"Alright, come on out," I whispered, after making sure the coast was clear.

"I was afraid that you were going to leave me in there, after all," She let out a sigh of relief, as she popped out of my Pocket Dimension and took the seat beside me.

"Hey, there’s literally dozens of empty seats around, go sit somewhere else," I grumbled, as I munched on some popcorn.

"That’s okay, I’m fine right here."

"That’s not what I-...ugh, forget it, whatever."

It’s about two minutes before the movie is scheduled to start, and I’d picked the seat at the back left corner of the room. There were only about ten or so other people here, and since I’m way at the back, I can keep an eye on all of them.

No one’s looking back here, so it should be safe. The room’s pretty dark, so the portal to my Pocket Dimension is practically invisible.

Of course, Prysm isn’t going to blend into the dark as well as my portal is, so I had to open it just above the floor, so that the row of seats in front of us would obscure anyone from seeing her appear out of the portal.

"This is so exciting! When will the movie start?" She asked me, a thrilled look on her face.

"Any minute now."

"Oh, okay! And what kind of movie is this?"

"Murder mystery."

"Huh? Why did you pick something that sounds so morbid?"

"Okay, I’ll only say this once...quiet down or I’m putting you back in my Pocket Dimension."

"..."

Good, that shut her up. I let out a quiet sigh of relief as the movie then started, taking a sip of my slushie as it began playing. Oh, nice, sounds like I’m right by a speaker. I then winced slightly as I pulled through the straw a bit harder. Ow...brain freeze.

Anyway, let’s focus on the movie. The opening scene was of a dark, rainy evening...tch, I recognize that place, it’s a part of the capital. I remember because I drove through there during my escape. Good times.

I then frowned as I noticed Prysm reaching out and taking a handful of popcorn from my tub, which I’d set between my knees since it was too wide to fit anywhere else on the seat.

I could ask her to move one seat over so that I can place the popcorn on the seat she’s in right now, but...she might take that as a confirmation that I’m sharing this popcorn.

As I noticed her hand starting to reach for it again, her gaze fixed on the screen, I lifted the bucket up and away from her reach...right before her hand reached out and grabbed my crotch.

...I, uh, might not have thought this through well enough. As her brows furrowed in confusion, she glanced this way before her eyes widened in alarm, her mouth starting to open before I quickly placed my hand over it to silence her. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

She then moved her hand away as I felt her face heating up, before I took my hand back with a sigh. Tch, fine, whatever...I’ll share the damn popcorn.

I did decide to be nicer to her, to prevent her from resenting me and then potentially stabbing me in the back further down the line. Go on, you stupid brat, take the fucking popcorn.

I’ll just focus on the movie, I’m starting to get all annoyed and salty. I paid for this, so I might as well make the most of it. Well, at least she can’t take the slushie.

I took a sip of it, before pausing and shaking my head as I got hit with another brain freeze. Ow...this experience is so not off to a good start...

...

Okay, wow, this is a pretty good movie. It’s about a Commoner going on a killing spree in the capital, murdering ’innocent’ Nobles.

The movie is definitely trying to portray the murder as a deranged psychopath and the Nobles as the sympathetic victims, but hey, art is subjective. And in my eyes, this killer is a fucking hero.

"O-oh, so much blood...," Muttered Prysm, looking away from the screen.

Yeah, she doesn’t seem to be a big fan of this flick. Well, I couldn’t care less whether she enjoys it or not.

Gotta say though, if this was my old world, a movie like this would definitely be rated R. Guess age restricting movies isn’t a thing in this world, huh? I’m definitely not complai-...oh, damn, it’s a sex scene.

Uh, wait, hold on a second...they’re definitely having sex for real. Huh, this scene is literally porn...they’re showing full penetration, not just the upper bodies. Woah, okay, this I did not expect. But again, I’m not complaining.

"U-uh, this is...," Whimpered Prysm, her face bright red as she partially covered her eyes with her hands, but couldn’t resist peeking out through her fingers.

