The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl
Chapter 91: Restless and Uneasy
After Yiyi finished her tasks, she returned home in a happy mood.
Upon seeing her mother for the first time, she immediately shared the good news with her.
Upon hearing that the medicine pills finally started bringing in money, Ding Yuejun was also very pleased, "Yiyi, that’s fantastic, the pharmacy business will definitely get better and better."
"Yes, definitely."
Yiyi said confidently.
Over the weekend, Yiyi’s mood was very good, but when Monday came and she saw Fei Erya at school, her good mood disappeared completely.
"Erya, what’s wrong with you? You look completely out of sorts, and... what happened to your face? Did someone hit you?"
Fei Erya quickly forced a smile and said, "Yiyi, no one hit me, don’t worry."
"Erya, are you even trying to fool me? There are faint red marks on your face, it’s obvious somebody hit you."
Upon hearing this from Yiyi, Fei Erya’s weary expression faltered slightly, her eyes gradually reddening, "It’s... it’s because my mother hit me; she was angry I didn’t help my sister."
Upon hearing this, Yiyi was about to explode with anger.
"What did she ask you to help Fei Wenya with?"
Fei Erya felt quite distressed, "She wanted me to take my sister’s place at the factory for a day, but I refused because I hadn’t finished my homework yet."
"Erya, you were right to refuse; you shouldn’t agree to such unreasonable requests, especially since they’re just dreaming, wanting money without working for it. There’s no such thing in this world. By the way, does your dad know about this?"
"He knows."
"And he didn’t say anything?"
Fei Erya fell silent, her expression complex.
Yiyi understood everything now, realizing that her father, Fei Zhangda, knew his daughter had been wronged but chose not to care, showing no intent to stand up for her, "Erya, you should spend weekends at our house from now on; don’t go back, to avoid further grievances."
At this moment, Fei Erya was thoroughly disappointed in her family. Hearing Yiyi’s words, she nodded directly, saying, "Okay, I won’t go back on weekends anymore. They don’t really want to see me or hope for my return." Her mother only had her sister in her eyes, clearly not caring about her, and even her father was indifferent, bearing no affection for the home that held no warm memories for her.
When the two returned home after school, Ding Yuejun had already prepared lunch. By now, the red marks on Fei Erya’s face had disappeared, and she smiled sweetly, calling out, "Aunt Ding."
"Erya, I haven’t seen you in two days; I missed you. I made your favorite braised fish, eat more at lunch."
Hearing this, Fei Erya couldn’t help but have her eyes redden.
To Ding Yuejun, she was merely a classmate of her daughter, yet she could discern her likes from her subtle actions. However, her biological mother couldn’t even remember her birthday, let alone her favorite food. In comparison, Ding Yuejun treated her exceptionally well, better than her own family.
"Thank you, Aunt Ding. I’ll have more at lunch."
Suppressing her tears, Fei Erya beamed, uttering sweet words.
Seeing the spark of delight in her friend’s eyes, Yiyi felt relieved. Throughout the morning, Fei Erya had been downcast, but now her mood had lifted.
After lunch, the two rested for a while before heading to school.
Starting with the first class after noon, Yiyi felt uneasy.
"Yiyi, what’s wrong?"
Noticing this, Fei Erya asked with concern.
"Nothing."
Yiyi whispered, unable to disturb the class. Although she insisted all was fine, she still felt uneasy, as if she had forgotten something crucial.
After class ended, Fei Erya saw the worried look on Yiyi’s face, "Yiyi, what’s exactly wrong? You seem restless, did something happen?"
"I don’t know, it feels like my heart’s racing, as if I’ve forgotten something important."
Trying to recall, Fei Erya was puzzled, "Forgotten something?"
Yiyi shook her head, unable to explain.
"Hey, Mo Yiyi, are you just making excuses for not paying attention in class? The month’s almost over, and the first exam is coming up early next month. Are you worried about failing, that’s why you’re pretending to be uneasy about your performance?"
Le Ping looked at Yiyi disdainfully, her eyes filled with contempt.
However, hearing these words, Yiyi froze.
"Month-end... it’s already the end of August..."
Suddenly, she stood up, turning to Fei Erya in haste, "Erya, help me ask the form teacher for leave, I have something at home, I’ll be going first."
Leaving these words, Yiyi rushed off.
"Yiyi..."
Seeing Yiyi’s hurried figure, Fei Erya also started to worry.
Meanwhile, Le Ping’s expression was full of ridicule, "Mo Yiyi really is something, already taken lots of leave before, and now still wants more leave; she might as well not attend class."
"Le Ping, seeing Yiyi’s appearance, you can tell her family really has something going on. Next time, don’t just chime in with sarcastic remarks."
Fei Erya’s retort left Le Ping blushing, unable to argue, for Yiyi’s worried demeanor had been witnessed by all, hinting at a genuine urgency.
Meanwhile, Yiyi ran swiftly towards home.
She finally understood what she had forgotten; she remembered her sister Mo Xiaohong had an incident at the end of August. Though currently, Mo Xiaohong hadn’t gone to work out of town, but rather worked at the local food factory, the arrival of this day still filled Yiyi with anxiety.
"Yiyi, why are you back? Finished school early?"
Ding Yuejun was shocked to see her daughter return.
"Mom, has Xiaohong returned? I remember she started resting this afternoon."
Ding Yuejun shook her head, "She hasn’t come back yet; should be home soon."
At this moment, Mo Shan sleepily came out of the room, "Aunt, you’re back, so it’s dinner time now."
"Shanshan, go back to sleep, it’s still early."
Having said this, Yiyi turned to her mother, "Mom, I’m going to pick Xiaohong up, you stay here with Shanshan for a nap."
"Hey... Yiyi, what’s happening? Don’t leave yet."
However, Yiyi had already run off.
Seeing her daughter leave without looking back, Ding Yuejun felt anxious—though knowing this afternoon should be classes, her daughter had come home early, in a rush to fetch Xiaohong, leaving her wondering what had happened.
