Chapter 438: Trouble on the Train

When Xu Mumu and the others arrived, there were already a few people here; Huo Qingze and his group had already arrived.

Huo Qingze invited quite a few people, some of his friends, and also Yin Yang’s group.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Yin Yang said with a faint smile. He knew these people, as they were all brought by Huo Qingze to work at the factory together — these were Huo Qingze’s friends.

"Not long, we just arrived too and haven’t even ordered yet. Why don’t you guys order?" Huo Qingze said with a lighthearted smile, in a pretty good mood.

Yin Yang handed the menu to Xu Mumu straight away.

Xu Mumu ordered two stir-fried dishes, leaving the fish to them to choose from; she wasn’t planning to order any specific one and didn’t have any dislike towards them.

Huo Qingze’s friends didn’t hold back either, filling two tables. The conversation at the dinner table was lively, discussing matters from the factory and some stories from Huo Qingze’s childhood, which Xu Mumu listened to with interest.

The dishes were served promptly. Aside from their two tables, there weren’t any other guests. Even with a blatant sign hanging outside, only familiar faces dared to dine here — previous patrons. Others wouldn’t easily venture in.

"The fish here tastes quite good. Mumu, Grandpa, you should all eat more," Yin Yang commented while eating and smiling.

After the meal, Xu Mumu felt stuffed again. The food here tasted exceptionally good, and she really liked it, planning to come back with Professor Song next time.

The men had a drink with Huo Qingze’s group. Xu Mumu didn’t like the taste of alcohol; she wasn’t a good drinker, so she didn’t drink. Yin Yang, however, had a bit, though not much.

After dinner, they had a simple gathering, but Huo Qingze’s friends didn’t invite them anywhere else.

Back at the courtyard, Mrs. Liu hadn’t arrived yet. She planned to come after the Lunar New Year. Without someone to cook and boil water at home, it was quite inconvenient — these chores still had to be done personally and Xu Mumu felt she had gotten a bit lazy, spoiled by Mrs. Liu’s presence.

When Mrs. Liu was around, Xu Mumu didn’t have to worry about these things; she could spend all her time on studying.

"Tired? I’ll boil the water," Yin Yang said gently.

"Not really tired." Xu Mumu shook her head.

Yin Yang took over boiling water while Xu Mumu grabbed scissors, trimming her hair a bit since her bangs had grown long, alongside the tips.

No significant change in appearance occurred, though she felt a bit more refreshed.

Looking at herself in the mirror, Xu Mumu decided to let her bangs grow next time and tie them up with her other hair.

Married life felt the same as before for Xu Mumu, except Yin Yang’s spiritual power was too strong, keeping things lively nightly.

If not for birth control measures, such frequent activities might have resulted in pregnancy soon.

Slept in again, but Yin Yang hadn’t left yet. As she nestled in his arms, her hand rested on his waist.

"Sleep a little longer, don’t move," Yin Yang said softly.

"Time to get up, Grandpa will laugh at us," Xu Mumu raised her hand to push Yin Yang away and got up to dress.

Seeing Xu Mumu get up, Yin Yang followed suit; sleeping alone was no fun. Obviously, it was more comfortable sleeping while holding the little wife.

They got up, and Professor Song was in the courtyard reading while Professor Jian washed two puppies.

"You’re up. Old Jian brought breakfast and it’s heated in the pot. Go have some," Professor Song said looking up at them.

Xu Mumu went to the kitchen and found some meat buns and two bowls of porridge.

The two quickly ate breakfast, Xu Mumu still feeling a bit sore — that guy really didn’t know restraint.

After breakfast, Xu Mumu sat in the courtyard sunbathing and reading alongside Professor Song.

Meanwhile, Yin Yang grabbed a big pair of scissors, trimming the roses and gardenias in the courtyard, particularly the roses that had grown wildly.

Though spring hadn’t arrived yet, everything still looked lush; the walls were covered with vines.

Previously, little Xu Mingfeng had come to play and got pricked. There wasn’t time then, but now was perfect for tidying up.

Throughout the morning, Yin Yang had trimmed many branches, which Xu Mumu replanted, knowing both roses and gardenias could take root.

If they thrived, they’d plant more; if not, they’d simply become fertilizer.

"Wipe your sweat," Xu Mumu said, handing a handkerchief to Yin Yang.

"Mumu, you wipe it for me," Yin Yang tilted his face, resting on a stool, reluctant to move.

"Lazy as ever," Xu Mumu rolled her eyes but carefully wiped him clean — truly felt indebted from a past life.

Enjoying the face-wiping service of his little wife, the heat on his face dissipated, making him squint contentedly.

After wiping Yin Yang’s face, Xu Mumu went to prepare lunch, using ingredients sent by Zhou Yunhong and some dried goods brought by folks from their hometown.

Xu Mumu cooked three chicken legs with potatoes, fried a bowl of tofu, and made a vegetable egg soup, finishing a simple meal.

At the dining table, Yin Yang praised her lavishly again, which Xu Mumu simply ignored, suspecting he wanted her to cook for him for a lifetime.

Without the Xu Family members around, it wasn’t as lively. To stave off boredom, Xu Mumu decided to continue researching the lab equipment, much of which hadn’t been improved and was inconvenient to use.

After a few days, Xu Mumu finally received a call from home.

She listened to her mom talk about their train encounter, causing her to frown — there were human traffickers on the train.

Had Xu Minghui not been sharp, that person might have taken off with Kangkang.

Luckily, with many men in the Xu Family, they managed to subdue the trafficker and hand him over to the police.

"Mom, did Dad and Brother suffer any injuries?" Upon hearing about the trafficker, Xu Mumu felt uneasy, asking urgently.

"No major problem, just a cut on your second uncle’s arm, but it wasn’t deep and has been bandaged," Li Caixia said calmly, thankful she was holding her son — not one to be easily bullied.

The trafficker likely viewed Qian Ying as an easy target, given there were only a few women present, making abducting a child seem viable. Had her son not been there, the trafficker might have succeeded.