"If it’s too much for you...," I whispered back, as I opened a portal beneath her feet and gestured to it.

"Huh? N-no, that’s okay," She shook her head, as she gulped as the moans of the actress echoed around the room.

Gotta say, she’s pretty hot. Really nice tits...this should go without saying, but I’m really turned on by this. I mean, who wouldn’t be when watching literal porn?

Oh, looks like it’s almost over...lightning just struck in the scene, and there was a silhouette briefly illuminated. Prysm definitely noticed that too, and her face has gone from red to pale white, following a slight, quiet gasp.

Watching her is pretty amusing, maybe bringing her along wasn’t such a bad idea, after all. Suddenly, as the killer stabbed the two Nobles who were banging, I felt a tight grasp around my right arm.

I glanced over, to see Prysm clinging to my arm, trembling as she keep looking at and away from the screen, as screams rang out across the speakers, along with the sound of flesh being sliced through and blood spurting out.

Great sound direction, it sounds so realistic-...uh, wait, they probably actually stabbed some Commoner slaves for this, didn’t they? Yeah, that’s highly likely. And that realization changes my outlook of this scene entirely. I hope I’m wrong about it.

"Do you mind?" I muttered, as I tried to shake her off my arm.

"I really don’t like this movie," She whimpered in response.

She saw me slice apart her family just a few days ago, there was blood and guts galore...you’d think she’d be able to handle this without any trouble. Guess not.

"In that case...Pocket Dimension?" I suggested hopefully.

"I-...y-yes, please."

Sweet!

I then opened a portal by her feet, and she wasted no time in dropping into it, before I closed it. Alright, now I can enjoy the movie in peace! The popcorn is all gone now, but I still have the pack of gummies and the slushie! Time to kick back and relax...

Ugh, I saw that coming, but still...what a terrible movie! It was great till the last ten minutes, when the killer was captured and brutally murdered by Nobles.

They should make another version with an alternate ending where the killer evades capture and continues killing till all the Nobles are dead. Now, that would’ve been a great movie.

I headed out of the cinema with a sense of dissatisfaction and disappointment, feeling thoroughly letdown. I suppose I shouldn’t expect an accurate portrayal of what Nobles are really like in movies made by Nobles.

Actually, I doubt I can expect that from movies made by Commoners either. I mean, if a Commoner makes a movie that paints Nobles in a bad, ie accurate, light, that Commoner and anyone else involved will earn the ire of the Nobility.

Which’ll mean that they’ll be facing one of death, slavery, torture or banishment to the Dead Zone, so yeah. So it’s not exactly worth the trouble to make such a movie, it’s basically a death sentence.

Not to mention that Nobles will most likely ban such movies from cinemas even if they are made. Well, anyway, I think I’m done for the day...I only arrived today, and I’ve already explored the town, went through that ranking exam and wasted two hours on a movie with a bad ending.

Yeah, I’ll just get some food and then head back to the inn, turn in early for the night. I’ll take my first quest as an Adventurer tomorrow. Hm, what else shall I do tomorrow, assuming I take an easy quest that I can complete in a short amount of time?

Eh, no need to think too hard on it, I’ll just decide on a whim or something if it comes to it. Yeah, just take things easy and go with the flow. And if the Knights show up, that’ll be my cue to leave.

I’m pretty well disguised though, so I doubt they’ll recognize me...I’m starting to regret not keeping a lower profile after coming here. Specifically, I should’ve just lost on purpose after I qualified for a Bronze Adventurer rank.

No, even if I’d planned on that from the start, I probably would’ve gotten caught up in the heat of the moment and looked to test our my powers and see how I measure up against ranked Adventurers.

I now know how I stack up against others in this world...I’m not remarkably powerful, at least not yet, but by no means am I weak either. And I’ve got plenty of room for growth and improvement...so let’s just say that the pros outweigh the cons...
