Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower-Chapter 575: Isla’s Attack
"Something’s not right..." he muttered under his breath.
This time, there was no hesitation in his tone. Everyone tensed.
Suddenly, the shadow disappeared.
Just like that. Vanished.
A wave of unease swept through the group as they instinctively looked around, their breaths growing uneven.
"Where did it go...?" Chloe whispered.
But before anyone could react... It appeared again. Closer. Much closer.
This time, it stood barely ten meters away from its original position, its presence far more distinct and oppressive.
A chill ran down everyone’s spine. ’That’s not human...’
Without needing to say it out loud, they all understood.
That thing... was dangerous.
Their gazes immediately shifted toward Silas, who had almost reached them by now.
The moment he saw their expressions, his face hardened.
"What happened?" he asked quickly.
"There’s something..." Henry began, but before he could finish, Silas cut him off. "Get in the car. Now."
His tone left no room for argument. One by one, they rushed toward the vehicle, their movements hurried and tense.
The cold wind howled louder, as if urging them to escape.
Chloe was the last to enter.
Just as she was about to step inside... Something grabbed her. A hand. Cold. Rotting.
It wrapped tightly around her ankle. Her eyes widened in sheer terror.
"Ah!" she gasped, her voice trembling.
She tried to pull away, her body jerking violently as panic surged through her veins.
But before she could free herself... Another hand emerged from the snow.
This one reached toward her upper body, its fingers clawing through the air with terrifying intent.
Chloe froze. Her heart nearly stopped.
But in the very next second... A sharp crack of thunder split the air.
Silas moved. Lightning surged from his hand, striking the grotesque arms instantly The hands were severed cleanly, collapsing into lifeless, twitching fragments.
The grip around Chloe’s leg vanished. She staggered back, her body trembling uncontrollably, before quickly scrambling into the car.
Her chest rose and fell rapidly. ’I almost... I almost...’
She couldn’t even complete the thought.
Once inside, she instinctively looked around... And froze.
The car was empty. Completely empty. Her breath hitched.
"...What...?" she whispered, her voice barely audible.
A suffocating silence filled the space. Then... A hand wrapped around her neck. Tight. Invisible.
Her eyes widened in horror as she clawed at the air, trying to break free. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"I... help..." she struggled, her movements restricted as if something unseen was binding her entire body.
’This isn’t real... this isn’t real...’
Just as her vision began to blur... "Chloe! Chloe!"
Amelia’s voice broke through. "Chloe, look at me!"
The world snapped back into place. Chloe blinked rapidly. The car was no longer empty. Everyone was there.
Silas was driving at high speed, the engine roaring as they sped away from that cursed place.
The others were staring at her with worried expressions. She gasped for air, her hands trembling as she touched her neck.
"...I..." she stammered, still shaken. "I just had... an illusion..."
She quickly explained everything. After hearing her, Silas frowned deeply.
"That shadow..." he muttered. "It must be some kind of entity’s(superior being’s) doing."
Everyone’s expressions darkened.
"But then..." Scarlett spoke hesitantly, "Why did it only attack Chloe?"
A brief silence followed.
Henry scratched his head slightly before saying, "Maybe... because of her slow reaction time?"
He glanced at Chloe. "She was the last one to get in... and her leg was already caught."
At his words, everyone paused, then nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, Chloe patted her chest repeatedly, still trying to calm her racing heart.
"I really thought... something was right next to me..." she said, her voice shaky.
Henry rolled his eyes. "You always think that," he replied casually. "Nothing ever happens to you. You’re strong like an ox."
Chloe’s expression instantly changed.
"What did you just say?" she snapped, glaring at him. "Are you wishing something to happen to me?"
Her voice rose slightly, drawing everyone’s attention again.
Silas, however, remained silent. His thoughts lingered on that shadow.
’If it wanted to harm us... it could have chased us...’
But it didn’t. It stayed there. Watching.
’Then why the illusion...?’
His brows furrowed. ’Too much of a coincidence...’
.........................
Meanwhile...
Isla stood amidst her army of zombies, her expression calm yet filled with a faint pride.
Even under the relentless snowfall, her zombies remained steady. Unlike humans, they didn’t shiver.
Didn’t hesitate. Over time, they had developed resistance to the cold.
’They’re far more useful...’ she thought. ’Even extreme winter won’t stop them... eventually, they’ll become completely immune.’
As she led them toward the SiIvy Base, however, she couldn’t help but feel a slight irritation.
"This path is troublesome..." she muttered.
The snow-covered ground made movement difficult, even for her.
’If I were human... I wouldn’t have survived this...’
Finally, they reached the perimeter. Isla raised her hand.
"Attack."
Her command was absolute. The zombies surged forward.
But... The ground shook violently. Before anyone could react, the earth beneath them collapsed.
"..."
A massive trap had been triggered.
The ground gave way, and countless zombies lost their footing as the earth was snatched from beneath them.
In the next second... They fell. A deep, enormous pit swallowed them whole.
The scale was terrifying.
It was so vast that even an army of hundreds of thousands could be captured in a single sweep.
Isla, who had been at the front, crashed to the ground. Pain shot through her body as she hit the bottom.
For a moment, she was stunned. ’What... just happened...?’
But she quickly regained her senses. "Climb up!" she shouted sharply.
Her subordinates nodded immediately. Without hesitation, they began following her command.
In the very next moment, something invisible pressed down on them.
All of the zombies collapsed.
It was not a natural fall... no stumble, no imbalance. It was as if an unseen force had slammed them to the ground, pinning them in place with overwhelming pressure.
Isla’s eyes widened in shock. ’What... is this force...?’
Before she could react... A massive slab began to appear above them.
