All she wanted now was for Duke to leave as quickly as possible; once he left, she and the baby would be temporarily safe.

"I’ll go check. You can stay here for two days and rest assured. Once you figure out how to handle the child in your belly, I assure you no harm will come to you, and I can take you away from here."

Duke affectionately reached for Rui Hui’s face, but this time Rui Hui couldn’t suppress her disgust and turned her head away before he could touch her.

Duke’s hand paused mid-air, awkwardly retracting.

He gave her a deep look, thinking she still needed time to adjust, said nothing more, and turned to leave the secret room.

As soon as his figure disappeared, Rui Hui collapsed onto the ground.

She gasped for breath, her back soaked with cold sweat.
