100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat - Chapter 43: Empty
Aegon cleaned the sweat that was about off his head while he sat down on the body of the dead monster.
Although it bled out to death, the area in which he sat upon didn’t have any blood stains on it.
As he sat down, he looked at the system and saw the new feature which he had just unlocked, and nodded his head.
"This is actually needed now I don’t have to carry everything I own physically..."
The inventory was a purple and black spiral shaped space within the system. The spiral shape didn’t move but stayed still, even though it was a portal space.
At his side was another window that instructed him on how to use the inventory.
[Inventory - "status" : new (unused)]
[Description: The inventory is a storage space that will hold items, weapons, and other things. It doesn’t require mana and can hold an infinite amount of items without collapse.]
[Note: Physical items, and not living beings.]
The system was oddly specific but that didn’t bother Aegon one millimeter. He raised the dagger up for the monster’s body, which was already stained with the black blood when it used it earlier.
For a moment, he looked at the dagger, at the black blood and wondered if it was normal, but he didn’t stay too long on it.
"It is from a monster so it should be expected, not that I know of these things."
Although he had said this, he still wondered if all monsters had black blood because the ones he fought with and killed in the fake Abyss didn’t have black bloods.
As expected, he didn’t dwell too much on the ideas and simply held the dagger above the inventory.
A single drop of blood slid down to the tip of the dagger and entered the inventory, but nothing out of the ordinary happened.
Seeing this, Aegon left the dagger and it dropped into the inventory, while it was entering, a slight spark of purple and white energy appeared visibly, then it swallowed the dagger making it disappear in thin air.
"Oho... amazing."
He was tempted to look under the window of the inventory to see if anything fell down, he didn’t, but just then, he did.
"There is nothing. So did it really store it?"
Aegon was amazed by the feature but had no expression of excitement on his face. It was as though he was happy within, but outside, a different side displayed.
"If that’s the case, how do I take it out? Do I ’will’ it and it will appear?"
The words left his lips and nothing happened. Well, it wasn’t as though he was talking to the system for something to happen.
He saw nothing and was completely baffled, then said.
"Come forth, dagger!"
Nothing happened, which he had expected. But just then, the spiral shape began spinning and Aegon was startled.
"Did it work?" He thought.
But that wasn’t the case. He waited for a couple seconds to see if the spinning meant his order had been heard and the dagger was going to appear.
However, after about a minute and nothing happened, he knew that wasn’t the case.
"Maybe I should just..."
Just then, an idea entered his head, then he raised his right hand to the front of the inventory, a finger pointing over it. At that moment, the display of the inventory suddenly changed and showed several different empty slots of the same sizes, all at the top, the middle and below.
However, out of all these empty slots only a single one wasn’t empty. This was the top left corner of the inventory.
Here, there was an image of a weapon which signified that something had occupied that slot, and it was a weapon.
Upon seeing this, Aegon suddenly paused and gazed at the inventory, at the already occupied slot, then he uttered.
"I’m guessing that’s the dagger..." He was certain.
’There are multiple empty slots which mean I can keep a lot of items inside it, infinite.’
Aegon nodded his head as he thought of these. Now he wanted to get back the dagger so he kept his eyes on the dagger slot and subconsciously dipped his hand into the inventory.
In that same moment, the same slight spark of purple and white energy appeared meaning it would always happen when something is entering or going out of the inventory.
Just then he brought out his hand and on it, he held the dagger.
"Hehe... wonderful."
Aegon wasn’t surprised at only just being able to bring out the dagger, but also that the dagger had been thoroughly cleaned off the blood stains and was now looking new.
"This was unexpected."
Seeing this, his gaze shifted to where he had dropped his bag and knew it was time for him to store it, but there was one more item on him he needed to keep.
He brought out the return stone in hope of storing it but as he looked at it, he found that the stone had cracked in the middle forming a straight line, and it didn’t glow any light at all.
"W... what happened."
Aegon was startled, but at the same time baffled.
"Was it when I rolled on the ground?"
He panicked for a moment as he jumped down from the monster’s body. He held the stone in his hand and gazed at it deeply.
"Don’t tell me, don’t tell me. It can’t die. How will I get out of here now?"
He had thought of this long ago. After he left the Awakeners gathering, his plan was to enter the Abyss before them, but still catch up to them at some point.
Meaning, that wherever he was going to spawn from would likely be where they would also appear when they all enter the Abyss.
But after seeing this place he had spawned on; the shore of a black ocean, he knew this wasn’t the right place and no Awakener would appear here.
He was going to use the return stone to leave and re-enter, that is, after he had defeated the monster and also when the time of cool down had reached.
However, now that was no longer possible. There was no light glowing from the stone which could only mean one thing.
"Is it broken?... Dead?"
It was the only conclusion but the cause wasn’t when he had thought it was.
Aegon blamed himself for killing it which he was certain happened when he fell to the ground while fighting the monster.
But, that wasn’t the case. The return stone had broken immediately he used it to enter the Abyss, he had been brought to this particular place against his own will.
But of course, he knew nothing about this and simply thought it was his fault.
The expression on his face had turned pale as he felt a bit down, empty.
"Well, can’t dwell on it too much. It means I just have to go forward on my own now."
It was a tough decision but there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t just stay down, therefore, he had to keep moving forward.
Even with this idea, he still placed the stone into the inventory which occupied a different slot and displayed the image of a crystal.
Then walked to his bag, picked it up and threw it into the inventory. The bag occupied another slot and the image displayed there was a backpack.
At this point, Aegon still had the dagger in his hand, and with no mana left or skill to be able to use, he felt, not full, but not wasted.
He then turned to the only place he hadn’t looked at since he got to this part of the abyss.
Now backing the ocean, he was graced with a massive forest full of thick trees that stretched very wide on both sides.
It continued farther just as it was with the ocean. Aegon was in the middle; the shore, at his front was a long width of thick forest and behind, was a black endless ocean.
He was going to move forward, but where exactly was he going to go?
He couldn’t enter the ocean, he didn’t have a boat and even if he did, the spiral hole wouldn’t allow him to go far before swallowing him, so his best option was...
"I guess I have to enter the forest if I want to survive out here."
Aegon began walking towards the forest, his grip holding the dagger tightly. He didn’t let his guard down since he knew this place was crawling with monsters.
Just then, he stepped on an object that made a crack sound, and suddenly the ground began to shake tremendously like an earthquake.
It was obvious.
"Oh, damn..."
