Chapter 500: Auntie Fourth Is About to Give Birth

Xu Mumu watched her little brother eat with oil all over his mouth, her mouth twitched, and she used a handkerchief to wipe his mouth.

Returning to the room in the evening, it had already been tidied up by Yin Yang.

"Wife." Yin Yang looked at Xu Mumu intently, the meaning was obvious; the two had been apart for half a year and hadn’t had a proper intimate moment in a long time.

Xu Mumu missed Yin Yang a lot as well, so she naturally cooperated more.

She almost couldn’t get up in the morning; her waist felt like it was breaking.

"Mumu, breakfast is ready, grandma made the peanut porridge herself." Yin Yang brought over the food, not going to work today.

The peanuts in the porridge were finely chopped, and the porridge smelled great. Besides the porridge, Yin Yang also boiled an egg for Xu Mumu.

"Did you all eat?" Xu Mumu rubbed her waist but got out of bed anyway.

"We did, and mom and dad have already gone to work." Yin Yang smiled gently.

"Mom and them definitely know." Xu Mumu’s face flushed a bit; getting up late, any adult would know what was up, she was too embarrassed to face anyone.

"It’s fine, they’re just waiting to hold a grandchild." Yin Yang chuckled, Li Caixia and the others hadn’t said anything; on the contrary, they were quite pleased.

Xu Mumu rolled her eyes. When it came to having kids, she had heard many people pushing for it, and she was used to it. But having kids wasn’t something she could do alone; it required cooperation between the two of them.

"You’re not busy today?" Xu Mumu asked, looking at Yin Yang.

"No, I’m staying to keep you company today." Yin Yang shook his head; the work he had could wait, and Zhou Yunhong could handle things without any major issues arising. He wanted to spend a good day with his wife today.

"Is there somewhere you want to go and play?" Yin Yang asked, looking at Xu Mumu.

"I want to check out that lab you’re building over there." Xu Mumu paused from eating breakfast, then looked at Yin Yang expectantly. The lab had started construction over a month ago, and she wanted to see how it was coming along.

"It’s not done yet; I’ll drive us there to take a look later." Yin Yang nodded; it was alright to go see it. He had been busy with things in the provincial city lately, somewhat neglecting the matters back in the village.

Madam Chen had already taken her little grandson for a walk and returned. Seeing Xu Mumu and Yin Yang eating and chatting, she didn’t go over to disturb them. The young couple hadn’t seen each other in a long time, so she left them some space.

After breakfast, Xu Mumu didn’t even need to do the dishes; Yin Yang promptly went to wash them himself.

Xu Mumu came over, and Xu Minglei was quietly reading in the room. Xu Mumu glanced at him and didn’t disturb him; loving to study was a good thing.

Xu Mumu mentioned to Madam Chen about going back to the countryside to take a look and asked if they wanted to come along.

"You go ahead, we go back often." Madam Chen shook her head.

Madam Chen and the others didn’t return, and Xu Mumu didn’t insist, directly getting in Yin Yang’s car, and the two of them headed for the village.

On the way back, the roads had been refurbished; they were now concrete roads. Xu Mumu was quite surprised that in half a year, the whole county, even the provincial city, had changed so much. No wonder Yin Yang had been so busy; with so many things to do, it was unusual not to be busy.

The rural paths had also been widened, and there were quite a few vehicles coming and going here, mostly transporting materials and such.

In this era, those who had cars usually had bicycles. There were very few people with small cars.

The folks in the brigade all recognized Yin Yang’s car, so neither Xu Mumu nor anyone else needed to greet them. The whole brigade knew that Yin Yang was back, and Xu Mumu sat in the car where no one could see her.

The Old Xu Family had made a small parking lot here, and Yin Yang drove the car right in.

Walking all the way there, what left Xu Mumu most amazed was the brigade. She almost didn’t recognize the place she had lived for two years.

The fields had been re-planned, the houses were no longer as rundown as before. Some families had even built multi-story houses; the best-built was the one owned by the brigade leader.

The brigade’s elementary school was also quickly being constructed, and the workers were mostly from the village.

Xu Mumu also saw the lab that Yin Yang was constructing. The lab was near the Xu Family and covered a large area. It was already more than halfway built, and although she didn’t go over to take a closer look, Xu Mumu could tell at a glance that it would undoubtedly be impressive. This lab was much bigger than the one in the Imperial City.

"Mumu is back?" As Xu Mumu returned, Qian Ying greeted her with a smile, and several kids immediately ran over.

"Big Sis, I missed you so much." Xu Jiaojiao immediately came up to Xu Mumu.

"I missed you guys too. You’ve all grown a lot taller!" Xu Mumu looked warmly at the children; the little ones had all gotten taller.

"Where’s Fourth Aunt? I haven’t seen her." Xu Mumu asked in confusion.

"My mom’s resting in her room. Her belly’s big now, and my dad worries she might fall, so he told her to go out less, just walk around her room a bit." Xu Jiaojiao promptly replied.

Xu Mumu looked over, Sun Huiping was sitting in the fourth room holding a sewing basket, making clothes for a child. Seeing Xu Mumu looking over, Sun Huiping also smiled at her. Her due date was these days, so she dared not run around carelessly.

Fortunately, this pregnancy wasn’t as pronounced as when she had Xu Jiaojiao and her brother; it’s probably just one child. Having twins was quite a burden on the body.

Xu Mumu was startled when she saw Sun Huiping’s belly; it was huge. By her calculations, she should be due soon.

"Fourth Aunt is about to have the baby?" Xu Mumu asked cautiously.

"Yes, any day now." Sun Huiping replied warmly. Nowadays, the family wasn’t short on money, so they prepared more things for the baby.

"The family is about to welcome another little brother or sister." Xu Mumu said with a smile.

"Big Sis, it’s going to be a sister. A brother wouldn’t behave at all; I want a sister." Xu Jiaojiao said seriously.

"I want a brother, so I can take him to find bird eggs." Xu Tao immediately retorted. Boys played with boys, and girls played with girls. He wanted to take his brother up the mountain to find bird eggs and down the river to catch fish.

The two kids started arguing about whether the baby would be a little brother or sister. Qian Ying smiled helplessly on the side, not bothering to intervene. Whether it’d be a boy or a girl, she didn’t know herself; after all, they already had both a son and a daughter. It didn’t matter what the next baby would be.

As for the kids arguing, Sun Huiping didn’t take it to heart at all, and even those from the second room were used to it. These two often argued about whether they’d have a brother or sister. They would only bicker for a bit, and after, the siblings’ relationship remained as good as ever.

Xu Mumu chuckled to herself; what was even the point of this argument? And it was such a heated one, yet no one was stepping in to mediate. Mumu herself didn’t want to get involved.
