That's How We Necromancers Do Things
Chapter 193 - 104: Traveling with Two Beauties
The corner of Lynch’s mouth twitched.
Great. He had managed to turn down her trip to Lakefront Town, but he still couldn’t shake her for the auction.
Still, on second thought, going to the auction was better than having his senior charge over to Lakefront Town for some "sightseeing."
Besides, Amadis was powerful and experienced. It would indeed be safer to travel together.
"Alright, fine. We’ll go together," Lynch conceded with a nod.
The next day, Avril was at the Griffin Station to meet Ophelia and Lilith, whom she hadn’t seen in quite a while.
The two young women were thrilled to see Avril and Lynch.
Ophelia, a brand-new Kite Shield and Longsword slung across her back, looked valiant and spirited.
Lilith, meanwhile, had grown even more refined and lovely, and she was a little taller now. Her new Mage Robe bore the Malthus Clan’s crest embroidered on the cuffs. The Magic Power fluctuating from her was steady and restrained, a clear sign of her considerable progress.
’This girl... she can’t be more than seventeen, can she? And she’s already a Tier One Mage. Her potential is quite impressive.’
Lynch welcomed them and handed over their transfer orders. He was about to have Avril take them back to Lakefront Town on a Griffin to report for duty.
But to his surprise, Avril shook her head vigorously.
Her clear blue eyes flickered almost imperceptibly toward Amadis as she said, "Senior, as your accompanying Priest, I have a duty to protect you. An auction house is the kind of place that attracts all sorts of characters. An extra person means another set of eyes."
Her reasoning was sound, and though her tone was gentle, it was utterly firm.
’Great. This one wasn’t leaving either.’
Lynch put a hand to his forehead.
In the end, the party of two became a party of three.
Lynch had no choice but to send Ophelia and Lilith back to Lakefront Town on the Griffin first.
Afterward, the three of them went to the military stables outside the city and rented three sturdy Northern Warhorses from the man in charge.
Amadis vaulted onto her horse in one fluid, decisive motion.
She had tied her long purple hair back into a neat ponytail. Her magnificent Mage Robe had been replaced with a hunter’s outfit, better suited for travel, a change that made her look all the more dashing and heroic.
Avril had also changed into a simple Priest robe better suited for riding. Her silver hair was tied back with a ribbon as she sat atop another horse.
The trio left Orlando and traveled northwest along the main road.
The first leg of their journey was peaceful enough. But the farther they traveled from the main city, the more desolate the landscape became, with abandoned villages and fields growing more frequent.
Sure enough, they hadn’t traveled more than a few dozen miles before they were set upon by bandits.
The group numbered over twenty men. Every one of them had a vicious look and menacing eyes, and they brandished an assortment of weapons. They charged out from the woods beside the road, intending to rob them.
Lynch gave them a quick scan. He judged them to be a mix of adventurers and bandits. Judging by the ferocity in their eyes, most of them had likely killed before.
There were no innocent refugees forced into their ranks.
The difference between the two was quite distinct; an experienced eye could often tell from their expressions, gazes, and movements.
The outcome was, of course, never in doubt.
Lynch didn’t even dismount. With a mere flicker of his will, his bone bracelet flashed. In the next instant, the terrifying, three-meter-tall, tower-like figure of Bloodfang appeared before the bandits with a thunderous crash.
After equipping his new gear, his Spiritual Power had surged, leaving him with more than enough surplus Commanding Power. Naturally, he had reclaimed direct control over Bloodfang.
And to deal with weaklings like these, using a Tier Four Corpse Puppet would be like using a butcher’s cleaver to kill a chicken.
Sure enough, as the ferocious aura of Bloodfang, a Tier Three Middle Stage Purple Zombie, washed over them, the bandits were scared witless. They didn’t even have the strength to flee and were soon slaughtered, with Bloodfang moving among them like a tiger among sheep.
Amadis didn’t stay idle. With a wave of the jade-bone Magic Staff in her hand, several bone spears shot out with a piercing whistle, accurately impaling a few bandits who were trying to flee from the flanks.
The battle was over in a matter of seconds.
"Junior... your Purple Zombie is *incredibly* strong," Amadis exclaimed, her voice full of admiration and envy.
In truth, she had recently started cultivating a promising Tier Two Black Corpse of her own, hoping to evolve it into a Tier Three Purple Zombie. But for now, it was a far cry from her junior’s.
"Haha, just luck, that’s all," Lynch said with a light chuckle, waving it off.
He and Amadis split the corpses, each raising over ten Skeleton Servants.
The two of them stored away their new Undead Servants, considering them a small "bonus" from their journey.
Avril, meanwhile, stood to the side, her brow furrowed as she prayed in a low voice.
Further down the road, they encountered two more, smaller groups of bandits, both of which were dealt with just as easily.
Lynch couldn’t help but sigh. In these chaotic times, life was truly cheap.
By the evening of the third day, they had reached the area of Black Stone Castle.
It was an abandoned castle built halfway up a mountain. Constructed entirely from massive black stones, it looked quite magnificent, like a great beast crouching in the twilight.
The trio found a hidden patch of woods a few miles from the castle and stopped.
"Senior, this isn’t anywhere near Saint Roland City. It’s best if we keep a low profile." As he spoke, Lynch took out three large, gray cloaks and three masks that would cover most of their faces, which he had prepared in advance.
"Tuck your hair in, cover up your Magic Equipment, and suppress your auras as much as possible. Above all, don’t reveal your faces or any distinguishing features," Lynch instructed as he put on his own cloak. He pulled the hood low, donned his mask, and suppressed his aura as much as he could.
He now looked like an ordinary, gray-cloaked traveler.
The two women did as they were told.
