Chapter 89: Guild Masters Meeting

Xemburg City, Eminence Road, Awakeners Association.

In a large meeting room, painted in white and red, art works filling the walls, along with images of artifacts that seemed to be out of this world.

The room was large enough that it could fit a whole cooperation office staff and still have space left for another cooperation group.

At the center of the room, a long bronze table was placed with high mesh chairs arranged symmetrically, five on each side, with one at each end.

The chairs at each end were empty, not occupied, while the others were occupied, only five of them, that is.

At the right side of the foremost chair, on one end, two men were seated, while at the left three individuals two male and one female were seated, an empty space given after the first male, then the female and next male.

"Hm, I see you are as agile as ever Goerge, you never keep your temper in control." The man seated at the left who had a space after him before the next two individuals, spoke. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

He is a young man with a sharp, intense gaze and messy, dark blue and light purple hair on each side that falls over his forehead in loose strands.

His most striking feature is his heterochromia; his right eye glows with a piercing golden-yellow hue, while his left eye remains a deep, dark red.

Thin, faded scars mark his face, one running vertically through his golden eye and another slashing across his left cheek, giving him the look of a seasoned warrior who has survived countless battles.

He wears a high-collared black outfit that emphasizes his pale skin and stoic expression, projecting an aura of cold, focused determination.

He is an S-rank awakener and the guild master of the Characteristics Guild.

George, who is the guild master of the integrity guild, had his legs crossed, at where he was sitting, looking at the Characteristics Guild master.

"Are you speaking to me like that boy?" George asked, his expression cold as ice. "You think I don’t know what you have done? You and all your lackeys?"

The Characteristics Guild Master took his gaze away from George and landed it on the Challengers guild master sitting beside George, while he spoke, his voice hoarse like he just woke up from a sound sleep.

"What are we actually here for?"

He was seated like a warrior, with a relaxed but alert posture even though his face was sleepy, his athletic build highlighted by a sleeveless black tunic and dark green hakama pants.

His long, red brown hair is tied in a high ponytail, with several loose strands framing a face. A katana is strapped securely to his back, its hilt visible over his shoulder. He carried it everywhere he went as if he was always expecting a fight anytime any day.

Dark leather bracers wrap around his forearms and biceps, adding to his ragged, wanderer aesthetic; the sharp lines of his jaw and the muscular definition of his arms, giving him the look of a skilled fighter at peace but dangerous when provoked.

He is a challenger in the battle of nature but peaceful in his spare time. He is also the youngest among all the big three guilds.

The Integrity, Characteristics, and Challenger guilds were the three strongest guilds, mastered by S-rank awakeners.

Geroge turned to his right looking at him, "Oh you have woken? I thought we were going to sleep throughout the meeting. Oh wait," with a mockery expression he pointed with his left thumb to the Characteristics guild master, "Is it, scar face over there who woke you up? I get it, his voice is always unpleasant... haha!"

The Challenger guild master spoke, "I wasn’t going to sleep for that long regardless. I was waiting until the chairman got here, you guys need to get along with each other more often, you are guild masters for goodness sake."

"What do you mean, Quincy?" George tapped the Challengers Guild Master on his back continuously while smiling, "we always get along. This is just adults talking, so don’t worry too much."

Quincy looked at George with his sleepy expression, George having a bright smile on his face which seemed to be genuine but in reality was faked and forced.

George stopped tapping Quincy’s back, and stopped laughing, then, facing the Characteristics Guild Master, he said.

"Nevertheless, the truth is going to come out, regardless of how much it wants to hide itself from me."

At this moment, with both legs on top of the other, he folded his arm, his cloak placed on his shoulder but wasn’t fully worn.

His tie, however, was still not tied. His expression now cold and serious, as the air in the room began to build a tension.

His gaze was directed at the characteristics guild master, their gaze creating a strong tension in the room that everyone could feel.

The other two guild masters, the mages guild and the starlight guild masters who were seated at the left hand of the characteristics guild master in an empty seat from him, both shook their heads in disbelief.

"And what is that you are trying to apply, by looking at me, George? Do you think me, a part of this situation?" the characteristics guild master asked, his expression cold and unfazed.

And George spoke, "Everyone knows your guild, Julius. You are the characteristics guild remember? You never abide by your name, more like the opposite. Although you are one of the big three, it still doesn’t make you invincible."

"Say you, Mr. Integrity?" Julius replied.

The last words that came out from Julius’ lips was enough to spike the anger inside George, his face already vexed, anger about to burst out, but in that moment a female voice spoke.

"Don’t you see he’s trying to provoke you, George?"

It was the Guild master of the Starlight Guild, Charlotte.

She appears as a celestial being draped in a shimmering, pearlescent white hood that glows with an iridescent sheen.

Her long, pale hair cascades like liquid starlight over her shoulders, framing a face with ethereal purple eyes that pulse with an inner light.

She is adorned with golden jewelry, including intricate cross earrings and multiple layered necklaces that rest against her chest, the lowest one glowing with a warm, fiery intensity.

A golden filigree pattern traces the edges of the hood. And her skin is softly illuminated by a golden radiance that seems to emanate from within her clothes.

Her expression is one of calm, divine focus, making her look like a holy messenger born from the stars themselves.

Hearing her calm angelic voice, George lowered his anger, staring at Charlotte, admiring her radiant beauty.

"Tch, where is that old man, does he think we have all day?!" George called out, talking about the chairman.

"You are the one who called us here, yet you have little patience to wait for your superior." The words were spoken, but no one moved their mouth, but George knew who spoke.

"Do you have a problem with me, Raymond?" George asked, looking at the guild master of the Mages Guild

Raymond shook his head in response but chose to avoid eye contact with George, because he knew how he could be sometime.

Raymond was seated beside Charlotte, cloaked in shadows, draped in a heavy dark hood that partially obscures a pair of sharp calculating grey eyes.

A sleek black mask covers the lower half of his face, secured by thin, intricate lacing that extends down the neck like a web of leather.

The attire is a blend of mystery and tactical elegance, featuring a low-cut dark tunic adorned with silver studs and layered with delicate metallic chains that glint faintly in the room light.

An extensive midnight-colored cloak is fastened at the shoulders by silver buckles, billowing around them to create an air of quiet, lethal authority.

His entire appearance shows a master of the unseen, a sorcerer who moves through the world as a ghost wrapped in silk and steel.

George was still staring at Raymond, but Raymond refused to look at him. Although he might look mysterious, he still knew the difference in strength between him and George.

George is a S-rank awakener while Raymond, an A-rank top stage awakener.

Seeing that Raymond wasn’t going to take the bait, George removed his gaze, raised his two legs and placed them on the bronze table, everyone looking at him, disgusted.

However, at that moment, the door at the far end of the meeting opened and three individuals walked in.

Hearing the door opening, George instantly took his legs off the table, as if trying not to be seen by whoever was coming in and in that exact moment,

The Chairman, the vice chairman, and his assistant, began walking in, while the Chairman, on his way to one of the chairs at the end of the bronze table, to where George and Julius were seated, spoke out with his deep voice.

"Apologies for my latest, I had some matters that needed to be taken care of."
