Chapter 93: Healing, Request for Leave

While driving, he picked up his phone. The first call he made was to Hai Fu.

Just after rejecting Bai Jie’s last suggestion, he thought about driving straight back to Hai Fu to have a good time with her. But now he felt ashamed!

"What’s up? Drinking alone outside? Want me to come and keep you company? It’s so late, I really don’t feel like going out. If you want, come to me." Hai Fu said with a gentle laugh.

Li Yan felt a surge of warmth. Because of Xiao Di and Yurong’s affairs in recent days, he was in a bad mood and unwilling to get involved in emotional exchanges, preferring to throw himself into work or entertainment. But hearing Hai Fu’s words, he knew that someone still cared for him and was waiting for him.

"No need, it’s so late. I would hate to make you come out to drink with me. I just... I just miss you."

Upon hearing this, Hai Fu immediately understood and said, "Hmph, you miss me? Anyway, you still owe me a lot, so come over and pay your debt!"

Hai Fu’s words made Li Yan feel both touched and amused. It seemed that such changes couldn’t happen overnight; a sudden change actually made her suspect that something went wrong. "Sister Hai, I’m fine, and I’m not drunk. Everything’s good; I just... felt a bit emotional and thought I haven’t treated you well enough, so I wanted to call you."

"Silly boy..." Hai Fu felt a warm flow in her heart, and her eyes moistened a bit. She finally understood and confirmed that this was just his care, pure concern. "It’s good that nothing’s wrong. You can always call me, even if there’s nothing."

"Stop joking! If there’s nothing, go to sleep. I’ve seen you’ve been working hard recently. You went out drinking for social engagements again, didn’t you? Go back and rest quickly!"

Although Hai Fu didn’t use her company authority, her tone was somewhat commanding.

Li Yan usually resented orders, but tonight was different. It was partly due to his mood and partly because Hai Fu’s command carried deep care for his well-being. What he felt wasn’t the emotion of a strict superior but pure concern, like the care from family or an older sister!

Having left home early and become independent for years, even now mingling with several girls, apart from Wen Qianyi and Hai Fu, he was mostly the one caring for and looking after others more. But being cared for once in a while felt nice, making him feel a bit younger.

He then called Huang Ying. Compared to others, obedient and centered-around-him Huang Ying was more of a healing presence.

After ringing for a while, Huang Ying frantically picked up: "Li Yan? Sorry, I just went to bed."

Li Yan laughed: "You just went to bed, and I woke you. The one who should apologize is me, not you."

"I... I didn’t pick up immediately. Did you wait long?" Huang Ying whispered.

"No, I didn’t have anything particular. I just wanted to ask if work was okay today? Was anyone giving you trouble? Any difficulties?"

Huang Ying smiled: "There aren’t many bad people, who’s bullying me? It’s just the work is a bit challenging, and I’m not quite used to it due to my limited experience."
