Chapter 494: Got the Graduation Certificate

Xu Mumu’s early graduation plans were already known to almost everyone in the class, but Xu Mumu didn’t care about their opinions.

On the contrary, Jiang Zhenghao and the others specifically came to ask Xu Mumu about the use of the lab.

"Don’t worry, even if I leave, that small lab won’t be moved. The equipment will stay here, and someone will come to take over. They’ll work it out with the school." Xu Mumu smiled lightly at them.

"Mumu, will you come back after you leave?" Jiang Zhenghao looked at Xu Mumu.

"Yes, my grandfather and Sir Jian are still here. They have to work here for a while." Xu Mumu nodded.

"I wonder when we’ll see each other again." Song Qiao remarked with some emotion.

"Why worry? This is my family’s phone number; you can call or write to me whenever you miss me." Xu Mumu took out a sheet of paper and wrote down her home phone number and address.

They kept her contact details, and Xu Mumu stayed with them for dinner in the small courtyard before leaving.

In a few days, exams would start, but Xu Mumu wasn’t nervous at all, she even felt quite relaxed.

On the day of the exam, Xu Mumu arrived early. The exam questions weren’t difficult for her, and she easily wrote the answers on the test papers, completing several that day.

Back at the courtyard, Professors Song and others hadn’t returned yet. Xu Mumu went out to buy some Imperial City specialties to send home. There were various styles, more fashionable than those in other places. Xu Mumu bought not only for herself and Yin Yang, but also for Professors Song and Jian, her parents, and grandparents.

When she got home, Xu Mumu called her family, and it was Xu Minglei who answered, as usual.

Upon hearing that his sister was coming back, Xu Minglei was overjoyed.

He talked about family affairs and matters at school.

The eldest brother finally started dating, although he hadn’t brought her home yet. She seems to be the girl he met at school before.

Grandparents have been pressing him to bring her home soon, eager to see her, and even urging them to marry quickly.

Xu Minghui is three years older than Xu Mumu, and since Xu Mumu got married long ago, Madam Chen and the others have been anxious for Xu Minghui to marry soon too, hoping to have great-grandchildren while they’re still active.

Xu Mumu found it amusing how her eldest brother had been urged to marry since she first arrived, and it persisted until now. Her brother certainly has perseverance.

Besides the eldest brother’s matters, there’s cousin Su Xiu, who’s pregnant with her second child now.

Parents are still the same, without much change, and grandparents are thinking about what to sell in the provincial city. Besides hanging out with the grandson, they have nothing else to do and feel quite bored.

In the provincial city, many people are selling things, making it lively.

Back in the hometown, fields are being distributed. The eldest house had transferred their household registration to the provincial city early on, so they weren’t eligible to divide the fields.

The family doesn’t really care about the fields now. Both have jobs and a combined income is quite good. They’re rather laid-back and naturally don’t want to do the tiring farm work at home.

However, the old couple felt a bit regretful, having farmed for so many years. Now, raising poultry is unrestricted, and they can grow grain themselves, which is good news only for the two sons still in the countryside.

This, Xu Mumu was aware of, as due to Yin Yang and Huo Qingze’s involvement, the government here implemented policies faster than other places. Now policies are stabilized and won’t change easily.

Apart from land division, the second uncle’s house in the countryside is set to be rebuilt as a building.

Xu Xue’s shop in the provincial city is doing well, with Madam Chen visiting several times to check.

The children are doing well in their studies too. They chose their subjects at half-term and adapted well to them, now waiting for final exams.

Listening to her brother’s confident words, Xu Mumu was quite looking forward to their exam results, hoping they’d do well.

Unknowingly, they talked a lot, and Xu Mumu listened to a lot of the kids’ study plans.

Next semester, there’s a physics competition at school, and apart from Xu Wan choosing humanities, the others plan to participate to see the gap between them.

At home, Xu Minglei lives close to school, so the children don’t stay in dorms and live here. At home, though Xu Mumu’s room is vacant, no one occupies it, preferring Yin Yang’s since he’s busy in the countryside, leaving the room for visits.

These plans were discussed with Yin Yang, and he agreed since it’s just for sleeping, and the children don’t mess with his things.

When Xu Minglei answered the call from Xu Mumu, the kids gathered around, adding what he missed, making the conversation lively.

After hanging up, Xu Mumu felt quite good, eager to return and see the kids, curious about their progress.

It didn’t take many days for Xu Mumu to finish the remaining exams.

The Old Xu Family was thrilled learning Xu Mumu would return.

Xu Mumu’s room didn’t need cleaning by Madam Chen since the kids tidied it up.

Now Xu Mumu was waiting for her graduation certificate before she could go back.

Thankfully, it wasn’t long before Professor Song notified her to see the dean.

In the dean’s office, the graduation certificate was handed to Xu Mumu, and he spoke at length, mostly reluctant to see her go. Such talent was hard to part with, but they couldn’t keep her.

He asked a lot about her plans for postgraduate and doctoral studies, which Xu Mumu found frustrating, as she declined them all, preferring independent study and consulting Professor Song for any questions rather than pursuing cumbersome studies.

The dean couldn’t persuade her further and handed over the graduation certificate.

As Xu Mumu was about to leave, the dean inquired about the ancient tomb back home, as Duan Yunkai was still there. Busy as Duan Yunkai might be, contact with him was rare, and naturally, there was concern.
