Chapter 496: Changes in the Provincial Capital

After dozing for a while, Xu Mumu got up to go to the restroom. Not long after she walked out, someone followed her.

Xu Mumu slowed her pace, waiting for the person to catch up.

As the door was about to close, the person reached out, trying to grab Xu Mumu’s hand.

A mocking glint flashed in Xu Mumu’s eyes as she swiftly turned around, "What do you want to do?"

"You found out?" The man was startled, with one hand caught by Xu Mumu, while the other tried to reach for Xu Mumu’s face. Her face looked very fair and tender, surely nice to touch, the man thought.

"With such minor tricks, you still want to hit on others." As Xu Mumu’s grip tightened, just before the man’s filthy hand could reach her face.

"Ah, ah. It hurts, let go, you stinky woman, ah, do you believe I can ruin you?" The man cried out in pain, still threatening Xu Mumu.

"Oh? I wonder who will speak first, or..." Xu Mumu smirked and raised her hand to dislocate his jaw.

"What happened? What happened? What’s going on?" The train conductor arrived, naturally noticing the commotion.

"He accidentally fell, broke his hand, and there’s also a problem with his chin." Xu Mumu calmly wiped her hands. By now, the man was pale with pain, drooling uncontrollably, staring fearfully at Xu Mumu.

He indeed had designs on Xu Mumu considering her marriage claim a lie, quietly approaching to take advantage.

He had thought she was an innocent flower, but she turned out to be a man-eating one.

He had clearly heard the bone in his arm shatter under her grip earlier, the pain was unbearable, almost causing him to faint. He deeply regretted provoking such a fiend.

"Accidentally fell?" The train conductor looked at the man, whose face was contorted in pain, and decided to call someone to take him away, planning to send him to the hospital at the next stop after some basic care.

Xu Mumu smiled at the man, making his expression more terrified; he was truly frightened.

Her smile made the man flinch once again; to him, it was a provocation, a threat. His already fainting hand brushed the wall once more, successfully causing him to faint from the renewed pain.

The man was taken away, and Xu Mumu was also questioned by the train conductor about the situation.

Xu Mumu simply explained that she had gone to the restroom and how he accidentally fell, a statement that had nothing to do with her. Even if the man recovered and tried to trouble her, she wasn’t afraid. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

After a brief registration, Xu Mumu returned to rest. The following matters had nothing to do with her. Considering the injuries she inflicted, he’s likely bedridden for days, even if his hand hadn’t broken or if it were healed, there’d be residual pain.

Back in the small bed, without the annoying person, Xu Mumu felt the air much fresher.

The man who was taken away quickly had his belongings moved by the train conductor. By tomorrow morning, they’d reach the next station to send him to the hospital.

As the berth emptied, it was quickly occupied by a young girl, which Xu Mumu didn’t mind or consider significant.

Time spent on the train was quite dull, with nothing much to do besides reading, watching the scenery, or resting.

Over two days felt quite long to Xu Mumu. Upon disembarking, Xu Mumu carried two large suitcases; Yin Yang and the others were already waiting.

Xu Minglei and the rest were on break too and had come over.

"Why did you come in person? Don’t you have a lot to handle?" Xu Mumu looked at Yin Yang, who had clearly spruced up for the occasion, though looking a bit tired, with shadows under his eyes and much leaner.

"What’s more important than my wife?" Yin Yang smiled gently; had there not been so many around, he would’ve held her for a deep embrace.

"Smooth talker." Xu Mumu smiled wryly.

"Sis, are your things heavy? Let me take them." Xu Minglei immediately prepared to take the items from his sister, annoyed that his brother-in-law had cut ahead to claim his favorite sister.

"No need, they aren’t heavy." Xu Mumu shook her head; although the box of books was indeed heavy, she handed the lighter one to Yin Yang when he offered to help.

Xu Minglei stood aside, puffing with frustration at his sister’s increasing favoritism towards her husband.

Madam Chen came along with Fengfeng, highly approving of Yin Yang’s diligence.

Once in the car, Madam Chen began asking about Xu Mumu’s school term, whether she cared for herself, mentioning her thinness.

Xu Mumu was a bit exasperated; the one who truly thinned down was right beside her, Yin Yang, who had never been this slim, causing her distress.

Driving through the city center, Xu Mumu felt the provincial capital had undergone dramatic changes in just half a year. Businesses had increased, new stores appeared, making the city buzz with activity even close to noon.

"Such a big change," Xu Mumu marveled.

"Indeed." Madam Chen felt indifferent about the new shops; she had learned from Yin Yang that almost half were his, with Huo Qingze owning a bit less, the rest by locals.

Learning this left Madam Chen completely astonished.

The endeavors of Yin Yang and Huo Qingze seemed almost unreal to Madam Chen. Besides managing an expansive business, they caused quite a stir back home, with news reaching her despite infrequent visits, always relayed by Yin Yang and her two foolish sons visiting.

Xu Jiaojiao and the others residing here weren’t free-loading; the brothers were regularly bringing supplies.

Returning home, hot water had already been prepared, giving Xu Mumu a refreshing bath, while Yin Yang tidied up their room, organizing everything neatly.

"Wifey, I missed you so much." Once Xu Mumu emerged, Yin Yang hugged her, expressing his longing.

"I missed you too. But, hmm, remember what you promised me? Wasn’t caring for yourself what you said? And you’ve gotten so much thinner." Xu Mumu embraced him, no longer feeling comfortable hugging him like before.

"With you back to oversee me, I’m sure to regain my weight." Yin Yang chuckled softly.
