70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 404: Yun Luo’s Wedding
"What’s going on here?" Xu Mumu walked over as Madam Chen had already picked up the little one.
"It’s nothing, just tripped over a stone," Madam Chen said helplessly. The little guy had been chasing the two dogs everywhere and didn’t pay attention to where he was running. He came near the flower bed and tripped over a stone without noticing.
"Fengfeng, would you like sister to hold you?" Xu Mumu said gently, reaching out to hold the little one.
"No need, I’ll carry him. Do you want to go back and rest for a bit? You guys got back so late last night," Madam Chen said sympathetically, looking at Xu Mumu, whose eyes were still dark with fatigue.
"I can’t sleep now, and I have to go to the neighbor’s place later this afternoon to handle my stuff," Xu Mumu said with a smile.
Hearing Xu Mumu’s words, Madam Chen felt even more sympathy. If her granddaughter had to be this tired every day, she certainly wouldn’t have let her come over to the Imperial City to study.
"Mumu, why don’t you stop working on those things? Our family doesn’t lack money, we can support you," Madam Chen said as she looked at Xu Mumu.
"Grandma, I’m not this tired every day, and I really enjoy doing these things. Now, when I’m young, it’s good to learn more and create more things," Xu Mumu said with a smile, not sure what kind of ideas her grandma was forming.
"Alright, I can’t argue with you. You’re a girl, so you should take better care of your body. Only a healthy body will allow you to do whatever you want," Madam Chen said earnestly.
"Grandma, I understand," Xu Mumu smiled helplessly. Could anyone understand the importance of having a healthy body better than her?
Ever since the family was no longer lacking money, she had been focusing on her health. Although she looked a bit frail, her strength was unmatched by many.
After calming Madam Chen, Xu Mumu went to help Mrs. Liu make lunch. She gave the little one a chicken claw to gnaw on, and he stopped crying and began playing with the two dogs again. If it weren’t for Madam Chen watching over him, he might even share the chicken claw with the dogs.
Yin Yang had gotten up early and was already out handling things, so Xu Mumu didn’t see him when she woke up.
When lunch was almost ready, Yin Yang arrived with Zhou Yunhong and Huo Qingze.
Seeing Huo Qingze, Madam Chen and the others were quite excited. After being in the Imperial City for several days, they finally saw a familiar face again.
Although Yin Yang had mentioned that Madam Chen and the others were in the Imperial City, now seeing Madam Chen’s excited expression, Huo Qingze couldn’t help but step back.
His deep impression of Old Xu’s couple was mostly thanks to Xu Xue, who often told him how they favored Xu Xue when they were at the brigade.
"Huo, is your family also in the Imperial City? Where do you live? We should visit your place some time," Madam Chen said excitedly. They weren’t familiar with people nearby, so it was quite boring only exchanging a few words occasionally.
"Uh, I’m not living at home, I’m living on campus, Madam Chen," Huo Qingze said warmly. He had no desire to return to the Huo Family house; he found it disgusting.
"Grandma, let’s go help carry the dishes," Xu Mumu quickly pulled Madam Chen away to prevent her from asking inappropriate questions that might upset Huo Qingze.
"What’s with you, pulling me over here?" Madam Chen asked, puzzled.
"Grandma, Huo Qingze’s family situation is quite special," Xu Mumu said, explaining briefly about Huo Qingze’s family.
Madam Chen fell silent for two seconds, then slowly said, "Why are city people so awful?" It took her a while to muster this comment.
"Exactly, Grandma, so you need to be mindful when talking to others," Xu Mumu said with a smile. Although most people were quite simple and honest in this era, city folks usually had their own agendas.
Though they weren’t in any financial need themselves, they couldn’t guarantee someone wouldn’t target them.
"Got it, don’t worry, we definitely won’t cause you any trouble," Madam Chen said seriously.
Xu Mumu felt a mix of amusement and gratitude; her grandma was really wonderful. "Grandma, just act normally, even if trouble arises, we can handle it," Xu Mumu said with a smile.
"That won’t do; we’re city folks now," Madam Chen said proudly, her head held high while internally planning to avoid losing her temper or arguing in the Imperial City. She decided to talk this over with the old man later.
Unaware of Madam Chen’s thoughts, Xu Mumu just hoped Madam Chen and the others would stay in the city longer and naturally adapt. After suffering a couple of setbacks, they would surely learn and smarten up. Xu Mumu wasn’t worried about her grandparents causing trouble; she simply didn’t believe they would.
After lunch, Xu Mumu went next door. Since Yin Yang was going to read, she decided not to disturb him and worked on her own tasks.
Continuously improving the equipment she was working on, Xu Mumu became completely absorbed in her work. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
While Xu Mumu was busy, Yin Yang was equally occupied, feeling overwhelmed with busyness.
In Lan City, meanwhile, Yun Luo’s wedding day soon arrived. Despite her repeated attempts to resist, she was dressed up beautifully and sent off in a wedding car. Watching the scenery rapidly retreat outside the car window, she glanced at the man sitting beside her.
Yun Luo felt a surge of grievance; the man next to her was nowhere near as good as Yin Yang, nor as appealing as her cousin brothers at home. Apart from a good lineage, he was worthless, leaving Yun Luo feeling deeply wronged.
At this moment, they were surrounded entirely by Ma Family members. Yun Ji specifically instructed Ma Family members to keep an eye on Yun Luo, preventing her from running away.
Previously, Yun Luo had secretly run off to the Imperial City seeking Yin Yang, and the Ma Family found out about it. Had it not been overshadowed by the impending wedding, this issue would have been addressed sooner. After the marriage, it would likely be forgotten.
The Ma and Yun families’ alliance was celebrated with quite an extravagant wedding, as it represented the reputation of both families.
Ma Haiyang was quite satisfied with Yun Luo, mainly because Yun Luo was beautiful and the Yun Family was significant. Together, their alliance naturally increased their power.
Xu Mumu got up, having worked tirelessly for more than a week. She finally finished improving the equipment she needed. Testing the materials, she found the precision had improved and the error margin reduced. Overall, this improvement was very successful.
Xu Mumu was quite pleased with the improved equipment. She carefully documented the improvement steps and secured the optimized equipment in the room, which only she and Yin Yang had access to.
This small courtyard had been specially renovated by Yin Yang; ordinary people couldn’t enter it easily, and simple tools weren’t enough to open its doors and windows.
