much calmer than anyone expected as she gently grabbed onto her hand.
"Okay, then you’re his girlfriend. Leyan, do you mind having your son take her on a date and make her a woman?"
"Of course not. I’m more than happy to arrange a date for the two of them... Actually, they should decide it for themselves.
It’s all about free love for the younger generations. We, as old mothers, shouldn’t interfere with our kids’ romantic life."
The sudden changeup by Leyan surprised everyone in the room, especially Jingyi, who seemed to want it as fast as possible.
Still, she didn’t argue back, accepting Leyan’s suggestion as she looked over to her daughter with a fierce look.
"You’re lucky your mother-in-law is so understanding. Any other mother-in-law would have rejected you for being so naive and picky."
"Thank you, Miss Leyan."
Houqin bowed down in gratitude as she could tell Leyan was being genuinely generous in giving them some time to process their relationship.
"No worries... Oh, it’s getting late. I need to head back home before my daughters burn up the kitchen by accident."
"Your daughters, too? This generation nowadays can’t cook. Can’t believe how degraded young women nowadays have become."
As Houqin shyly looked down at her knees, Leyan didn’t say anything back as she signaled Xiaoyun to get up from the sofa.
"It’s been nice talking to you, Jingyi, hope we can see each other again next time... Oh, almost forgot, this is my number."
Leyan and Jingyi quickly exchanged numbers as Xiaoyun and Houqin’s dad awkwardly looked back at each other.
"You scared of your wives, too?" The old man suddenly asked.
"Just a little."
"You’d better be scared of my daughter as well. Or else I’ll come to your house and knock on your door in the middle of the night."
Xiaoyun didn’t say anything back, only giving him a warm smile as Leyan quickly grabbed onto his arm.
"Come on, let’s go."
"See next week, Houqin!"
"See you!"
As the door closed, Jingyi immediately looked over to Houqin with her face written with the word question all over it.
"Houqin, you never told me about his mom. I thought you said your husband was an orphan—"
"He is an orphan. Everyone in the town knows he’s adopted. What makes you think she’s..."
"She’s what?"
Hesitation and regret began to set in as Houqin realized she had misspoken. She had accidently leaked way too much information to her.
"Houqin, don’t stutter. Just say it." Houqin’s dad quietly whispered as he sat back down next to her.
"She’s married to him. You happy? Is that what you wanted to hear?"
"She’s what?!"
Jingyi immediately stood up from her chair in shock, with her husband rubbing his ears as if he couldn’t believe what their daughter had just revealed.
"She adopted him as soon as the outbreak happened and fell in love with him a few months later."
As Houqin clarified the answer, the two still looked a little shocked. But not as shocking as when they first heard it.
"Then her three daughters..."
"Yes, they’re all married to him, too! You got picked on the nose like a dummy, going around in circles the whole time."
"B-But why would she do this?"
Jingyi questioned, her head getting all confused as the situation escalated too much for her to handle.
"Because you never asked them. They just assume you already know about it since they never bother hiding it in the newspaper."
"They played us like a damn fiddle! I knew we should have never let them be together like this."
As Houqin’s dad let out his frustration, Jingyi looked much calmer, as if she had gotten over it already.
"Not so fast. Let them decide what to do among themselves. I’m not going to bother with whatever you have with your... boyfriend of yours."
Houqin looked back at her mom with gratitude, as it became clear that she had given up all control back to herself.
"Thank you, Mom..."
"Ahem, but before you go anywhere, I need to teach you how to cook. No daughter of mine is going out without even knowing how to cook for their future husband."
"Dad!"
"Oh hell no, I’m getting outta here."
---
"Leyan, really? Calling yourself my mom?" Xiaoyun questioned as he put on his seatbelt before inserting his car key.
"What? Am I not your mom?"
"You know what I mean... Why didn’t you just introduce yourself as my wife?" Xiaoyun asked the question that had been on his mind the whole time.
"If I introduce myself as your wife, then the seniority in the family will be messed up. I ain’t about to get called Miss by someone who’s a few years older."
Xiaoyun rolled his eyes as he shifted the gears, ignoring her petty argument as he drove the car back onto the road.
"Whatever you say..."
Driving back home, a question suddenly popped into his head as the radio started talking about the upcoming annual Mid-Autumn Festival on the 10th.
"Hey, Leyan."
"What?"
"You know how everyone in the family knows about our relationship, right?"
"Yeah. What about it? Don’t you dare ask if you should tell her parents. That’s not happening in a million years."
"I’m asking about Houqin... Should I be honest with her? She doesn’t know any of the stuff that we had been through or anything."
Both Xiaoyun and Leyan fell into silence, with the only audio coming out of the car’s radio speaker.
"So...?"
"You should be honest with her. It wouldn’t be fair to have her be the only one excluded. Even Tianci and Lily know about it."
"Okay then."
"But only tell her about it on the wedding day if she can’t accept it. Then she doesn’t love you as much as us."
"Isn’t that a bit late and a little cruel?"
"Ask Yuqi and tell her about it then. I’m sure she’ll come up with a much nicer solution than the one I’m proposing."
"I-I think I’m just going to go with that."
Xiaoyun immediately backed down as he could already imagine Yuqi suggesting to ’lock’ Houqin up or even make her ’disappear.’
"This year’s mid-antumn festival is going to be a real special one, isn’t it? I’m sure everyone is excited for what’s coming up."
"Xiaoyun, have you planned anything for the mid-autumn festival?"
"Ask Yuqi—Ouch!"
"Who told you to use the same answer as me? Hmph! You’d better learn your lesson, or else I’m going to hit you harder."
"Okay, okay, geez... I really got hit for telling the truth."
"You dead on serious?"
"Yeah. What makes you think I was the one who made it? Both Yueyue and Yuqi were the ones who made the two previous festivals."
"Okay, my bad. Sorry honey... Did it hurt?"
As Leyan gently held onto Xiaoyun’s arm, he started pretending as if he was seriously hurt by the punch earlier.
"Oh my god, I think you broke my arm."
"Hmph, then you deserved it."
"Wow... What a cruel and heartless wife I have. Can’t believe she would do something like this to me—"
Before Xiaoyun could finish talking, he let out a cold breath as Leyan’s hand suddenly reached over to his crotch.
"Say one word, and I’m going to jerk you off while you’re still driving over sixty miles per hour."
"Okay, okay... W-Wait, that was force of habit—Hm!"
As Xiaoyun feels a cold sensation on his right thigh, it almost causes him to accidently swerve the steering wheel to the left.
"Pay attention to the road, honey. This is a punishment for... talking back to your mother like this."
