Chapter 455: Shopping Trip

After comforting the two kids, Xu Mumu greeted Tang and had already taken the afternoon off. She planned to take the two kids shopping for clothes and stuff.

Feeling good today, just wanted to spend some money.

Xu Mumu was the sister of the two kids, and since she was going to take them out to have fun, she naturally had no objections.

Just like that, Xu Mumu happily took the two kids away, and Su Yue’e went to eat in the cafeteria by herself.

"What do you want to eat for lunch? I’ll take you out to eat," Xu Mumu asked with a smile. She had memorized all the nearby eateries and could take the two kids there without any problem.

"Big sis, I want chicken stew with mushrooms," Xu Jiaojiao eagerly looked at her big sis, having spent the whole morning in tension, she could finally go eat some delicious food.

"I want fish. Fish is good for the brain."

"Alright, we’ll have both," Xu Mumu nodded with a smile. She had already informed Yin Yang that she would be hanging out with her younger siblings this afternoon, and he wouldn’t disturb them.

Xu Mumu took the two kids to the usual spot, the best eatery nearby. Before the holiday, when Xu Jiaojiao visited, Xu Mumu brought them here to eat. The two kids still remembered this place.

"Big sis, wasn’t this where we ate last time?" Xu Jiaojiao exclaimed excitedly.

"Yes, you guys really liked the food here back then," Xu Mumu replied with a smile.

Now the policy has changed, and businesses are opening up. Although many people are still tentative, the businesses here aren’t as cautious as they used to be.

When they arrived at the private eatery with the two kids, there were already customers inside, quite a few people, to Xu Mumu’s surprise. Before, when they came, there was usually no one.

"Mumu, you’re here! What do you want to eat today? I’ll have Mr. Su make it for you," said a woman with a smile, approaching Xu Mumu. She and Yin Yang occasionally came here for a change of taste, so the elderly couple running the place knew them well.

Although it was Huo Qingze who introduced Yin Yang to this place, Yin Yang came often enough that he became familiar with the people here.

"Then I’ll trouble you and Mr. Su," Xu Mumu nodded with a smile, and Mrs. Yu led them to a quiet room. The people eating in the main room couldn’t help but glance at Xu Mumu and the kids.

Not minding them, Xu Mumu took the two kids into the room.

The room was warmly furnished, with a table in the middle, surrounded by screens and flower pots. One pot contained a plant Xu Mumu didn’t recognize, but it was blooming with vibrant pink flowers.

After ordering the dishes the kids liked, Xu Mumu also ordered some of Mr. Su’s specialties. The three of them ordered three big dishes; anyway, Xu Mumu had a good appetite, Xu Minglei, a growing boy, could eat a lot, and though Xu Jiaojiao was quite thin, she often helped with chores at home and was quite strong, able to eat a fair amount.

As expected by Xu Mumu, the three dishes were completely finished by them.

Xu Mumu thought her own appetite might have increased a bit, obviously due to her growing strength.

"Big sis, you ate so much!" Xu Jiaojiao was stunned seeing Xu Mumu finish the last bit; her big sis had eaten almost three times what she did.

"It’s fine, I have a lot of strength, so naturally, I eat more," Xu Mumu said calmly.

"If I eat as much as you, will I be as strong as big sis?" Xu Jiaojiao looked at Xu Mumu expectantly. She still vividly remembered the scene two years ago when her big sis punched a wild boar to death; such strength made her very envious.

"What are you thinking? I’m just naturally strong. If you ate that much, you’d be as round as a ball," Xu Mumu laughed, advising her siblings to keep a balanced figure because she didn’t want them to grow up chubby.

"So how do you grow strong?" Xu Minglei asked curiously, knowing his big sis was even stronger than their big brother.

"Didn’t I teach you exercises? If you practice them, you’ll definitely be stronger than average," Xu Mumu gently explained. She had taught them basic self-defense skills and left them to practice on their own. Over the years, the training had paid off, and at least the children in the Xu Family were sturdy, unlike other families with skinny kids.

"I practice every day. None of the boys in my class can beat me in arm wrestling," Xu Jiaojiao immediately said, realizing her strength had indeed improved. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

After lunch, Xu Mumu took the two kids shopping. Although they’d been to the department store many times, Xu Mumu treated it like a supermarket, and every time she bought heaps of stuff, it made her especially happy.

Xu Mumu pulled the two kids along, continually buying, buying, buying, having brought enough money with her.

Before long, the two kids and Xu Mumu were loaded with so many things they could hardly carry them all.

"Big sis, that’s enough. Don’t buy anymore; buying too much is a waste," Xu Jiaojiao said almost in tears. Their parents had given her money, telling her not to trouble her big sis and to buy what she needed herself. But at the department store, whenever she wanted something, big sis paid for it before she even had a chance.

"Wow, that’s a lot," Xu Mumu was also a bit taken aback. With her strength, carrying all the items didn’t feel heavy, but seeing the kids struggling with their load, she felt a little guilty.

"Let’s go back," Xu Mumu said calmly.

The three of them, laden with bags, headed towards the courtyard, where Tang and a few others were sitting and chatting, waiting for the results of the competition, which would take two days to come out.

"Why did you buy so much?" Tang asked, wide-eyed, seeing Xu Mumu and the kids.

"Just couldn’t help it. I bought some pastries; you all should try them," Xu Mumu said, taking out the pastries and sharing them.

The rest of the stuff was placed in the main hall. These were for the kids and to take back to the family.

"Imperial City pastries are tastier than those in the provincial capital," one of the teachers said with a smile after tasting one.

"Of course they’re good. Being from Imperial City, naturally, they wouldn’t be bad."

"Big sis, with so much stuff, how will we take it all back?" Xu Jiaojiao asked, troubled.

"Don’t worry. Before you go back, call home and ask them to meet you at the station to help carry everything," Xu Mumu said with a smile.

"Besides all this, there are the books big sis gave us. We’ll need more people to carry them," Xu Jiaojiao fretted, seeing no other option. At least, she and Xu Minglei couldn’t manage all these things alone.

These items weren’t light, and the books were even heavier, so they’d have to ask their dad and second uncle, who were strong, to help out.
