70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 475: Adventure Time
Mom and Dad went back home, and the house seemed less lively now. Yet, the few kids were still quite rowdy, making the already hot weather seem even hotter.
Just when Xu Mumu was idly thinking of going hunting for fun, Zhou Yunhong brought some outdoor survival gear for them.
A very nice tent, a military flashlight, and a dagger. The flashlight was very bright and convenient to use.
"Mumu, what are these?" Madam Chen asked curiously, holding the tent. What material is this really? It’s so sturdy, sturdier than oilcloth.
"This is called a tent. You can crawl inside it to sleep when you’re outdoors." Xu Mumu spread the tent open; it wasn’t very big, but it could fit two people.
"Why did you get these things?" Madam Chen asked, her hand trembling slightly, looking at Xu Mumu.
"Grandma and Grandpa, we are planning to go explore the deep mountains because it’s quite boring at home." Xu Mumu decided not to keep it a secret anymore.
"Mumu, are you crazy? There are bears and wolves in the deep mountains," Madam Chen exclaimed sharply, looking incredulously at Xu Mumu and the others.
"Don’t worry, bears wouldn’t stand a chance against me. We’re just going for a few days; we’ll be back soon." Xu Mumu remained calm. She’s gotten much stronger now; she estimated her strength was easily over a thousand pounds.
"Sis, I want to go too." Xu Minglei’s eyes sparkled. Exploring the deep mountains sounded so interesting; he definitely wanted to go.
"No way. If we encounter a bear, I won’t have time to protect you." Xu Mumu refused outright. This kid wasn’t scared of anything; didn’t he see that none of the other team members dared venture into the deep mountains?
"Then what about brother-in-law? He’s not as strong as you; you probably can’t protect him either." Xu Minglei felt extremely wronged, as his sister had rejected him.
"Your brother-in-law is very capable. He can take down several strong men by himself, can you?" Xu Mumu glanced at her aggrieved little brother, telling him the truth.
Despite Yin Yang’s seemingly demon-like appearance, he’s actually very strong; otherwise, he wouldn’t have grown up safely.
"Is brother-in-law really that strong?" Xu Jiaojiao was shocked. She knew he was skilled at making money, but she didn’t expect him to be so good at fighting too.
"Of course, if your brother-in-law wasn’t capable, would I have fancied him in the first place?" Xu Mumu said proudly, enjoying the feeling of showing off her husband.
"You guys decided this long ago?" Old Xu puffed on his leaf tobacco, suddenly finding it not as fragrant as before.
"Yeah, Grandpa, we won’t get into trouble. I promise you." Xu Mumu sat beside Old Xu, sweet-talking him.
"Mumu, the mountains are really dangerous, with all kinds of animals. Even hunters dared not venture too deep before," Madam Chen advised sincerely, hoping Xu Mumu would give up on this dangerous idea.
"Grandma, don’t you know how strong I am? I’m very powerful, nothing will happen. I could even punch a wild boar to death." Xu Mumu said helplessly, feeling touched by their concern, but she was bored to tears staying idle.
Thinking of heading to the mountains, she didn’t even feel like reading anymore.
Recalling how Xu Mumu once punched a wild boar to death, the courtyard fell silent for two seconds. In these years, Xu Mumu spent more time at school and appeared gentle at home, so they almost forgot about her fierce deeds.
"And now that I’ve grown up, I’m even stronger. I bet one punch could bring down our home’s wall." Xu Mumu looked innocently at Madam Chen, realizing that having so much unused strength was a bit of a dilemma.
Madam Chen and Old Xu: "..." Their granddaughter’s strength really is abnormal.
"Grandma, let us go. It’s not fun at home. Maybe we’ll find some ginseng or mushrooms; those are worth a lot." Xu Mumu earnestly boasted, though ginseng wasn’t that easy to find. She had seen pictures of ginseng online and seedlings, but never the real thing.
Yin Yang said nothing, calmly watching Xu Mumu brag.
After persistent persuasion from Xu Mumu, Madam Chen finally reluctantly agreed, warning them repeatedly to be cautious and hide quickly if they encounter any beasts, babbling a ton. Xu Mumu patiently listened.
With Madam Chen’s blessing, the other kids were envious. They all wanted to go too, but the oldest sister wouldn’t let them go, and the adults at home at most allowed them to look for mushrooms near the outskirts of the mountains, knowing how dangerous the deep mountains could be.
Before, someone from the team ventured into the mountains for food and returned with a crippled leg and a broken hand.
That person is still alive, often used by the team to scare their own children.
With the family’s consent, on the third morning, Xu Mumu and Yin Yang each packed a bag and headed toward the mountains.
Xu Mumu carried the tent and a small clay pot, while Yin Yang brought some food, clothes, matches, and even a palm fan since it’s not convenient to make fire outdoors.
Leaving early, no one from the team saw them as they headed up the mountain. The morning was cool, unlike the heat of noon and afternoon, with some dew; Xu Mumu found it extremely comfortable.
"Do you like the mountains here?" Yin Yang asked, looking at Xu Mumu.
"I do. The environment here is great, and there’s no one around." Xu Mumu replied, smiling.
"If you like it, we’ll lease all the mountain tops here after a while." Yin Yang responded seriously. During his stay in his hometown, besides teaching a few kids, he wasn’t idle; he constantly planned what to do once they leased the land here.
"Alright, let’s build a fruit orchard here," Xu Mumu glanced around; there’s no slope here, so an orchard is doable.
"Sure, whatever you say. What fruits do you like? I’ll have them planted." Yin Yang said, smiling.
Xu Mumu began counting her favorite fruits on her fingers; many suited the climate here.
Yin Yang quietly took note of all the fruits Xu Mumu mentioned, planning to plant as many as possible.
"Later, we’ll raise some chickens and ducks on the mountain, dig a pond below, plant it full of lotus flowers, raise some fish inside, build a pavilion by the pond..." As they walked, Xu Mumu described her vision.
Yin Yang noted all this, finding these demands simple and entirely doable.
"Are you tired? Let’s stop and rest for a bit." Xu Mumu said, seeing sweat on Yin Yang’s forehead, using a handkerchief to wipe it off.
"Use this fan for a while; I’m not too hot." Yin Yang shook his head, noting that carrying the load wasn’t heavy. The sun was out, making it a bit warm, though not uncomfortable; now and then, he’d catch a refreshing breeze.
