Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1483: The Pair Driven Apart
Thinking of his haggard appearance, Jocelyn Morgan felt an indescribable pain in her heart! It was as if blood was seeping from a tear.
The once radiant medical genius, in just a few days, seemed to have weathered the ravages of time, suddenly appearing much older.
Jocelyn Morgan felt that she was the one who had harmed him.
With tears in her eyes, she finished her meal and said to Finn Morgan, "Brother, when you have time, can you buy me a new phone?"
"I already got it! I’ve already bought it." At that moment, Hailey Hale came over holding a phone box, "I’ve also gotten your card replaced with the same model you used before."
She walked over with her big belly, holding out the exquisite box with both hands.
"Thank you, sister-in-law." Jocelyn Morgan was very moved, accepting it with a smile, and then turned around and went upstairs.
Everyone knew that she was eager to contact Ian Shelby. A dim and determined glint crossed Jasmine’s eyes, "She can’t be with Ian Shelby anymore. This incident is a warning from heaven."
"... " An oppressive silence fell over the dining room.
Jocelyn went upstairs and returned to her bedroom, the first thing she did was dial Ian Shelby’s number. As her fingers pressed the familiar digits, her heart trembled just like her fingers.
Soon, the call connected, "Jocelyn." Ian Shelby’s hoarse voice came through, filled with intense heartache and longing.
"Ian, I’m sorry." Jocelyn Morgan’s nose tinged with sourness, holding back her tears from falling, "It’s all my fault that uncle and aunt misunderstood you, I’m sorry."
"I’m the one who owes you an apology; I couldn’t protect you properly." Hearing her apology, Ian Shelby felt a knife twisting in his heart, "Jocelyn, focus on getting well for now, I’ll come find you once uncle and aunt have calmed down, and we’ll face everything together, alright?"
"You won’t give up, right?" Jocelyn asked, crying, "You still want me, right?" She felt she had altered his life’s trajectory.
Diverted his attention...
"Silly, of course." Ian Shelby was immensely relieved she was still alive, "Jocelyn, I’ll definitely keep you safe from now on."
Then Jocelyn cried, and on the other end of the phone, Ian Shelby’s heart ached intensely, yearning to hold her, "Jocelyn, don’t cry, take care of yourself."
"Okay, you too." Thinking of his haggard look, her heart ached once more.
Ian Shelby told her, "Vera Ford was taken by the police, she’ll receive due punishment."
"Okay." Jocelyn Morgan had no interest in Vera Ford’s fate, her mind solely on him, "You must take care too, you really look worn out. I need you more than anyone."
"I’m fine, truly." Watching her safely return made Ian Shelby feel like his sun had risen once more, leaning against the door, tilting his head back to keep tears at bay.
The two chatted briefly, reluctantly ending the call.
The Morgan family, Jocelyn Morgan’s bedroom, Jasmine and Everett Morgan entered.
"Aunt..." the girl turned her gaze, gripping her phone.
"Jocelyn." Jasmine walked towards her, sighed, and spoke clearly, "Your uncle and I have discussed and decided to not allow you to continue your relationship with Dr. Shelby."
"This incident truly wasn’t his fault." Jocelyn defended him, her stance equally clear, "Blaming him is unreasonable!"
"Jocelyn..."
"Aunt, my parents entrusted me to you, and now that something happened to me, aren’t you partly responsible too?"
Jasmine and Everett Morgan were left speechless by her retort, glancing at one another.
Jocelyn also realized her words were too harsh, "I’m sorry." But the truth was as it stood.
